Didn't get any background history on platinum before I went and got it last second at a local best buy. But after buying it and throwing it onto my 85mm (apparently the 58mm thread is a pretty common one for a good amount of my canon lenses ) I'd say it feels and looks a lot better and sturdier than the tiffen ones I typically buy (cuz they're usually cheaper). The glass looks like it is made very nicely The case may take some time to get open, but since I noticed that the case is made perfectly and very little to no dust from factory, i'd say this is a much better company to buy filters from in the future than the tiffen ones (always hella dusty, and attracts these micro particles as soon as I take them out of the case) I mainly buy UV lens to just protect my expensive camera lens glass, otherwise, i'd say invest in this rather than the tiffen lens.

This lens filter is vital for my job, as I use it in dusty and dirty environment. The primary use of this is to try to keep dirt and debris away from the lens itself, and to allow some protection in case of a minor rock or equivalent coming towards it. Filters like these has likely saved many of my lenses so far, so here is to hoping in case of something, that it will do the same.

    Affordable Protection, Good Clarity

I bought this UV filter for the factory 18-55mm STM lens on my wife's Canon EOS Rebel SL2/200D. It does not noticeably affect the clarity or color of images, but provides assuring protection and peace of mind against accidental damage. It doesn't require any adaptors; simply hand tighten it onto the filter threads in the end of the lense bezel, and you have an extra layer of security, even with the cap off. It accepts the factory cannon lense cap, so you won't even notice it's there. I am not a professional photographer, but I think these filters are a very good value. Buy one for each lense and know your investment is well protected.

A must for all lenses From experience

From experience I have found that a UV filter is a must for all lenses. It prevents scratches to the cameras lense. Often times, I get a smudge on the lense and it is must safer to clean it with a soft cloth than cleaning a camera lense without a filter. One time, before I started using filters, I cleaned my lense and there must have been something other than dust and I got a slight scratch which showed on my photos. Since then I have done always purchased and used DEDICATED UV's on all of my lenses.

This is a nicely made product. UV filters remove the UV component from sunlight. The effect is subtle at best, just looking through one you can't see any difference. It made a slight difference with film, don't know how sensitive digital cameras are to UV. However as protection for your camera's expensive lens it offers inexpensive protection! This multi coated glass filter will keep dust, dirt, and fingers off your lens. The threads inside and out are smooth as silk, other accessories such as polarizers and screw on lens hoods will go on and off with ease. Get one, it's cheap insurance against lens damage from what the world sends your way.

I bought a new canon camera with several lenses. I was worried about scratching or damaging the lenses, as I am a butterfingers! I got a couple of these filters, and they saved me from buying all new lenses. If not for the filters, they would be covered with scratches. Thank you!

A good filter to protect from sunlight damage and the lens glass itself. Does not create the glare and/or strange double reflections that some other filters caused in sunlight.

I have to say it, I have never heard of this brand before, and I was a little bit worried if I would like it. The price was ok, and packaging was really looking nice as well, so I decided to get one!? I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with this filter. Looks nice, with very nice finish of it, and doesn't look or feel cheap at all. Most importantly, I could not see that affects the picture quality at all, so I really like this filter!

I really love this filter. It’s perfect in protecting my lens… I accidentally scratched it and had to pay a lot of money to get it off the lens. This will prevent it next time!! I appreciate this lens - it’s really a game charger in photography!

Would HIGHLY recommend! When I purchased my Canon in store the rep. that was assisting us recommended to help the life span of the zoom lens that came with the body. I cannot tell you how many times I have been saved by this thing! I do portrait photography outdoors mostly with kids to adults to families. So I can be rolling around on the ground to being in the woods. I also have other detachable len's that I have purchased the filters for to protect them as well!

The Platinum™ 58mm UV Lens Filter is a great accessory to protect your camera lens. It helps reduce haze and improve contrast in your photos, especially in bright sunlight. The filter is easy to attach and remove, and it's a must-have for any photographer looking to protect their lens and improve image quality.

I have owned SLR's for over 40 years and when purchasing new lenses has always purchased a clear (UV) lens to protect the glass of the lens. Would rather spend $20-$30 to replace the filter than $150-$300 (or more) to replace the lens in the event that something scratched the lens. Have never seen where a UV filter has ever negatively impacted the image that the camera captured.

It is always a smart idea to keep a filter on your lens. I would much rather pay $25.00 for a filter than $1,000.00 for a lens replacement due to a scratch!

So glad i decided to purchase my 58mm uv lens filter. You can absolutely tell a difference between lens with and without the uv filter. Im so satisfied with this purchase im going to go back to best buy and buy one for each and every lens i own! Its a must have for your cameras lens not only for a little extra protection on the lens but for a better quality photo!

Have used these filters for other lenses I've owned over the years. They do a great job of making the photos clearer, and colors more brilliant than those taken without a filter. They also do a great job of protecting the actual camera lens from dust, dirt, moisture, and scratches. Highly recommend them!

I have one of these on each of my 4 lenses which range from 12 to 300mm and I love them. They have no negative effects on the images and I love that they protect the lens from dust, scratches and smudges. It's like having a screen protector on your phone. If it gets scratched you only need to replace the filter which is way cheaper than a lens!
