Works like a charm!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a value over something like the Apple external drive. I bought a new iMac recently without the built in drive and needed something like this to read and rip discs. I use it mostly to burn DVD and Blu-ray movies and it’s superb. It plugs in with a dual USB cable so you’ll need 2 free ports. When it is ripping a disc it runs a bit loud, but doesn’t bother me. I’ve grown to really love this tiny little device. It’s literally the size of a disc and super lightweight.

BR/DVD/CD excellence
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Impressed with this USB3 optical media reader / burner. It seems to be marketed toward the Mac user but worked flawlessly on my Linux desktop. I can only speak on general performance which seems adequate. It is about as compact as a optical drive can get so it should be easy to transport. Most users will likely be laptop owners. I built a small desktop which does not allow space for internal optical drives. I drag out this drive only as needed which helps mitigate desktop clutter.

Great Burner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used this a few times now to burn some backup files on to a blu-ray disc. I don't believe it came with any software, but I have found Cyberlink's Power2Go to be a good free utility to burn basic media. I've had trouble with burning blu-rays using windows explorer in the past so I've just made a habit of using the Cyberlink software. I like the pop up lid over the sliding tray for several reasons. Primarily I feel like it would be less prone to being broken.

portable and easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great burner for its size. A little noisy at times, but I like the plug-and-play convenience and compatibility. The USB cable that ships with the unit has a USB splitter (one for data and one for power) in case your computer needs the extra power boost. My 15" MacBookPro has 2 USB ports but on opposite sides of the computer. So if I want to use the accompanying USB splitter, I need to have an extension cable for one of the connectors because the splitter length is only a couple inches long. Perfect if you have 2 open USB ports next to each other, or if one USB port supplies enough power to only need one port. Other than that, it is a good performing drive.

Excellent product. Perfect price/Value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unit works great for windows and mac. Uses little energy so all desktop and laptops run it no problem. Compatible with XP and 7 and 8. And all Mac versions. Best part is the override button that allowes opening even if not plugged in. This is my second unit. Totally happy.

Best USB 3.0 External Bluray Burner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My bluray burner in my laptop broke, so I took it out and installed a hard drive in its place - in a special optical bay caddy. I wanted a USB 3.0 burner, and the pickings were slim. After much research, I settled on this Pioneer - and it definitely turned out to be the best choice I could of made. I use it a lot, and have had no errors ripping or burning (using good Verbatim media). It's quite silent when just watching a movie, and even pretty silent when ripping or burning, although at times it can spin up and get a bit loud...but it's honestly not bad at all. Conclusion: It took me a while to find a drive that was actually USB 3.0, not just claiming to be...but the research paid off because this drive has been awesome so far - and I put it to work a lot. Something to make sure you're aware of though...there seems to be a decent amount of people saying this drive does not work with Windows 10...That might have been a few months ago ( I don't know), but it was literally plug-and-play for me using Windows 10 64 bit Professional.

Great Product - Terrific Price too
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an iMac 27 all-in-one. Although Apple does NOT support Blu-ray discs with their SuperDisk DVD external drive, I am now able to read my over 1,000 Blu-ray discs and convert them to MP4 using the "Leawo Blu-ray Ripper" software (3rd party software). The price for this drive is exceptionally appealing, as I have seen other external drives for more than double. The only drawback is that the disc cannot be ejected using the eject button on the upper portion of the drive, but must be ejected using the actual drive icon on my iMac desktop....no big deal though. In short, I love this drive, and have purchased an additional two drives for my two sons, who also have iMac computers.

Excellent Blu-ray Drive for Macs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Why Apple doesn't offer a blu-ray drive optin for their latest laptops/portables escapes me. This drive does everything Apple's Super Drive does and more. It's sleek, fast, doesn't require two USB ports and one of just a few portable that supports usb 3.0 I only wish it came with software for the Mac for playing blu-ray disks

Perfect for MacBook Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had an external DVD player for years, but as I've bought more Blu-ray Discs I really wanted a way to watch them on my MacBook Pro. I read the online reviews and this Pioneer unit came out on top in most of the reviews. Setup was easy as pie, and the device works perfectly on Blu-Ray, DVD, and CDs. Never had a problem with it!

Perfect Flawless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 3 years my portable Pioneer Blu-ray burner stopped working. So I was able to upgrade with this little gem. Couldn't have been easier... Plugged into both USB ports on my laptop period. Open up image burn and was able to quickly burn several Blu-ray DVDs. Hard to believe in this day and age that something so inexpensive can be such a power. Go with Pioneer every time.

This thing just works.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these after trying my son's that worked so much better than the more expensive full sized external unit I had bought. This this is small, USB powered and just plain works. And the price was much better than my troublesome full sized AC powered unit that wouldn't even work with a USB3port on me Asus laptop.

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to use. I use this to create Blu Ray discs for clients who need a disc to show as well as to create Screening discs for film festivals. It might take a few minutes your first time to figure out the mechanics of software but there isn't anything too difficult to learn. Very lightweight and doesn't take up much room in your luggage or space on your desk.

Great External BluRay/DVD/CD RW
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Pioneer External USB 3.0 Drive is a great buy. It was extremely easy to install and so far I have had no issues with use. It’s low profile means it doesn’t eat up desk space and since it is USB 3.0 compatible it allows for quick, versatile connectivity with most laptops/desktops. I bought this at BestBuy and the price was reasonable.

#1 dvd/cd drive w/BluRay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.simple to setup, easy to use, and priced right is my opinion of this Pioneer drive. Using the included software this device can play BluRay discs, as well as standard DVD's and CD's. I've used this device several times a week connected to my 27" iMac and love everything about it.

Good drive if you can tolerate the noise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This drive is fast, slim and fits nicely into a laptop bag, but is extremely loud. If you are not using it to watch DVD or Blu-ray movies, it would be an excellent choice. I returned the one I purchased because it was too loud for use in a quiet environment.

Plays and burns bluerays perfectly.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is easy plug and play. There is no software for video playback that comes with it, hence the price. Any Windows operating systems newer than Windows 7 will not have any unless yours came with an upgraded software bundle. If you have a mac, it is automatically included in the operating system. I use Cyberlink Power DVD products because they are such excellent software, I don't mind paying for them, but there are free products out there for the money conscious. I have never had a bad burn with this burner, and I have burned hundreds of items. This is the second one I've owed, as I accidentally dropped the first one on concrete (after dropping it on carpet dozens of times) and the impact was finally more than it could take (I actually shattered the red laser lens, though the blue laser was still working). It was such a good unit that I had no qualms buying a second. Obviously, I think this is a good product.

Decent blu ray drive, no software
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mainly purchased this drive to take advantage of Vudu's disc to digital offer so I could have my blu ray collection converted. There wasn't any software included that allows blu ray playback on windows 10 and I have yet to find a free software solution. I have not burned any blu ray disc or dvds as it is much cheaper at the moment to save my files on a 4tb external hard drive I own. Physically the drive matches nicely to my laptop and is very portable. It does get kind of loud when reading the discs. I have ordered a USB 3.1 type c cable to use with the drive for convenience and to see if there is any performance improvements.

Does exactly what it says it will
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great option for case builds with no internal drive. Plug and play with no issues so far. Installed multiple applications using it. Only complaint would be it's a little loud, but not worth removing a star as I'm only using it to install software and burn discs. Not running the majority of the time.

Works as advertised
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't used it much yet. I'm using this with the late 2015 iMac which does not have an optical drive. I tested it and it plays DVDs just fine and it plays CDs just fine and after I downloaded some free software, it plays Blu-rays just fine. I like compact size so I can put it away when I'm not using it.
