My favorite pirates movie and worthy of a 4k upgrade.

Okay, if you are someone who loves "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" like myself, then DO NOT buy this movie on 4K! Keep your Blu-ray or DVD copies! Yes, the movie itself is great, and the packaging for this copy looks great, but the transfer on the 4K disc is AWFUL! The grain is removed, and they placed this dark gray-ish tint throughout the entire film in the 4K which makes all of the daytime scenes look like the film takes place all throughout the evening. And worst of all, you know how in the previous blu-ray had the 2-discs: One for the film with minor bonus material and the Second with all of the bonus material that lasts up to 2-3 hours of content, yeah, you will NOT get that disc 2 in this release, but you do get the same blu-ray disc, which has the movie, from that same 2-disc blu-ray set, and it says "Disc 1" labeled on it. But, you do NOT get "Disc 2", that is RIDICULUS! Then again, it's Disney, and they stopped putting in the effort into their movies when made on 4K as of recent years with catalog titles. But with newer titles, they'll make it look good for you. Overall, I give this 4K release as of whole a 2/5. Like I said, if you have your previous Blu-ray or DVD copies of this film, KEEP THEM! When you have your film on a standard Blu-ray disc and put it in a 4K player that can convert your Blu-rays to 4K with a 4K tv, DO IT! It makes the film look BETTER! Trust me, you will not regret it! The movie itself, I give it a solid 5/5. Common Disney, you can, you should, and you must DO BETTER!

This movie is almost 20 years old and still holds up. It's an amazing movie with a fantastic performance from Depp in the middle of it. The only downside is that the 4K transfer is not the best. Disney dropped the ball here.

This first Pirates movie is a real fun movie and I remember how taken aback my friends and I were when we first saw it. It's great to be able to watch it again in HDR. Just wish the sequels were half as good.

What an amazing score! The soundmix just pulls you into the movie! Hanz Zimmer...what else an be said. Nice 4k transfer and soundmix. One for any collection!

FINALLY. I just wish it had better HDR and less DNR. That said, still better looking than the 4K stream. Now, let's get 2, 3, and 4 so I can finish them all off in 4K. Since.. I now have 1 and 5.

This 4K transfer gets a lot of disrespect in the 4K community, and it could definitely be much, much better. That said, it's not as bad as some would make it out to be either. Giving this one star instead of two because the disc was scratched to heck and unwatchable. Had to return.

Nothing wrong with Best Buy on this one. Bought in store with ease and the condition of my copy was pristine. However, the 4k transfer itself is pretty bad. Any improvements in the visuals are minor and those pros are hampered more by smearing DNR artifacts that blur parts of the image when in motion. The ATMOS is pretty good by itself but doesn't outpace the PCM audio track on the Blu-ray.

One of my all time favorite films comes to 4K however the quality is a step below what Disney usually offers.

The movie is good. However this is one of the worst 4K transfers I've ever seen.

What can I say we've all seen it many times by now, but it is better in 4k. the sound is better too!

This was the best in the series so far. Buy the movie the streaming quality is just not as good.

The movie itself is great, but the picture quality was not. This does not look like what you would expect from a 4k movie. The colors are muddy at times. Often people/objects not directly in the foreground look blurry.

One of modern Disney's best films. Looks great on 4k but wish they held onto some of the special features.

This could have and should have looked so much better on 4k. Basically it looks like a good 1080p blu ray and doesnt live up to 4K standards. Still love the movie though.
