The only deficit I recognize is that when they remain on the ears for hours, the outer rims of the external ear become sore and even develop palpable sore bumps.

I just needed something to listen to recordings on my laptop. Nothing fancy. The sound is ok. The small ear muffs are not the most comfortable, especially for long use.
