Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the money... this cannot be beat. I got the 830-k for $249.99 and this was an upgrade from my 10 year Denon I had. The sound is great and I love the wireless feature. The only con I have about this unit is that their are no real instructions, just a quick setup. If you want the fill instructions, you will have to go to Pioneers website. It's not difficult to setup if you have some experience with networks and receivers. if you don't... you have a good chance of getting frustrated setting it up. Once it is setup though... lots of enjoyment awaits you.

Great mid-level receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This receiver has plenty of inputs and a lot of great features that you don't normally see at this price point. Being able to listen to pandora without any extra equipment is a nice bonus.

Great Starter system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paired this with a Bose acoustimass 10 series ii and a 12 inch powered sub. Took some tweaking after letting it auto calibrate. Auto calibration sounded decent but changing all speakers to small and the subwoofer to PLUS really made a difference when it came to overall production over small speakers in our living room. If you have used satellite speakers before, you know how hard it can be to get a full sound. With a programmable Crossover setting, full immersion of sound is possible and once tweaked this system is amazing. Worth every penny spent, although I didn't spend much {Best buy had the best price hands down, although it didn't last long} :)

Excellent receiver for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have recently replaced my 10 year old onkyo receiver with this one, when I saw this on sale at Bestbuy.com. Replacing the receiver was a breeze. Just moved the cables over, auto-configured the speakers with the included Mic and programmed my harmony remote and that's it. Done in one hour. I had one issue with harmony remote not changing the input for my devices. I figured that out to be a power-on delay setting on the remote. My main requirements are more HDMP ports and great surround sound and this receiver satisfies both. I haven't played with bluetooth or Wifi settings yet. This receiver can deliver rich surround sound for a big family room.

Hard to use, issues switching inputs, invalid doc
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this unit primarily to get surround sound, play DVDs and music CDs, and listen to FM radio. I was not necessarily planning to use the WiFi or stream video/audio. Selecting different inputs was not intuitive and there was long delays switching from say, CD to HDMI. It often seemed like it would not switch until I turned the unit off and back on. Selecting inputs such as analog for a CD was a multi-step process. Even volume control was weird, with negative dB readings, with less negative being higher volume. The documentation is not accurate. Some things, such as selecting a preset for FM radio, I could not figure out. I ended up returning the unit after one week. Best Buy was good about the return, with no restocking fee like they promised. It was recommended that I buy a center speaker for dialogue audio for movies on DVD, but thought I’d try it first without. Dialogue could hardly be heard. Later, I opted for a Sony receiver that was easy to use. I bought center speakers, but the Sony even outputs dialogue audio to my main speakers much better than the Pioneer, so you could try skipping the center speakers.

iPad app could not find Pioneer VSX-830
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I downloaded the iPad app to do the installation. The app could not find my product and told me to troubleshoot. The wireless light on the was "blinking." Still, the app could not find the VSX-830 Pioneer. My wireless was running okay because I was on the iPad. There was nothing to troubleshoot. I am returning to the store to get another receiver.
