This is my second Phillips coffee maker. The first one lasted 6 years before a rock in a bag of coffee destroyed the grinder. The 5500 model has a few more bells and whistles, but it’s very similar to the 3300 model that served well. The flaws in the two are identical. The size of the cup of coffee can adjust, but is limited to 8 oz. If you use larger cups for a drive to work, you will have to use the x2 setting, which repeats the grinding and brewing cycle twice. Also, the water reservoir is pretty small. But all the coffee drinks it makes are excellent. The latte-go feature really works well, and is super easy to clean. But it must be cleaned after use. You can’t just rinse it out. It has multiple profile settings by color so all of your settings per drink can be stored. The grinder is much quieter that the 3300 model, but the actual brewing process is a bit louder. Noise is really the biggest detractor for the product. In each brewing cycle some water is used to rinse the coffee bin inside. This water collects in a tray which must be emptied when a red water indicator rises from the stainless steel tray. It will make a mess if you ignore this indicator. The review might sound a bit negative but it is a reliable coffee maker and it makes great coffee drinks if you can live with its quirks

It's been a week and my wife loves it. It's simple to make great coffee. It's easy to clean. One thing not in any online description is that if you register the warranty with Philips, they'll give you an extra year. Standard is 2 years of warranty. So you can get the 3rd year for free. PS. The default level of coffee strength maybe a little weak. But it's super easy to adjust coffee strength.

Mid-range price for this level of espresso machine, and still makes excellent coffee and espresso. Easy profile switch between my black coffee preference and my wife's lattes. No barista training needed. Easy to clean and to program

Overall this machine delivers Starbucks or your favorite high end brews. The only thing I don't like about it is it brews small sizes. Easily resolved by just brewing the same thing more than once. Pro tip, be patient and allow the grinder to break in which takes 100-150 brews per the online manual. Cups and pucks will be watery at first, but after 20 or so, things begin to get better and better. Do not adjust the grind size until after the recommended break in period so the ceramic burrs or the grinder can properly break in. The unit is super easy to maintain and clean. Another pro tip is to set the unit to rinse upon starup and shutdown which is in the settings. Otherwise the brew spout is known to get moldy. One other thing I would like to see in the future is a touch screen with more overall drink button customization. Enjoy!

I absolutely love this automatic espresso machine! It offers a great variety of drink options and provides multiple user profiles to allow individuals to save their customized drink preferences. Low maintenance is a bonus!

Machine directions are very easy to follow and machine is easy to clean and more importantly flavor of coffee excellent. Use it daily at home. Like the various types of coffee available to make.

I reviewed several brands and styles. This one for the price had it all. I wanted to have the milk frother but allow it to feed into the cup. It is extremely easy to rinse out the frother and the machine lets you know when the grounds need to be emptied or the water needs to be filled. I also love the fact that I can use wither whole beans or separately pour in grounded coffee which I use for decaf without having to switch out beans. So far no complaints.

I'm really enjoying my new Philips 5500. There are two things I would improve on: 1. the ground coffee port isn't large enough to pour into without spilling a little of the ground. 2. the whole bean reservoir should be deeper to hold more fresh beans, and the slop of the interior should be steeper so the bean flow downward better. Overall, I love this machine. The coffee it brew is very good.

The wife and I have been using this machine for the last 2 1/2 weeks and are loving it, a bit on the pricey side tho. I wanted to give it a 5-star, but I just couldn't do it. so far we have only found two cons to this machine, and that is the very small water tank and the small drink size. For us, we have to make two cups of coffee to get one cup. Other than that, the machine is awesome and does what it is supposed to do. Very happy so far other than the two issues mentioned

Very happy with this machine. Easy to use, great coffee quality, fast brewing and solid build. Works reliably every day and looks good on the counter. Definitely worth the money.

Best coffee ever. Super easy to use, lots of options and super easy to clean. I have even been tempted by take out since and greatly enjoy my morning treat.

I’ve been using this coffee machine for month and it makes really delicious coffee with rich crema. It’s a bit noisy during grinding, but that’s expected for a built-in grinder. Overall, very happy with the quality, design, and ease of use — totally worth the price.
