When the product finally did work it worked well for the most part. This product does not come with the software needed to run it so do your research and make sure your laptop can find compatible software for this burner.

I would give the item 5 stars except for two things. One the metal lid seems a little flimsy. The other problem is that the metal lid doesn't always release when you push the Open button. Not a show stopper and for the few times I actually use the drive it has been fine.

I was especting movie quality from this product but its ok

I have had no workability problems with the Pioneer BDR-XD05S working with my MacBook. The only problem encountered was this external Blu-Ray requires 2 USB ports.

My new laptop does not have an optical drive, and so I needed an external drive for the occasional CD download or disk burning. This one is perfect for reading & writing to a variety of media.

I had a problem with this drive. It worked, but it would not open to eject the dvd. I could use the manual release on the bottom, but I tried 3 dvd's and it would not eject any of them. I returned and bought the apple dvd.

I was a little put off by the eject mechanism when I received it - it seemed a bit flimsy, but after working with the drive you come to realize it is small but tough - have burned and ripped several discs with no issues.

this burner does the job. for the price I thought it was the best value. works fine, but be warned that Windows doesn't come with a Blu-ray player so you have to get third party software.

One of the features of this so-called "MacOS" compatible drive is that when the door is closed, MacOS mounts the disk and is unwilling to open the drive, even though you may press the stop button. You must bring up the disk utility and unmount the disk manually. When you do that the door pops open. I had to read through four pages of reviews to finally learn the secret. It is not in the manual. Pressing the up arrow on the keyboard (upper right) does nothing. After all that, the drive is very slow, and of course thereis no bluray player included with.

This GIFT, though highly rated, has already lost tracking and sound. Purchased in October, broken by December. We will try to get replacement, but that will be up to the store itself.

I was looking to get an external Bluray drive to use with an AIO computer. I looked everywhere for one, but most were too cost-prohibitive. I settled on this one. While it does what it is meant to, I was slightly disappointed by the fact it needs 2 USB ports, made even more inconvenient by the fact that the built-in USB cables are only a couple inches long, meaning the drive has to sit really close to the actual ports. Plus, the lid is just a nuisance.

Co-worker purchased a DVD R/W for the same price I got this Bluray writer. The drive is light, quick, and works right out of the box for a Windows 7 (64 bit) system with no additional drivers to be installed.

I returned this itram because it did not work with the software on my MacBook. It may work with yours but I haven't had much luck overall finding a blu-ray drive that does work.

I purchased this for my iMac. It works well but slower than full sized internal or external drives. Only required 1 USB port to power.

I purchased this product to use with my ASUS laptop. I found this to be truly plug-n-play. Though very lightweight, it is sturdy and excellent quality.

Had it for about 2 weeks now. i have a dell xps 12 ultrabook (great ultrabook) and needed a drive so that I can backup my bluray and dvd collection, and this little guy is AMAZEBALLS!! I've been working both the ultrabook and drive on overtime and it hasn't broke a sweat yet. I was skeptical at first and thought that it'll be too slow, it's slow but not that slow as you expect. For the price to performance it's a FANTASTIC DEAL and great product. Slim, quiet-ish, but performs amazingly.

Everything is NOT working fine. The unit will read and download files---But the only way I can retrieve a disk is unplug the unit and turn it over and push the force open lever.

Works great with my Windows 10 system. I prefer the clamshell vs. powered drawer opening. If you need pre-recorded Blu-ray capability you'll need that as an add on.

While I like this product, its ease of use is not what I expected. I am having a hard time using it for video playback.

Since the iMac has no internal DVD drive this works great.
