    Trades color for clarity

Purchased this along side my 6Dmk2 with the intent of cutting down glare on water and reflective surfaces. I've tested this with both the Canon 24-105 f/4L IS II USM, and the Tamron SP 70-200 f/2.8 Di VC USD G2. In both instances, the filter was able to color correct the sky and produce a more vivid blue, but traded it for a steep drop in sharpness. When using the filter, less than 10% of the images shot were clear enough for use of any kind. I couldn't say whether it's autofocus or something else being thrown off, but every image appears as if it's both out of focus, and/or shot at low shutter speed, despite being shot at up to 1/1250. Will continue to test for a day or two, but this may ultimately go back as a return.

I bought this to put on my 70-200 f/2.8, I initially thought that maybe with it being somewhat decently reviewed on here, that it'd be nice, but man, I was wrong. This filter is your average, run of the mill cheap CPL. Best Buy did a good job at packaging, very minimal, all black, and platinum foil box, but it just throws sharpness WAY off, and I'm not talking "barely," or "a little fuzzy," I'm talking about focus goes out of the bag if you're shooting something specific. I returned this product to the store, and decided to go with an actual Nikon CPL.

Don't waste your money. It does a poor job eliminating glare. It hardly darkens blue skies. I have better results with post photo editing. Save your money.
