    An effective snoring remedy

My first reaction to the tiny SmartSleep puck that came in the box was skepticism but I know (and my wife knows) that I have positional snoring issues, so I felt like I needed to give this device a try. The verdict is that it works as advertised for me. I was very pleasantly surprised. The included band is extremely comfortable to wear and I was able to wear the device through the night with no issues. Furthermore, after the first week, I felt the difference in the quality of my sleep and my wife commented that I was snoring noticeably less. It's important to remember that the device needs that first week to "learn" how best to wake you up - I was a little disappointed at first that I didn't seem to be seeing any change after the first couple nights, but I've used it now every night for four weeks and it didn't really start working effectively until the end of that first week. The documentation also states that the battery will last about a week. In my experience, I was able to go almost two full weeks before needing a top-up, but your mileage may vary. The only two caveats for someone else using the device are as follows: I'm a heavy sleeper who has no issues falling back asleep when I wake in the middle of the night. This device does wake me to the point that, if I had issues falling back to sleep, there might be a problem. Also, my snoring issues are perfectly positional - I snore on my back and not at all on my side. If your snoring issues persist when you sleep on your side, then this device would obviously be less helpful. I would also have one minor wish: I would love to be able to track how the device works over time, but it keeps no history so if you want to track effectiveness over time, you're going to need to record the daily metrics it displays manually. Overall, I really like the SmartSleep and I would happily recommend it to someone else like myself who has very well-defined positional snoring issues and doesn't have problems falling back to sleep after a gentle wake-up.

    Huge improvement in sleep quality

We have been using this device for the last month in hopes of a fuller and more restful nights sleep for my partner and I, the photos below should give a good indication of how well it has been working! My partner has had issues with snoring from sleeping on her back for her entire life, this can be problematic when sharing a bed as the snoring can become so loud it is unbearable for both of us, and sometimes our neighbors (in an apartment). Since using this device, we have been able to gradually improve on the amount of "snore-free" time each night, with very few exceptions (see the November 1st data hiccup). When we first tried the device, she complained about it feeling fairly uncomfortable as to be expected for the first few nights until getting the strap broken in and adjusted just right. Over the last 4 weeks, her time sleeping on her back with loud snoring has decreased to a small portion of the night and continues to decrease. This allows both of us to wake up, well rested and with a little more sanity while virtually eliminating her dry, soar throat in the morning from all the snoring! The battery life is great, lasting just over 8 days of 7-8 hour nights. The device gives you about a half hour to unwind before falling asleep and will adjust the vibration type every few weeks to prevent you from becoming accustomed to the vibration and ignoring it. The operation is very simple, just one button and a series of presses or length of press navigate you through the features. The only thing we didn't like about it was the inability to connect to another device, such as using the USB port to connect to a computer to download the data instead of taking a picture. This could be hugely beneficial, along with a short memory of a few days perhaps, in allowing it's users to set up a long term data set to compare sleep trends. From time to time, the device seems to only track for a few hours and shut off in the middle of the night but, part of that was discovering she sleepwalks occasionally! That is really the only negative I can think about this device, everything else has just been incredible in allowing for a better night's rest! I would highly recommend giving this a try if you or your partner snore (no partner necessary) and repeatedly wake up tired! The cost seems like it may be a lot to try and relieve snoring, but compared to a sleep study at the doctor, it is an excellent value to fix a common problem of bad sleeping posture!

    Touchy but potential

I have been using this device for a couple of weeks now and I can say that is has helped, but there is some work that needs to be done in order to optimize. First of all, the band if a tad uncomfortable, maybe it's just me and I prefer to now have a stretchy belt on while i sleep, but all in all I think there is some work that can be done to enhance the feeling on my skin. For all of you shirt wearers when you sleep this might be a different story. Secondly, I found that the sensitivity was either too touchy or too lenient. I was still getting the elbow when i was wearing it to roll over from my wife opposed to the reminding vibration of the sensor. That said, I think there is a lot of potential with this device that may simply need to just be optimized in order to enhance the user experience. In conclusion, I think this is a great product but has a ways to go in order to really learn from each individual users sleep and movement patterns. The material or feel is also a tad on the annoying side in my opinion, but may be because I am a little particular when I sleep.

i got this for hubby because he snores. It was easy to charge up and start using. the band fits him well and he's around 220 lbs. the first night he said he noticed it immediately. then he would forget to put it on. he hasn't worn it enough to get a sleep pattern, so i need to remind him. but its a slight gently buzz on your chest and its enough to wake you from your deep snore and move you to your side. i suggest giving it a try. it doesn't work when he snores on his side but most often he is sleeping on his back when he snores so this comes in handy and he takes it on vacay so i can get some sleep.

    Interesting Sleep Aid

I snore, especially in Texas where we have allergies all year round. When I saw this sleep aid band, I was interested in trying it, especially since my wife snores too, I thought we could both try it out. First off - there's no app you need to download to control this. That being said, there's no integration with Apple Health or anything like that. The band itself is what controls, stores, and shows your results. The premise is interesting. The device will vibrate as a way to nudge you off your back and on to your side during the night. This can be problematic if you're a back sleeper primarily, like I am. I'm more comfortable on my back than on my side. The device knows if you're on your back or side, so I assume there's some kind of gyro-mechanism that indicates that. If you don't respond, the vibrations will increase in intensity until you move. Several times wearing this, the vibrations actually woke me up, so I guess I really didn't want to move. Over time, it became more natural, but at first, it was an odd sensation. My wife tried it too with better results than me. But she's also a side-sleeper, so I think she's more of the target audience for this. I did notice that I felt a bit better after sleeping several nights wearing the band, so I guess I was getting better quality of sleep. At least I noticed that my throat wasn't bone dry and raspy in the morning, so that's a plus.

I picked this up to help with snoring. The Phillips Smart Sleep works by strapping the sensor to your chest and after 30 minutes of sleep, the unit starts to vibrate when you turn on to your back. It shows percentage you were on your back, how long you slept on your back and how long you were in bed. The problem I ran into was the unit would tend to slide to the side I was sleeping on. The vibration give you enough to help you turn over. The display was easy to see in the dark, but with the lights on it was a little washed out. The Smart Sleep is great for those who only snore when sleeping on their back but doesn't help those who snore in other sleeping positions.

My wife says my snoring is no longer at a level that keeps her up, so in her opinion it was worth the investment. Personally, it is a lot more comfortable than a CPAP and easier to use too. This device does not monitor one’s snoring, it monitors whether you are on your back (positional monitoring). The thinking is that lying on one’s back is conducive to snoring; a gentle series of vibrations is generated from the device causing one to roll onto the side. I think it helps but the real proof is the wife...she agrees.

    Life Changing Device

I purchased this after years of suffering from occasional snoring and waking up exhausted. I participated in a sleep study a few years ago and was found to have low-level positional (supine) sleep apnea, but a CPAP was not recommended and I was not eager to use one. After my spouse complained about being awakened again and again by my snoring, I began exploring options and found the Philips SmartSleep. It was more reasonably priced than some other devices, and seemed to be geared precisely toward my cause of snoring/sleep apnea. It took about two minutes to adjust the band to fit my chest and find a comfortable position, and that was all the setup required. It was pretty mild for the first few nights, then it "learned" my habits and was more intense when it vibrated. After about a week and a half, I found that I had adapted to it and now tend to sleep on my side most of the time. When I do roll onto my back, the device vibrates (shortly after I am on my back, it seems) and I roll onto my side. I have no trouble falling back to sleep immediately, and have found that most nights it only activates 2-3 times. My quality of sleep is better than it has been in years, and I have been more refreshed and alert. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who suffers from supine-based sleep apnea, this is the best device I have found.

I tend to sleep in my back. When I do, I usually snore. This wakes up my wife and I feel bad my snoring keep her up. This device helps to force you to sleep on your side. While sleeping on your side, you are less likely to snore. The controls and display is a tad confusing but you get used to it after a few uses.

Let me make it clear, this device helps manage your snoring. It does not make my snoring stop-- it makes me conscious of my position so that it makes me alter the way I am lying down. It really does help but the best way to understand this device is for you to understand what it really does. I am a skinny guy with the snore of a war ship. I am really loud when I sleep on my back When I put this on, when I sleep on my back for a good amount of time, it gives me a jolt so that I am aware that I am on my back which is my loud snoring position, so it reminds me to roll to my side. Does it make me sleep better? It depends. The vibration on the device is really strong that it can be disruptive. It is the same as my lady waking me up to make me roll to my side. So it does help manage the snoring which is actually much better for the people who can hear my snore. Honestly, I think this device is more made for the people around me, not me necessarily. It is a good device. I use a CPAP machine myself. With that, it really helps me sleep soundly while it stops me from snoring while I wear it. The downside is, a CPAP machine requires a power supply and it is a lot to carry. I do not carry my CPAP machine when I travel because it is not convenient. This is where I believe this sleep snoring band helps me. I simply slip it in any bag and I can go anywhere and have a snoring management solution. It is where my CPAP machine cannot go. Also, this device takes some getting used to. So when I mentioned earlier, does it make me sleep better?-- it depends. It depends on the people who I sleep with, it depends on how it jolted me in the middle of my dream, it depends how long I stay sleeping on my side. It is a good device. I like it. Just do not necessarily expect it to stop your snoring or to make you sleep better. Think of it as your wife placed in a 7-inch device. It will help you rollover when you need to.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy this was to use and how comfortable it is to wear. There is not much to the setup. When you open the box all you need to do is plug it in and give it a full 8 hour charge. Then it is ready to use. The instruction manual is great and easy to follow. I appreciate the images in the book too. The chest strap is super comfortable. I have used heart rate monitors when running and those are always a little uncomfortable for me. But this was very comfortable. I completely forgot I was wearing it. The strap is easy to adjust and will fit many body types for sure. Basically to start using it you just push the button on top to turn it on. Then you hold the power button down for two seconds to set it for monitoring. Lay down and try to sleep. I wasn’t sure what to expect the first night but I felt a little buzz when I moved to my back. And I simply rolled back over. That was it. I felt like I was totally used to wearing it and didn’t think about it again after about 3-4 days. Ever since then it is just a part of my routine for going to bed. I fee like I sleep better and my wife has commented that she doesn’t hear my showing anymore.
