Love this product, the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is price.

Lights were good except one had to be returned, made humming noise

I've been using Hue A19 bulbs for a while, but the new apartment I moved into had a lot more track lighting and most of those are basically heat traps for those bulbs. I debated adding some BR30 bulbs to my system for a while, as I'd heard the first batch had some reliability issues, but now that I've actually picked them up I'm glad I did. The BR30's work great in the cans. I've had no problems maintaining connection or overheating, and I've been watching for the latter very carefully (after all, these are expensive light bulbs!) The good: The BR30's are a perfect fit for most track lighting fixtures. The light they put out is smooth and perfectly diffused, just like the A19's, and actually slightly brighter. I'm not sure if this is because the beam is more concentrated or if they made other improvements on the design since they released their first A19 bulbs, but they're fantastic spots and I like the fact that I can dial them down in brightness to soothe my concerns over heat damage. To that end, the heat sink seems to be build into the forward portion of the bulb as opposed to the rear, so while I'd still recommend vented fixtures it's not nearly as bad as I'd feared it would be. The bad: They are a bit of a snug fit. If my fixtures had been any narrower than they were, I'm not sure they could have gotten in. They're a little hard to screw in and out because of that, so be sure you handle with care. The glass diffuser remains the most delicate element of these bulbs, and unlike the A19's if it does break replacing it isn't a very easy thing to do. Fortunately it's also surrounded by that nice heat sink, so as long as it doesn't land right on its face dropping it probably won't end with a broken bulb (hey, I did say it was tricky to screw in...) The color fidelity is a little different compared to the A19's. This one seems to have a broader red spectrum, but the greens are just slightly paler (and the green end of the spectrum has always been a problem for Hue bulbs of any type.) It's easy enough to compensate for this when you're creating a light recipe fortunately. Finally, these really are only good for track lighting and can fixtures. The A19 can go pretty much anywhere and work - this only throws light out of the front of the can. All in all, I'd highly recommend picking some of these up if you're looking for high end smart lighting. One final plus: these bulbs are compatible with the second generation hue bridge, so no need to worry about them being rendered obsolete!

I first was introduced to hue with the light strips. I put them under my kitchen cabinets and fell in love with the functionality. I've moved on to the BR30's which I've outfitted my bonus / media room with seven of these guys. People love the theater ambiance that it can create or with the different apps available they can change to the beet of music. they are expensive but well worth it.

Ive got these in my kitchen and incredibly bright for 60w equivalent on the normal setting. The colors are perfect for entertaing and setting a mood. The entire system is awesome and ive done the whole house :-)

These bulbs are a bit expensive, but well worth it!

This worked well in a floor 3-way standing lamp. The standard bulb was too small, and this was much brighter for use in it. This will NOT fit in a standard lamp as it is too wide, and you will need the A19 for those.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this system - it solved my problem of finding the right color of LED bulb. The other LED brands/bulbs I tried were too bright or too focused or too blue-ish white. The hue starter kit was an easy no-brainer setup. This add-on bulb took a little effort to incorporate - had to edit the scenes to add the extra bulb - but no problems. This lighting product is a beautiful thing!

This is a great product. Expensive but to of the line. I am only able to get a couple bulbs every few months but I now have 12, and they provide a wonderful atmosphere in my home! Easy to use both in the house and away. The scenes are great which can really change or set the mood!

Great little add on flood light that lets you through some color spots on the wall. Big hit with anyone that comes over to my place. Fun and easy to use with a variety of different scenes. The Hue system is just plain cool! They are expensive. I now have switched every light in my house to LEDs such as these (10 Hue color lights) and I dont think its that expensive after a couple months because you save a ton in your energy bill. While you can save more buying the standard bulbs for less, you wont have the coolest party pad around!
