Must Have For USB-C Devices to HDMI Displays

---HIGHLIGHTS--- 4K/UHD Video Transmission, Premium High Quality Build, Attractive Aluminum Finish, Limited Lifetime Warranty ---DESIGN AND USE--- This cable is designed to transmit audio and video signals from USB-C devices to displays with HDMI inputs. It will work with any USB-C device that can output video over USB-C. It is rated to carry video signals up to 4K UHD. These cables are very sturdy, and it is readily apparent that they were manufactured with quality in mind. I am expecting many many years of trouble free use. It carries a limited lifetime warranty, but considering how tough theses cables appear, I can't see them breaking under normal use. I think it would take quite a bit of abuse for them to break. The HDMI side of the cable has a wide footprint that may not fit all inputs. This is something to be aware of, but It should not be an issue except in all but the narrowest of input locations. ---BOTTOM LINE--- USB-C is transitioning into the new universal standard interface. With many compact laptops no longer having a HDMI output, this cable is a must have if you need to connect your device to an HDMI display.

Just What I Need For Presentations w/New Laptop!

Unfortunately we are in the 'in-between' time for standard ports on laptops and peripheral devices. Once again I find myself with a laptop with one type of port (USB-C) and a projector with a completely different type of port (HDMI). I went through the same thing with VGA and HDMI as well as wireless protocols back in the day. Some times it is really hard to be a road-warrior giving presentations all around the country without dragging an entire electronics store with you! Fortunately, Platinum has exactly what I need for my new laptop and one year old projector (that I begged the higher ups to get me since the other one was a back-breaker). They also had me covered with a compact USB-C power supply as well! There isn't much to say about this since it is really just a cord, but it is extremely well built and a very usable length at 8 feet. My projector is a short throw projector so I'm usually not to far from it and the screen, so 8 feet is great for my needs. The connectors are SOLID and both ends have outstanding stress relief, so I don't anticipate any wear or breakage there at all. Heck, I'll probably break first before these this thing, or at least the projector probably will! I am really impressed with the quality of the materials and build specs of the Platinum brand. For an in-house brand of Best Buy, they have put a lot of thought and engineering into making quality gear. The Platinum stuff is just as good, if not better, than a lot of first-party makers. If you are looking for a cord to connect your USB-C device with an HDMI device, you don't have to look any further than the Platinum cable. I'll be able to use this for my projector in big conference rooms or TVs in the smaller conference rooms. I'm back to being a road-warrior again!

    Capable of More Than Described!

Other reviews will give you a well-rounded explanation as to what this wire does according to its description. And yes, it works great for Chromebooks, Macbooks, etc just as described, but what I am going to review is something I hoped it would do and what it succeeded in doing. First off this cable is very well built. It is the second cable system I have from Platinum and I am not surprised at its rigid build. It’s a tough cable without being inflexible. One thing that you will notice is that it heats up on the HDMI end. Not sure why, but from other reviews, it appears to be a normal occurrence with no negative side effects. So to begin, we have a very nice vehicle that is relatively new (2015). Being built in 2015 rather than 2016, the entertainment system has an RCA (red, white and yellow cables) audio-video connection rather than an HDMI. With DVDs being a thing of the past in our house since we stream everything, my hope was that we would be able to connect an HDMI device to the system. So I purchased an RCA-to-HDMI converter which worked for our laptops. But still, I wanted to be able to use our phones which have the obvious capability of built in internet access and are much smaller and convenient than trucking around a laptop. Enter the Platinum USB C to HDMI cable…. I had doubts. It didn’t say anything in the description about cellphones being compatible. Not to mention the setup in my entertainment system was less than typical. I have a Samsung Note 9 and my wife has a Note 8. I hesitantly plugged the Note 9 in, and success!!! Everything worked perfectly. Samsung has a native application that allows for mirroring that worked flawlessly. Everything from videos on the phone to streaming media (Netflix, Hulu, Plex, etc) were perfect! This is going to be a lifesaver on road trips with the kiddos. However, when plugging the Note 8 in, a strange thing occurred. Mirroring worked perfect except for streaming from Netflix, where everything would show on the screen except the video that was playing. I assume it has something to do with DRM (Digital Rights Management). I could play video that was on the phone and from the Plex application, so that reaffirmed that DRM has something to do with it. I’m attempting to find a workaround, but we will be using the Note 9 for now. I also attempted to connect the Note 9 using this wire to an older flat screen TV with an HDMI input. If you do hook up to an older device and have an issue with the display showing, it appears that disconnecting and reconnecting fixes these issues. Not a perfect fix for the problem, but it does work. Overall, I would highly recommend this cable. We might even purchase another to keep at the house when we want to view items from our phones. Just be aware of the heat issue I mentioned at the beginning. I would keep it well ventilated just in case.

Great option to connect USB-C device(s) to screen

USB-C is like a swiss army knife – it can do many things depending on the device – charge, external display, ethernet connection, connect multi-purpose docking station, etc. As such this USB-C to HDMI connector is great especially if your device does not have a dedicated HDMI out, or you can’t (or don’t want to) use Smart View, Chromecast, etc. I highly recommend as its basically plug and play. 6 ft Cable – USB-C connection as input and HDMI connection as output. HDMI connector is a tad large so may be an issue if used in tight space, such as soundbar. I had no issue connecting to 2 different TV’s. I used it with the following devices connecting to 4K TV; Google Slate tablet (2019) – default duplicated screen but not at 4K resolution. I am not that familiar with Chrome OS, yet, so may be able to tweak resolution and extend screen rather than duplicate. Dell Inspiron 2in1 model 7386 (2018) – default was duplicate screen with 3840 x 2160 resolution. Going into Windows 10 screen settings you can easily change resolution, extend or use as only screen. No issues with sound. Samsung S8 SM-950U phone. When initially connected you have option to use Samsung DeX (which creates kind of a desktop of your phone apps with your phone screen becoming just a mouse to move around the desktop) or mirror (which as it indicates just duplicates what is on your phone to the screen). I could not get any sound using Samsung DeX and didn’t really care for it but might be good for presentations. Mirroring worked fine. In neither case could I determine resolution or how to change it, which I attribute to operator error. Samsung Notebook Pro 9 (2017) – default was duplicate screen with 3840 x 2160 resolution. Going into Windows 10 screen settings you can easily change resolution, extend or use as only screen. No issue with sound. I also connected the above to a 1080P TV and everything worked same as with 4K except it automatically changed resolution to match receiving device. Probably more each devices software than the HDMI cable, but wanted to pass on info. Lifetime limited warranty. I have no negatives really except the HDMI connector seemed to get pretty hot. A little concerned if that is normal and what affect, if any, it could have on it long term or the device it is connected to?

USB-C is a very versitile port. Every newer laptop comes with at least one of these ports. Many machines (like the Apple Mac Book Air) have only USB-C ports. This cable allows a single connection from your laptop or cell phone to an HDMI monitor or television. If you’re on the go, it’s a must-have to avoid fumbling with adapters. It provides a reliable connection with no troubleshooting required, unlike some of the cheap Amazon connectors. The cable itself is 6 feet which should work fine for most office and presentation situations. I connected my laptop to my desktop monitor and it performed flawlessly. I also connected it to my 4K television. The image was huge, but also very very sharp. The cable had no issues providing full bandwidth for the laptop to use in connecting to the TV. From a build quality perspective, I’d have no reservations throwing it in my laptop bag to keep around. It’s a little stiff, but also larger than most other HDMI cables I’ve seen. The connectors are solidly connected to the cable in a way that makes clear they won’t break. I have every confidence that this cable will last for a very long time!

I have a Dell - XPS 2-in-1 13.3" Touch-Screen Laptop and unfortunately it does not have HDMI input. I purchased an accessory from Amazon, but I always seem to leave at home when I needed it the most. The platinum change all that and made it really easy to use. The quality is feel good unlike those thin cables that feel like they are going to break off, the cable is very well built. I cannot comment on its capabilities with Ipads since I don't own one, but the product states it works with new Ipad pro models. The cable is 6 foot long so its very useful when using my laptop with my project since the projector fan gets pretty hot, its a perfect distance. The resolution is great!, 4K resolution and audio work perfectly with my 4K Sony 55'. Overall I really enjoy it, its pretty simple to use and it feels and looks like it will last me a long time just wished it came with a carrying bag just my opinion. I am very happy with the product!!

The Cable Is Perfect... If You Have the Right USBC

Out of the box, this cable provides HDMI for compatible devices. The trick is whether or not your USB-C device supports hdmi out. My Samsung Tablet worked great. My LG-Gram Windows 10 laptop worked great. My Acer Nitro 5 Windows 10 laptop, did not. Found out that the USB-C connector on that laptop is Gen 1, does not have a PCI-E connection to the main board, and therefore does not support video out over USB-C. Turns out USB-C isn't as universal of a standard as we hoped it would be. If you're curious if this device will work for you, you may have to do some research. It worked on 2/3 of my devices and the build feels sturdy. I wish it was a bit longer, but as is, it's a perfect travel companion for my tablet.

If your in need of a USB-C to HDMI cable you can't go wrong here. Works great using it with my Macbook hooked up to my projector. Supports 4K and carries audio signal if your monitor has speakers. The cable it self is high quality. It just feels like a better cable than most others I have. It's 6 foot long and just works. Two things to note. 1- It is a directional cable. It has a source end(USB-C) for your laptop, Ipad, Macbook and a display end (HDMI) for your TV, projector, or monitor. 2- The HDMI end is a little on the bulky side. But this dose give you a very solid place to grab when unplugging.

I'm using the Platinum USB-C to HDMI cable to connect an extra display to my Windows laptop. Specifications note that it can also be used with a Macbook or Chromebook. It's a very nice, well built cable. The 6' cable length will come in handy for connecting to other devices such as televisions or projectors. This cable will support resolution quality up to 4K. it is true that the HDMI cable end is a tad bulky, but I had no issues plugging it into my computer monitor. I don't foresee this as being an issue. I'd highly recommend this cable for the performance, build quality and Lifetime limited warranty. As an owner of Platinum's USB-C wall charger I can say I'm impressed with their products.

The Platinum 6' USB-C-to-HDMI cable looks beautiful and feels like a well-made, sturdy cable. Interestingly, the USB-C end has a tag to label it as the source end and the HDMI end has a tag telling you to connect it to the TV/Projector. This is a DIRECTIONAL cable. Ok - got it. I used this to connect my Dell laptop/tablet to my TV. No need to have something to CAST to the TV with this cable. I do find that the 6' length is very limiting though. The TV is high the laptop is not and 6' is just barely long enough to place the laptop directly under the TV. That aside, the quality was outstanding, I do not have a projector, but I would think this cable would produce excellent results.

I have my MacBook hooked up to a USB-C monitor but since you cannot daisy chain MacBooks with displayport cables, I need to run a USB-C to HDMI cable to my second monitor. I needed the cable to be long so I can hide it easily and also needed 4k. This cable fits the bill. The MacBook picture looks great. I also hooked up my LG Gram laptop to an LG 4k monitor with this cable and the resolution was at 4k and the picture was stunning. Loving this cable and appreciate it when things work as advertised.

In the box is a 6 foot USB-C to HDMI cord. Pros This cable is easy to use; it's a plug and play no software necessary. It has the right length that makes it more useful in every situation, home, office and on the go. It also has the build quality that is amazing with a very sturdy thick cord. The anodized aluminum housing on all connection heads is also a huge plus because it looks and feels sturdy. Cons The only negative that I could find is not having the connection head covers. It would be a great addition for when the cables being stored to keep debris out. I would recommend to friends and family.

This platinum cable worked well enough for my needs. I got it to hookup my USB-C enabled Chromebook to my TV. It should be noted that it didn't work at first, and I had to unplug the cable from my Chromebook and then plug it back in for it to recognize it. The cable seems sturdy, and I don't anticipate it breaking any time soon. The length is adequate, but I wish it was maybe two feet longer for my particular needs. All in all, I'm satisfied with this cable.

This cable is really nicely built. Nice thickness and made with aluminum. I'm using this with my MacBook Pro and a monitor at 1440p and 144Hz and the picture quality is great. USB-C is so nice to have because you don't need an external hub. If you're in the market for a display cable that works perfectly with Mac, then this Platinum cable is it.

This is a good quality cable sheathed in a heavy vinyl coating. The connectors have an additional wrap so this will last. The connectors are aluminum coated. I do prefer cables that have a polyester woven sheathing for flexibility but this cable is a good substitute. I connected my laptop to my 4K TV and it has no problem transmitting a good signal. I would recommend this cable.

This cable has worked great for connecting my laptop to a projector for watching Netflix in 4K. Nice cable that feels like it is high quality. I have used it to connect both my gaming laptop (Dell) and my tablet (Samsung) to my 4K monitor. Both were auto detected and work great with the monitor. With everything rather rapidly moving towards USB-C, this is a must have. No complaints at all.
