Maybe the PNY - Compact 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive is too small to do what I need it to do: serve as a startup drive for my 2014 iMac running OS X 10.9.5. It takes forever to load files and sometimes it fails and I have to start over.

At the sale price, this is very competitively priced. Performance as good or better than others in the same price range. Physical design is compact and clever. With reasonable care, the plastic case should last a lifetime,but if treated roughly will probably break quickly. big files: (avg 20MB or larger) r: 27MB/s w: 6MB/sec small files: (avg 6k) r: 15MB/s w: 0.5MB/sec I bought these for inexpensive storage of backups that won't see much I/O, like an OS image. For frequent I/O of many files, I recommend a FAST USB 3.0 flash drive. This is definitely NOT that.

There are so many other options but this is too small and would easily be lost in a purse or backpack.

It works, but it's a plastic plug in rather than metal and seems it would break easily if you plug it in/unplug it often. Also takes longer for upload than others I've had. Stick to sandisk.

Transferred files over to drive, one day they were there and the next it was all gone. Not sure what happened or how that even is possible

A waste of money - impossible to separate the cap from the drive unit. I threw it in the garbage.

I love product! Especially this one because the download is easy also comes preloaded with other features and easy to keep mobile for all your tech needs and has cool colors

Was disappointed I was unable to use this USB flash drive on my WD Live media player :(

I got 2 of these, 1 for data transfering on my PC, 1 for my Xbox for game saves and dlc back up. I have had them a month and had no problems with them whatsoever. Compared to some sandisk 2 gigs I got 2 years back they are much better, because when I formatted the sandisks for my Xbox my Xbox said they dd not meet the requirements for playing and saving games from them. The PNY one did meet requirements and it fits everything that I can keep on it for backup for the time being. Good thing I did that too because my COD3 profile for online and the one for Spec Ops was reset somehow after one of the game updates. I took my backup saves and replaced the saves on my Xbox and I got everything back. So I am quite sastisfied with these memery sticks. I got them on sale for about 70% off, so now I wish I whouldda got more.

It came in handy to retrieve info from my new Mac before I chopped it to pieces.

Love this usb drive, nice size, what you expect for a usb drive. Only 2 problems about it, first it has a lanyard hole but doesn't even come with a mini one. And second it looks like it is made from cheap plastic but not like plastic thats going to break but these two things aren't a big deal so I give it a 5 out of 5 for what I payed.

I have several of these style PNY flash drives, with the sliding collar, and they are all still working great and the collar is tight still. I like not having a cap laying around to get lost or have to keep up with. The drive has never lost data and has proven reliable.

Good read/write times and good capacity. Got it on sale for a great price for a 16gb drive. Works well so far. I like the sliding cover and it is easy to open/close. Good for transferring small-medium files. Haven't tried large files yet.

Excellent product with good capacity. Portable and easy to carry. Good quality and works good. Very beautiful design.
