You don't really need it, but it is convenient. The main thing I don't like about it is the bottom lip is kind of shallow so it sometimes feels like the phone is going to slide off. This hasn't happened to me, but I imagine it'd be an issue if you're using a thicker case on the phone.

I like the ambient display features, like showing photos or home control options. I bought this when it was 50% off ($40 versus $80...I actually bought two of them). I gave this a 5 out of 5 on "value" based on the sale price, not the regular price. The regular price is too expensive, in my opinion, despite how nice the stand is.

Doesn't work with defender series otter box

Isn't compatible with the defender series of the otter box and puts the phone into a nasty cycle of sensing if it's in the cradle. Will drain your phone if it sits all night.

Fun and Convenient Stand for Pixel Phones

I get to see photos from my holidays while I'm working and it keeps my Pixel 4XL charged throughout the day. The angle of the stand also makes it very easily to unlock the phone with face unlock. I also definitely recommend this stand to anyone that does not have the google home minis around in order to use google assistant effortlessly.
