You need a new USB-C cable but you don't want to pay the outrageous Apple price. You see this cable at a much lower price and figure it's worth it and you'll save $10, maybe $20 bucks - well, it's not. I just checked my receipt and it's been less than 5 months and this cable it's already shorting out and barely working. I have to lay it a certain way and hope it works. Plus, it seems to have affected my battery's overall capacity. Bottom line: Don't let the lower price fool you. Some things are a good value, but this is not one of them. Do not buy this cable.
