Decent thump, bad compatibility for price

I purchased the Pioneer Elite VSX-LX305 for my medium sized home theatre (~1500 cubic feet). It generally had some thump but, despite advertising it is "IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision compatible" it never was able to detect IMAX Enhanced content nor did it play content in Dolby Vision when video signals were routed to the receiver. The Dolby Vision may be a problem particular to my Apple TV streaming box, which would not play 4K Dolby Vision through the receiver, but would through my Sony 85" full array TV. Obtaining tech support for Pioneer products is challenging if you can get someone on the phone, and even then they did not have a definitive solve for the IMAX Enhanced issue. No backlit remote in home theatre also quite disadvantageous. The crossover frequency cannot be adjusted for individual speakers, there is only one setting for all of them. The receiver also did not do well porting sound out to my surround speakers - they always sounded too low despite room correction using MCACC or Dirac Live.

Pioneer vsx lx 305 display model works good but I though it came with remote. Was told by salesman couldnt find it. I ask at least put in box so he found a generic box. Not very impressive. When I got home opened box receiver didn't even have an electrical cord. Stars taken for service.

An amazing audio and video receiver with all the latest technology that you need. Ease of operation of the Pioneer Elite unit in support of TV, tuner, Blue Rey CD/DVD, Bluetooth, Vinyl record turntable, or any accessory is superb.

My speakers came alive! Great sounding receiver. Set up was difficult - especially getting the 3 zones to work. No manual provided in the box. Still not sure I have tamed this beast. I replaced a 100w per channel Yamaha amplifier with an Adcom preamp tuner with this Pioneer tuner.

Excellent, I got first the vsx 935 and returned since the back surround channel was almost dead; so, I got this one and wow. After the calibration using the included Dirac live the sound is even better!! 100% recommend

Replaced an aging Harmon Cardon receiver with this, and I am very happy. Haven’t really had a chance to play with all the tuning features yet as we are redoing our living room right now and upgrading a bunch of equipment. So far everything has worked quickly and easily, my wife doesn’t find it complicated to use which is a big plus, and I am happy with the sound. A little spendy but worth it in my opinion.

    MAajor HDMI switching issues.

The Pioneer 305 like the Onkyo 7100, which I returned, have major HDMI switching issues that need to be addressed before I can recommend either. When switching from one HDMI function, say DVD, to another, say cable/sat, both receivers hang, go blank, go silent, turn screen white, blonk on and off or just freeze. This is a SERIOUS issue with HDMI reliability. My system is not complicated: Sony TV, OPPO DVD played, Comcast cable box. That's it! I still have the Pioneer VSX LX305 and will keep it since I found a work-around that involved me disconnect my Comcast cable box from HDMI 1 and plugging it into my TVs HDMI 1 input. For $1,300.00 I should be able to use every Pioneer/Onkyo input. I never had this issue with my Marantz NR1710, which I have as a back-up, as it is a 7.1, 50W per channel, as opposed to my newer 9.1, 100 watt Pioneer. Bottom lone: the Onkyo and Pioneer, both from the same parent company need a serious and IMPORTANT furmway HDMI update. Untill then, look fir another brand.

Easy to use Im still in Process of figuring out my sound out points so im testing all types of movies that have lot of action

being a life time favorite of Pioneer products, pleased as allways, I'm going to get in touch with Geek sqad for some technical settings on this receiver. Still being old school I'm using my bose AM-7 Series that I purchased in 1994 which still sounds like they were bought yesterday.

Great product. I got it for Dolby Atmos and it is awesome. The best way to test it out is the race scene in ready player one. It will blow your mind
