I like 80's comedies, but this one doesn't hold up as well as I thought it would. Both John Candy and Steve Martin give great performances, and this film is considered one of John Candy's best, but I didn't like it as much as I remembered.

I received a good price for this considering two discs and a digital copy and that I used a gift card. I have not seen the movie yet and I hope it is ok.

Watching Steve Martin be tortured by his increasingly bad luck is terrible and hilarious. John Candy is also spot on in his role as the unintentional bane of Martin's existence.

A classic movie. John Candy showing his comedic greatness, naturally, but also seriously tender dramatic moments. Really surprised to find this one in the $5 bin. Thanks, Best Buy.

Great movie. Classic John Hughes '80s comedy starring Steve Martin and John Candy. Unfortunately, Universal's transfer is badly dated and sports a very processed look, instead of a natural filmic one. Grain has been removed and edge enhancement has been applied liberally.

THIS IS ONE OF THOSE MOVIES. STEVE MARTIN A GREAT TALENT, AND THE LATE JOHN CANDY, (I never saw the attraction in his comedy) STILL WILL NOT GUARANTEE AN ENJOYABLE MOVIE EXPERIENCE. PLOT = POOR DIALOGUE = POOR RESULT MOVIE = POOR

A comedy classic and a must own

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a movie that you can watch again and again. The Blu-ray offers better picture and audio than the DVD I've had for the longest time. It would be unfair to compare this film to a more recent release or even other catalog releases with stunning audio and picture quality. For right now, this Blu-ray is the best this film is going to look and sound. It looks perfectly fine, sounds good -- it just won't blow you away, because it's not that kind of film. It's a great Blu-ray transfer for this film and if you're going to own it, the Blu-ray is a must have. This is, to me, Hughes' best film and Steve Martin and John Candy make this a must watch every year, especially around Thanksgiving.

I'm not a big comedy fan, but this is one that I really enjoy. Silly, slap-stick comedy with actual characters and a heart. We look forward to watching this every Thanksgiving. The picture quality is a big upgrade from the DVD -- although if you dislike DNR, you may be displeased. A very smooth looking picture. WARNING: The movie has one big drawback for family viewing: language. When the kids were young we always had to skip the car rental scene because of it's constant use of the the "f-word". It's actually done in a funny manner, but it's obviously not for young ears. Also, John Candy has several crude lines throughout. With a little less language this would be a great family comedy!
