Simple solution for using legacy USB A devices
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With more and more devices moving to USB C and thunderbolt multi-function ports I’m finding a need for a USB A female to USB C male adapter to be able to use my USB A type devices. Whether it be a flash drive, external hard drive, mouse, keyboard, cameras, phones, etc I always have a need to connect some sort of device to my laptop, tablet or phone. The Platinum adapter is very compact in comparison to most of the dongle cables provided (if you are even that lucky). I used the adapter to connect a mouse, a flash drive and external USB hard drive to my Chromebook and all worked flawlessly. Devices were identified quickly and ready for use within seconds. I haven’t had the chance to verify transfer speeds with my external hard drive due to limitations USB 2.0 interface of the drive itself. It’s a very useful device to bridge the gap while industry catches up and USB C devices become more available. There are many OTG (on-the-go) flash drives available but on the occasion you need a mouse or keyboard or even one of those external hard drives I’m adding this to my must carry accessory list. The only thing I would love to see is a 90° horizontal (or swivel) variant so I don’t have connections sticking way out and subject to breakage. My biggest fear having a flash drive sticking so far out is banging it and breaking the connector on the board.

Great portability, great performace.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a beautiful USB-A to USB-C adapter. It is rather slick and feels well-constructed. It is extremely easy to use; simply plug it and use it. There are no drivers to install. I used it to charge and use my USB headphones through my laptop’s USB-C port. No problem there at all. The sound and voice quality was not affected. I also used it to connect my Android phone, which has a USB-C port only, to connect it to my desktop and move data back and forth. The speed depends on the device and not the adapter of course, however, it was more than acceptable. To test the speed, I used a portable SSD rated at 1050MB/s to transfer big video files and that worked wonderfully. The last test was installing and playing triple-A games directly from the SSD. I am happy to report that there were no extra loading times or hiccups. If there was anything to criticize, it would be its biggest strength: the adapter is so small that it must be kept in a secure case or place or risk losing it. I almost forgot that I left in my pants’ pockets until I needed it. I would not leave it in the laptop’s port as it protrudes a bit too much and that could damage the port and/or adapter. I wish it would have come with a case with a chain, but that would also affect its price point and portability. This is definitely not a deal-breaker; it is just something to consider. In the end, I would still recommend the Platinum USB-C to USB-A adapter, especially if you have a laptop that only has a USB-C input/output or have a fast portable SSD that could benefit from the adapter’s 5 Gbps speed. It is cool-looking, easy to use, and at this price, an almost no-brainer.

Great adapter for everyday use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nowadays with many electronic products having USB-C, having one of these around the home is a good idea. Particularly with this product, it is pretty straightforward. However, compared to other USB-A to USB-C adapters that I have previously used, this one is definitely of higher quality and has worked with everything I have used it for.connecting devices to my desktop computer and laptop. It also seems like it doesn't take a lot of space, which is great because I have other ports nearby that I can also utilize. What is also great about this is that there is no additional software or drivers needed - Just "plug and play." If you're looking for an adapter to just have around, I'd definitely recommend this one!

Small, fast, exactly what I needed!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This platinum USB-A to USB-C adapter is a fast, compact and lightweight. It’s a fully plug and play adapter that works well for a wide range of devices and tasks. The adapter works fast when transferring files from my mobile device and tablet onto an external storage device or my laptop. I like to edit a lot of my videos on my laptop and sometimes transferring/downloading through the cloud isn't always the fastest route. Having this adapter allows me to transfer the files quickly. It’s a great adapter to use for charging any USB-C device when a USB-C charging cable isn’t available. It’s also great to have around if a friend needs to use your USB-C charger but doesn’t have an adapter of their own. I love the compact design, it’s very small but feels sturdy and well built. The silver color and smooth paint look and feel great. Overall this is a must have for any USB-C device user, even if you only need it a few times, you’ll be happy when you have it. It’s very well designed, lets you transfer files at 5 Gbps and is very affordable. I highly recommend this adapter.

Works, but I have concerns about durability
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a small USB-A to USB-C adaptor, this thing definitely works. From a functionality standpoint, it works great. The texture of the device did make it a bit hard to pull out of my MacBook Air USB-C port - it was difficult to get a good grip on this unit. Also - my larger concern is that I'm afraid when using this type of adaptor it is going to put a lot of stress on the USB-C port and I'm going to end up breaking the adaptor off flush with the computer. I thought I'd like this design, but it seems that with the USB-A port directly attached to the USB-C port, it makes for a somewhat fragile design. I will be sticking with USB-A to USB-C adaptors that have a short pigtail that allows for a bit more flexibility of the larger USB-A connector to move a bit without putting all the stress on the tiny USB-C connector.

Nice USB A to USB C adapter
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty simple device of course, but it does it's job well. I use it mainly to power various USB devices scatter about my desk at work. By connecting this adapter to the USB A end of my older power cables, I can use the native USB C ports on my Surface Book Keyboard, Macbook and Thunderbolt docking station to power/charge older devices. It also works well if you want to charge a newer USB C device off of your laptop rather than using a power brick attached to the wall. The connection seems firm and secure on both end. It is small enough that it does not interfere with the native power supply connection of my Surfacebook. It has basically the same footprint that you would expect from a normal USB A connection. Maybe slightly larger, but not enough to create clearance issues on my devices. If you are looking for a simple sleek device that will allow you to connect your USB A cords to a newer USB C device, this should do the trick.

Tiny Adapter. Big Convenience.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There’s not much to be said about this tiny, convenient adapter. For those of us with laptops that only have USB-C ports, this adapter is super important. While I hardly plug anything into my Dell XPS 13 these days, when I need to, it’s typically a USB thumb drive. Since my 2019 XPS 13 doesn’t have any USB-A ports, an adapter is necessary. Many adapters out there have a small cable connecting the USB-A and USB-C ends, which is fine but adds more bulk to your bag. That’s what makes the Platinum USB-A to -C Adapter awesome… Taking up very little space, both in your bag and on the actual laptop, it gets the job done. Plus, the metal housing makes this feel very sturdy. I imagine it looks amazing on a MacBook (similar in finish), but it works fine with my Windows laptop while still looking attractive. Bottom line: If you need an A to C adapter, I highly suggest this device.

Access damaged screen android phone with USB Mouse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted to add a review since I used this for something different than most it seems. My Android phone has a damaged screen, it is working fine but I cannot unlock or do anything. I bought this device and plugged in a mouse, not even a wireless mouse, just a USB mouse and a small arrow appeared on the screen, just like on a computer. Used the mouse to unlock the phone and access everything, which allowed me to enable the Smart Connect data transfer to my new replacement phone (had to do wireless transfer on wifi, slower but better than nothing). This little device is awesome, worked perfectly!
