Boyfriend bought me these for Christmas and couldn't be happier. They're great for listening to music or playing games. Microphone is okay, basically like every other headset microphone. Cord is NOT cat proof as my kitten has destroyed them.

I bought this since it's a little cheaper than middle end console headsets and this has been the best headset i've used so far!

    An okay headset

This headset is just "fine". I wouldn't call it spectacular and I wouldn't call it horrible. The sound is decent for the price, but the quality feel of the product is very cheap. As a comparison, I will say that a pair of Razer Carcharias definitely have better sound quality and a much higher quality feel to them. This would be a decent backup headset as long as you get a good price for it.

    Lightweight, light performance

I picked up this headset because I was looking for something lighter than my current set. Opening the box, my first impression was good. They looked cool and were very light weight. In use they were uncomfortable for me, as the earcups were too small and after about an hour the heat from these headphones made my ears feel like they were on fire. The sound quality of these headphones were very poor compared to any other headphone this price I have ever used. Pros: lightweight, looks, semi open back design Cons: Uncomfortable if using for an hour plus, horrible sound quality.

The sound quality is alright, though the headset I have is crackling, so I'll be taking it back and getting another brand. The headset after awhile hurts your ears and I end up having to constantly readjust it. The position of the mic is too far out so I constantly find myself brushing it on my shoulder or something else by accident. The headset is kind of quiet and it's annoying having to manually adjust the xbox settings every time.

Thank you for your honest review on our RIG 505, we will forward your feedback to our team for consideration. If you are experiencing crackling or other audio issues we recommend that you ensure your Xbox and Xbox controller's firmware are both up to date. If the issue is the same you can also try your headset on a different controller or a mobile device to determine if the issue is on your headset or the audio source. Good for phones, not so much PC

I bought the 505 about 3 days ago, so far i downloaded the software and played with them, max volume is very low, bass sounds amazing but still, doesnt matter when you cant hear anything. I've asked for help on the support website for platronics but no email so far, Mic is not working, and in the installation for the driver it said there would be a symbol where you can turn the headphones off and on. I don't really recommend this headset unless you're using it for a phone, i hope my review helped. :)

    Great bargain headset

I was looking for a basic headset for online conferencing for work. The audio and mic qualities are great for online collaborating. Listening to music, however, it does not have very good high or low range. This was to be expected for a lower-end headset. Overall, a great buy.

The Rig 505 should be a plug and play device. It would just plug into the speaker and mic port of your computers sound card. If it isn't working it may be damaged or something in the install. Try the headset with another computer if you have access to one. If the issue follows the headset, we can replace that headset.

Microphone does not work, unless I'm shouting

I bought a pair of these RIG 505's from the store. The headphones were great - lightweight, breathe well, comfortable. But the microphone did not work. I had to move the headset off of my ears and put the tip of the microphone between my lips before it would pick anything up. Otherwise, it would only pickup shouting. Maybe the noise-cancelling filters out too much noise, even speech? So I thought the microphone was defective. I returned a first headset to the store and hoped that the second headset would work. Unfortunately, the second microphone is the same! I am left thinking that this microphone is designed very poorly - or manufactured very poorly so I got two bad microphones in a row. I plan to return these and look for a different headset ... I normally do not leave reviews, but I felt the need to warn others to avoid this runaround.

Thank you for your honest review.

Usually when you experience issues with microphone volume is because your sound card's microphone volume is not high enough or you might need to apply some gain.

When this happens we recommend that your computer's microphone volume is set to 80% or higher and if its still very low, that you try applying microphone gain if available.
