Awesome Sub for a great price

All the deep, pillowy bass you could possibly want. Down-firing speaker makes the bass non-directional. Lots of adjustability with Cutoff Frequency, Volume, and Phase controls. I like the power mode switch too - "Auto" turns the unit on when a signal is detected and shuts it off after a few minutes of inactivity. Glad I don't have to constantly worry about turning it on and off (which you can also do if you want). Can't believe the great price and how much this has enhanced my setup! Simple, good looking design and sturdy build. LOVE IT.

    Powerful and Sounds Great

I rated this product 5 stars based on merit. I purchased a couple of speakers to compare and to be sure they were comparable and compatible with my existing system. This speaker by far sounded better than the others. The bass blends smoothly, it is loud when you need it to really bump, but is smooth when you want it to not overpower your music. This is a great replacement speaker, I actually believe it is better than what I had originally. Get this speaker and you will not be disappointed. You will experience the difference as soon as you plug it in and connect it.

great entry subwoofer for mid size home

lacking some low end bass but movies its a diffrent story, i bought this sub along with polk audio book shelfs and for some reason the polk audio book shelfs was heavier than this sub , though the light weight concern me as i know the magnet and wood construction has alot to do with weight but dont let that fool you, it sounds great when you tune the sub for mid bass but if you want some low bass sound, you need to place the sub at a corner of a wall . if the front firing is facing a wall you will get that low end bass reproduction, this sub was a great budget for a bed room movie and gaming. overall its a great sub to pair up with any small speaker systems.

This bottom throw forward port sub looks and sounds great up front and center in my viewing room. I like that it powers itself off and the cool blue power indicator in front proves it. The sub has nice frequency controls to allow proper tuning with the 7.1 Sony amp.

Solid performers. Both are connected to my Onkyo 7.2 receiver & create a great cinema/gaming experience. I'm very impressed with its clean delivery at this price range..

Just bought the second Pioneer Subwoofer for the house. The first one has been great, good deep sounds. I didn't hesitate to buy another.

So I have my Entertainment center in a corner with hard wood floors. I have a Sony STR-DH540 receiver connected to a pair of Bose 161s that sit flat right in front of my TV that produces amazing highs and mild mids. So I was missing bass and this was absolutely perfect! Great value and bass is more "punchy" than boomy or sluggish. Bass can be nice and taut after tweaked correctly. I listed to a sub at the store that was 4xs the amount but was NOT 4xs the sound. Now, did the more expensive ones sound a little better and hit with a bit more precision? Yes. Was the price justifiable? NO. Looking for great sound at a great price? Look no further...

    Good Bass for Less

I came from a 12 inch sub that stopped working to this one. There is a difference in the amount of volume and low end extension of course but not as big as you would think. My 12 inch sub was actually almost too much bass for the room size I had. This 8 inch model seems to provide the right amount of bass for my speaker setup without being overwhelming. I have all Pioneer Andrew Jones model speakers in the rest of my setup and they combine well with this sub as you would expect. I have the volume on the sub set to around 5 and the receiver volume level for the sub at 0 and this seems to work well. If you are in the market for a new sub or need to replace a bad one then this is a hard option to beat for the price and performance.

The perfect sub for budget-high end setups

I purchased the SW-8MK2 to anchor the bass of my home theater system. Hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V540 receiver, I mated this sub with its siblings - the Pioneer SP-FS52 floor standing towers and the SP-C22 center channel. After giving the sub about 10 hours worth of moderate break-in time, I let it loose on an action film. And wow, I love this sub. Thanks to the adjustable frequency knob on back, you can dial in the bass response. What you're doing is telling it to play bass frequencies from its lowest capability to your "preferred limit" in the higher bass frequencies. If you turn that knob all the way up, you'll get bass booming almost all the time, so use discretion. The sub also has its own volume adjustment. Connections are made with your choice of speaker inputs or RCA cables. My system outputs the sub signal over a single RCA cable - if that's your setup too, use that connection and run it to the sub's LEFT RCA input so you get the full 100W performance. Also, feel free to turn down the bass of your receiver and give your main speakers a break.

As a person who loves the sound of deep bass, this little Sub woofer packs quite a punch. Upon request at the Best buy i had a representative test out the Sub for me and I was astonished at the range of bass the 8" sub had. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to put a sub woofer in their room to buy this piece of equipment!

I have this sub paired with a pioneer receiver and it sounds great. This sub is perfect for a small to medium size room, and the sound is costomizable to fit your needs, I have the controls on the sub at about the half-way point and it shakes the room. Deep bass, great response, and no distortion that I'm aware of. For games, music, movies it's great. This sub can't be beat for the price, and Iwould recommend this sub to anyone that appreciates great quality, especially from Pioneer.

Lets just put it this way... Through mis-given information by a Best Buy AUDIO Rep (No less) did I end up with this subwoofer instead of the Gigantic Floor Speakers I REALLY wanted... But I am in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM disappointed once I Hooked this Baby up! : ) Smiling from ear to ear! I'm a brotha so I KNOW BASS and this sucker DELIVERS! I found out by doing my own research that the floor speakers I REALLY wanted actually ARE compatible with my new receiver as well. So I will be getting those as well in a few weeks.... All I can say is with All of the Bass in my Rap songs now.... I better start saving for a NEW PLACE because an eviction notice for noise is sure to follow! CANT WAIT! (P.S.) Along with what I recommend below... DONT FORGET YOUR CENTER SPEAKER! Really IMPRESS The Ladies! -BOOMING in Denver-

Was forced into buying a powered sub when I bought my new Yamaha AV receiver, an unexpected expense. So I had to look for the best sub at the best price, and I found it. This sub adds a natural sounding bottom to everything, and will rock the house when I want it to I am satisfied, and even happier that I got it on sale for less than the listed price.

This sub is ridiculously good... I had adopted around but relied on cnet mostly to find the best system under $500 and with this 5.1 system that you have to assemble you get exactly what you pay for and more I'm super happy with this product I won't be buying any new stereo systems anytime soon...oh and my sub rattles my house and is super clean only picks up what is supposed to be picked

Plenty of Bass for a small place

Since I live in an apartment and to be polite to my neighbors I chose this as My sub for now. I have found that I actually have to set the volume about half way or even lower to keep from causing to much rumble. The speakers have a very nice full low rumble that adds a nice low deep base to your sound system. This sub will clearly out perform any of the Subs I have heard in the all in one surround systems. I'm sure I will want more punch and a fuller bass sound someday but for my current living space and for the price this speaker has been great.

I wasn't really in the market for a subwoofer, but had a compatibility issue with my old Sony home theater in a box system after getting a new BluRay player for Xmas. First, had to purchase a new A/V receiver, which required a powered subwoofer. Decided on this Pioneer model, which seemed a good fit for our smaller family room. What a great choice! Booming, clean bass from a small enclosure that hides behind a recliner. Really happy with this speaker and recommend it highly for those who have space and/or budgetary limitations.

I have this with my home stereo and it does its job. I listened to all the available subs in the store and this one was the obvious pick. Its not too loud but does sound good. Only complaint is for over $150 or whatever the price was this thing doesn't come with any kind of cable or hookups so I had to drive 30 minutes back to Best Buy and purchase a subwoofer cable for $40 which was the cheapest. The guy I purchase all my products with was there and couldn't believe that it didn't come with anything either.
