    Best way to see 4K

Bought this with my Sony 4K player and by far the best example of what beautiful 4K looks like. Similar to what the original Planet Earth did for Blu-Ray, PE: II returns with more beautiful visuals. I will say, the only unfortunate point, for me personally (no attacks please), was that it seems Discovery didn't pick this series up and have Sigourney Weaver do narration. I personally prefer her voice to Attenborough's but it looks like they kept a true BBC version on this. Anyway, visuals are still top-notch. Enjoy!

Planet Earth was an astounding piece of documentary television and this second iteration does not disappoint. Using modern technology and new methods of filming you are transported into the wild unlike any other documentary has been able to thus far. With the assistance of crisp Ultra High Definition (UHD) and the vastly improved color spectrum of High Dynamic Range 10 (HDR10) the Earth is displayed in stunning fashion. Do yourself a favor and buy this version of the Planet Earth 2, you will not be disappointed.

As expected, picture quality was astounding. The title perhaps slightly misleading. The content is broken up into 3 basic parts and almost invariably centers around wildlife in those regions. I have nothing against wildlife..in fact I am an all out animal lover/advocate but the title of the film is "Earth"...and I was sort of expecting more geographical content. I am only a third of the way through so maybe that will change....regardless, i am a huge fan of the quality and scope of the film.

I did not believe that this 4k set would blow me away. However, it speaks for itself with the correct set up. The colors shown from the HDR and the amount of pixels make the animals and scenes larger than life. The actual scenes are quite amazing! Check them out on netfli.x however nothing beats physical media. I picked this up at a $30 price point when it was on sale and never looked back. Highly highly highly recommend, this is the best looking 4k in my collection!

If you want to see how amazing 4K can be, this is a demo disc! The cinematography on Planet Earth 2 is stunning. The detail from the 4k cameras translates amazingly well on 4k Blu Ray! Every pore, grain of sand, drop of water and lush environment can be seen with eye popping detail! The HDR on this disc makes the environments have a true 3D effect to them (no glasses needed) if you are looking for a disc to justify a 4k HDR TV purchase, this is the one for sure!

Like it or not I’m going to start this 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review of Planet Earth II off by admitting I’m not generally a fan of documentaries. Unless the subject matter really interests me I tend to find them boring and rather uninteresting. I’m sorry. I’m just wired ignorantly like that. However, if you’re and A//V enthusiast like us all here there’s no denying the special place Planet Earth holds in all our Blu-ray hearts. Back in 2006 it was one of the first television series to grace the format with its HD beauty. It showcased the possibilities of how grand HD video looked in the home front and basically gave Blu-ray (and HD-DVD at the time) a reason to exist. Now fast forward ten years and we have a new home format competing for our living rooms, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Coincidentally we have a new season of Planet Earth to properly display too. So in essence there’s really no better way to celebrate the first television series on the new 4K home format than by bringing BBC’s Planet Earth II onto the scene once again. I purchased this to show the capabilities of my Sony A8H. I figured I would just browse through this 4K UHD Blu-ray gawking at the video/presentation. And I have done that, but the Planet Earth series is actually pretty entertaining. I've found myself watching the episodes when I figured I'd only briefly watch them for the visuals. Something really good to watch with the Spouse and kids.

I love nature documentaries and I especially love them when David Attenborough is narrating them. I was so excited to hear that a Planet Earth 2 was being released and pre-ordered it instantly. Buying this in 4K is breathtaking, especially if you have an HDR capable TV. This could be considered a tech demo to show off how amazing these TVs can look with proper media. I watched the entire series over the course of three days and loved it. I would highly recommend it.

This is definitely a good show first off very informative and educational good for kids and grownups but the best thing of all is if you really want to test out how good your picture is on your 4K TV this is the way to go with all the bright and vibrant colors of Mother Nature you really can see why your 4K HDR TV can really do and how you set aside good picture TVs from bad picture TVs because most of the time in TV Land you get what you pay for.

In addition to this being a beautiful documentary, you will also get so much from seeing some of the beauty of this world up-close and personal through your TV. If you have a 4k TV and an HD Blu-Ray player, it is going to look like you have your own private tour of the planet and are looking through an open air window. Really, if you want to wow yourself, your family, and your friends, this is the movie to show. Simply a masterpiece and absolutely gorgeous!

I bought this in lead up to getting my Xbox One X (also ordered through Best Buy!) to put the 4k UHD BD player to the test. I have streamed a lot of 4K HDR content through Amazon, Youtube, and Netflix - but it pales in comparison to the uncompressed video quality found on a 4K Bluray. Planet Earth 2 is THE disc to have to showcase your new 4K TV, and will impress even non-home theatre/technology enthusiasts with its clarity, color and wow factor.

If you own a 4K television and 4K UHD Blu-ray player, Planet Earth II in 4K should be the FIRST thing you buy. Not only is it an incredible television series by BBC Earth, but it was shot using 4K cameras. So instead of it being filmed with 2K cameras and then upscaled, you get native 4K picture quality throughout all 6 episodes, and the results are absolutely stunning. A must own if you're trying to get the most out of your 4K TV!!

Over the past week I watched all six episodes of this show. Every episode contained beautiful imagery that really shined in HDR. While I could find favorites in each episode, I think my favorite was deserts; even though you might think this episode would be all monochrome sand colored, it actually has a lot of surprising vibrant color content. If you own a 4K television and a 4K blu ray player this disc set should be in your collection!

I purchased the 4K UHD version of Planet Earth 2 to watch on my recently purchased LG 70 inch NanoCell series TV. This series is an excellent addition to the original Planet earth series. This series is in 4K so the picture quality is superb. The colors are amazing.

The focal points are as follows: Deserts, Forests, Jungles, Beaches, Mountains, and Urban areas. This is an important documentary because of its impeccable display of animals acting as themselves in the wild. The BBC picked excellent examples of animals stories of survival, often reminding us how our species came to prominence. Planet Earth II is the best nature documentary and the mere fact that it is in 4K should be the icing on the cake.

Planet Earth II has always showed up on any 4K demonstration list I've seen. While it is great for showing how good 4K is, it also proves to be a wonderful exploration of our planet and all of its environments. It opens the mind to just how little we know of all the life on Earth.

After watching other productions on this level I was greatly impressed but I did not expect the consistency of quality to be so high. The sound is clear and well orchestrated. The pacing and editing is far superior to most productions.it's got to be one of the best productions the suitable for a child but sophisticated enough for any adult. The 4K clarity is mind blowing and far exceeds most productions even in IMAX and 3-D!

Planet Earth (the original) was one of my favorite tv series and Planet Earth 2 didn't let me down. There is a bit of a drop off from the first series simply because the uniqueness isn't there since a precedent had been set, but, with that said, Planet Earth 2 offers some more amazing scenes and the cinematography is incredible. Add 4k HDR to the mix and this is a must-purchase in my mind for entertainment and to showcase your 4K tv.

The footage captured in this documentary is absolutely amazing! The definition is so incredible that some scenes look too good to be real. Still need to watch the making of because one or two scenes look as if they used CGI to touch up certain parts but I can understand why considering it's very difficult to get clean footage of certain species on their natural setting. If you love nature documentaries this is a must have!

This series is THE reason (currently) to go out and buy a 4k/UHD player and compatible TV. The cinematography is absolutely breathtaking. The series provides access to areas and sights that the vast majority will never have the opportunity to see in person. Beyond that, the narration is excellent, as are the constructed stories. It is also an excellent reminder of both the beauty -- and fragility -- of the world around us.
