This blu ray drive has served me very well for making my blu ray collection digital and creating an mkv library. Be sure to download the pioneer utility driver for it so you can run it at max speed.

I love how small and portable the drive is, it kinda makes a noise but what would you expect out of a cd dvd drive ? For the price this is perfect you just gotta download a app to use the drive.

Got this just after Christmas. Love it so far. I can take my blu-rays anyway, burn new ones and load disc-to-digital copies via vudu.

This disc drive enables me to watch Blu-ray movies on my laptop screen, quietly with headphones, when the rest of my family wants to do something else with our big screen setup. Note that additional software, sold separately, such as CyberLink PowerDVD 17, is necessary to make this work. The combined cost of both is in line with prices for a Blu-ray player attached to a TV, so no worries. Now I can watch all those old movies, art films, and science fiction, even if no one else wants to see them. By the way, this disc drive requires two USB ports (the second one for additional power) physically next to each other, and one of these ought to be USB 3.0 (SS), so make sure you have a spare pair.

I looked around for a quality blu ray player for my macbook pro that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg & this is the one. Very slim so it fits nicely in my laptop bag. It is very quiet & has worked very well for me so far.

I was very pleased with this product! I was able to burn some blurays on my mac at work and take them to my windows pc at home and have no issues. The discs burn perfectly. The compact package, easy usb plug and play connection and burning speeds made me very happy with this product. It's a little noisier than I hoped for since I work in a quiet office but that's just being nitpicky.

I needed an external DVD drive for my Mac Book Pro and I purchased this one. It is lightweight and fast. It is able to make Blue Ray disc but I have tried that yet. It does well for what I need

I was looking for a blu ray reader that I could use to rip movies to my MacBook to view on Plex; this did exactly that. The reviews that complain how the drive does not come with any software are true, but you can simply download MakeMKV for mac online and setup from there is a breeze. I also was able to use the drive as a blu ray player when connected to my laptop, which was connected to my tv via HDMI. After researching different models and patiently watching prices, I am totally satisfied with this one by Pioneer and would definitely recommend it.

The Blu-ray disc player meets my expectations and works well with my PC. The only drawback is I wished it came with some software (even a trial version).

Burns Dual layer media my LG Bluray burner wont. Works perfectly as a burner and player on my Macpro desktop and my Macbook pro laptop.

This unit is very user friendly. It is very slim so,it fits nicely in the bag that I purchased to store the computer. I can pull it out anywhere and play or download music or videos.

Works great. If you have a USB-C only laptop you can buy a USB 3 to USB C connector and it will work perfectly. Very compact. Works great. Can get a little loud though.

I've only had to use this once so far, and that was to load a music CD into iTunes on my iMac. It worked great right out of the box, plugged it in and I was good to go. Only quibble was once it was done with the CD it didn't stop spinning. I had to do a "force eject" using the switch on the underside to get it to stop spinning so I could get the CD out. That may have something to do with my computer, but I thought I'd mention it. Once I've used it more, if my assessment changes, I'll update this or post a new review, but as for right now, I'm loving it

Works with my PC laptop and MacBook pro. Sold as Mac but works with Windows as well. Does not come with software but there are many free softwares out there to use with it

The Pioneer BDR-XD05S external drive does a good job for what it is, an external blue ray player. However, if you own a MAC, you will have to do some research and find the correct drivers to make it work. I tried two, one from Pioneer and one from Apple. Mac Pioneer Drive U for me, did not work on our MAC. We have the 27 inch MAC, running El Capitan. However, I did find free mac blu ray player in the Apple store and that driver DID work! Before finding the free mac blu ray player app, I was considering taking the unit back to Best Buy and letting them know that it did not work with MAC OS X El Capitan. But, fortunatly it idid work with the correct drivers. I don't know why MAC does not include a blu ray player or blu ray app for MAC preinstalled on the MAC. This IS 2017 after all! And if you want to put software on your computer, be it PC or MAC, the software on a disk, will likely be via blu ray. Not everyone wants to take the time and eat up the resources to download a large program. Overall, with a little patients and research, I would recommend this product. It works well. It's quite, and convenient. The only downside, is that it does not play 5 K. So, the picture quality of a blu ray movie won't look as good on your 5 K resolution MAC or PC. But, as stated before, if you need to load software from blu ray, or burn a blue ray, this is a good option for you. And it's under a hundred $$!!!!

Works very well, and price wasn't bad either. It would be better if player software were included. It is necessary to download 3d party software to play a movie.

I got this disc burner with my new laptop because the laptop didn't have disc drive. I wish that it came with burning software. I would have paid a few more dollars to have it include the software. The cover does feel a little flimsy, but so far it works well. I thought that it would be slow running over USB but it was still pretty fast. I am using it on a Mac book pro with USB3.

I didn't have a lot of choices to choose from but this external bluray burner came out beyond my expectations especially its price. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

So far I couldnt be happier after returning the external mac drive and picking up this instead. Was cheaper, had great reviews, and has blue ray capabilities.

It doesn't come with any software so youll need to find a good program online to watch blu-rays but it seems to do what it's supposed to do. Good product.
