This is definitely a Tim Burton Planet of the Apes. I love Wahlberg, and I think the ending is suppose to be serious (it's not anywhere near as bad as a lot of people say) but it was hilarious, I LOVED it! Give it a go if you haven't seen it and you appreciate what makes Planet of the Apes good, but watch the original classic first to appreciate the twists they made in this one.

its a movie you really only watch every 4 years or so nothing to special about this version as it never got a sequel but it still can entertain as I bought this film for my children of 11 yrs & up to share movies of my day so I recommend watching through Netflix or any thing like that and if you like enough buy it.

I think that "Planet Of The Apes" was one of the greatest films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite films of all-time and an exciting and original remake of one of the greatest classic films of all-time which I really enjoyed and was also one of my favorite classic films of all-time. I also think that "Planet Of The Apes" had a lot of entertaining, enjoyable and exciting action, mystery, drama and suspense including amazing and original personal storylines.

This remake has some entertaining twists on the original with more action but less thoughtful dialogue and exploration of the social ramifications of the ape dominance theme. The kicker "twist" ending was a nice surprise: returning to earth where the hero ends and returns right where he's been.

If you liked the original "Planet of the Apes," you might also enjoy this re-telling of the first story that started the whole series of follow-up movies.. While the overall idea is similar to the original movie, there are major changes and a lot of surprises.

First off, this blu ray does not have any of the extras that the DVD edition of this movie had so hang onto it if you already have a DVD copy. Second, it has a different cover than the one shown on the Best Buy website. I prefer the new cover so that was fine with me. I loved Burton's version when I saw it in the theater at the time but now it seems so small and trite compared to Matt Reeve's reinterpretation. I still like some of Burton's choices and this was the first movie where I actually liked Mark Whalberg's acting. But overall, it could have been better. And they really should have added some extras.

I did not care for the original Ape movies and did not expect much from this one. My honey said it would be great because of the cast. He was so right. I loved it from the get-go all the to the ending that was perfection itself.

Many people have critized this version of the 1968 classic. I've find the movie entertaining and a closer approach to the original novel. It would have been nice to have had the opportunity to see sequels to this one. Lots of opportunities.

No way to ever match the original, That being said... this movie was fun to watch in a future horror show kind of way. Mark Wahlberg tries hard and the special effects are really great., Does make you hate apes though and that is a little sad,

This movie has a decent cast but the plot is quite weak. It is a remake of the original Charlton Heston movie. It is amazing how little costume design has improved from the original movie.

Great blu ray transfer. Hey, this movie gets a bad rap all the time. That said, it is fairly well done. Any fan of Planet of the Apes should have this in their collection. Last appearance by Charlton Heston in a Planet of the Apes movie - here he is an Ape - LOL.

Remaking the classic series, Matt Damon begins the story before the story. Separate from the more recent trilogy, he plays an astronaut sent to a different time where apes grew as the dominant species.

I liked this reboot of the Planet of the Apes. Great story and effects worthy of a sequel even though there was not one. The series was rebooted again with a different director. Only 4 stars I thought the ending could of been better.

It was a fun movie to watch, but is neither as good as those before it or even close to watch came after.

I am a fan of the Planet of the Apes in all forms so I had to have this. However, I would also add this is a film outside the established canon and that Tim burton's take on the franchise just doesn't click. Marky Mark's acting chops consist mainly of heavy breathing. Tim Roth overacts his way through his ape makeup. Is there a saving grace? Yes, Estella Warren is so beautiful you may long wistfully for her. Unless you are a super fan keep moving.

This one often gets bashed for completely misunderstood reasons. It's NOT A REMAKE as Tim Burton said it was a "Re-Imagining" of the original. Different from it story wise, character wise with a few similarities. It's a re-imagining! Like a re-written story/script. Enjoy the movie for what it is just as I did.

The sound quality is great on this copy, it's a strong demo reference copy for Blu Ray especially for the age of the movie, great to add to the old and new Blu Ray Apes collection before and after this one

Good movie and the story line is really good the picture itself has some fuzz in certain scenes

While not the true nostalgic classic, this is indeed the post-modern classic. I had to get this on Blu-Ray and it looks and sounds freaking fantastic.

Definitely not the original with Charlton Heston, but better in many ways. Good story line and action sequences. You'll want to pick this one up if your a planet of the apes fan.
