I bought this last year because my Apple SuperDrive doesn't play Blu Rays. This Pioneer Drive played everything I tried, even some majorly scratched up DVDs & CDs. I couldn't have been happier. Until about a month after I purchased it. Then it would just stop working while it was being used. The light would go out, clueing me to the fact that the connection was failing. I checked my USB Port and that wasn't the problem. So I connected it to another laptop and it continued to do it. I called Best Buy and all they told me was that I needed to call Pioneer. I took it in, and I showed them what it was doing, so they took it to their Geek Squad office and brought it back out five mins later, telling me that there's nothing wrong with it, when I'd just showed them what it was doing. So I went ahead and called Pioneer, who told me that I'd need to send it to them at my cost, and if they couldn't find anything wrong with it, then they'd send it back, again at my cost. It would only take about two months. So I gave up. It's really too bad because I really liked this unit. Now I'm looking for another one to replace this one. It's pretty bad when my friend's $30 Blu Ray Drive is still working flawlessly after two years of heavy use, and I couldn't get this one to last a month.

Fulfills its job of burning discs. If you are looking for a low cost unit to burn discs, this one does the job well. But do not consider this unit if you intend to watch movies from disc. Saying this unit is VERY LOUD is an understatement...

Product worked great 1st time. Additional software is needed to operate regular DVD and Blu Ray options. Shop around if all you need to do is burn a disc. Direct customer support for this product not very helpful.

Saved me... No laptops come with disc players anymore

Good burner. If working with Apple product, sometimes have had to call AppleCare due to updates with Final Cut (it's on Apple's end, not the burner's). Excellent quality discs produced.

This is exactly what I wanted! I Love that I only need to use one USB 3.0 port (it has the option to use a second one for power). I also like the top load feature.

This did burn a regular dvd without errors But it took 45 minutes. In addition to that it uses 2 USB plugs, one for power and one for data. As it this wasn't enough the cables are about 3 inches, not enough to reach around from one port on my MacBook PRO to the 2nd USB on the other side of my Macbook.

I bought this drive on the recommendation of a friend, after he had bought one for his Mac. I had just changed Windows laptops and while my old Dell Precision had a Blu-ray drive, my new Dell Precision did not and I missed having portable Blu_ray access. I had ZERO problems with this device once connected to my PC. Windows 7 recognized it and loaded the appropriate driver and the upgrade to Windows 10 also had no problems. I have also connected it to several Mac systems with similar/zero problems. Highly Recommended.

I Bought this blu-ray burner to archive video and pics of our kids and drone videos. It has worked well for us no complaints other than my 4k drove shots are sometimes to big for a blu-ray to hold!

The surfacePro 3 will not power it...even when the computer is plugged in. You need to purchase the optional AC adapter from Pioneer. Other laptops with more than one USB port may work. Otherwise, the device works fine on my desktop.

Works well but too expensive for me since it does not include the software to play Blu-ray movies. Returned.

After a terrible buying experience with the BESTBUY teams in MUNCIE INDIANA -- I still needed to purchase a DVD player. MUNCIE BESTBUYS had NO DVD players even though they sold me DVD software with my computer stating I REALLY NEEDED IT. I go on line to BESTBUY and I look over and over I purchase 2 DVD players -- an LG which lasted a day and a half and cost me $180- in player and software updates right out of the box then it quit working the next day. I purchased THIS PIONEER BLU-RAY Burner. It does not say on the product information here on the web site but this is ONLY FOR A MAC -- After it arrived and never worked and after BESTBUY said I needed to purchase more software to make it work it says right on the box ( MAC ) it also says on the box in fine print on the side of the box ---- Blu-Ray playback will not work on most notebook computers -- IT ALSO DOES NOT WORK ON THE --HP SPECTRE -- but then again the HP SPECTRE is a worthless item .

This is an excellent drive that is portable (light-weight)

This blu ray dvd burner is not 8x, it is 6x. I tried to burn on 8x and it didn't work. I called customer service and complained about it, but all they could do is tell me to trade it out in store. Overall, it burns in 6x.

I admit, When i first started using it, I got scared because it was running really loud, but it turns out that's normal because the read speeds on this external drive is fast!

The product delivered everything promised (in the description) and it arrived a day after I placed my order online. I would recommend the product and Best Buy's shipping department. I'm a happy customer!
