I bought PNY Elite SSD external drive for $25 on a daily deal sale. Reviews online are really good, even on bestbuy. After I received it I tested this external SSD drive for speed test. I tried to transfer 205GB call of duty save on to it to see what's the maximum write speed I will notice. First 10 seconds I was really blown away, I was seeing advertised 400mb/s, but after 10 seconds it slowed down to 65mb/s. Which is 50% slower then my spinning WD HDD. After doing some research I found out that PNY makes them cheaply, cache memory and over heating slows the speed significantly. If you transfer anything under 1GB, this is perfect, but over 1GB, it's slower then lot of USB Flash drives. Heat is another significant issue. After testing transfer rates for 20 minutes, drive got very hot where it you can't hold it in hand. Also, they need to put USB C, cable that it comes with is very weird and takes long time to fit in the drive. Avoid this drive at all cost. It's cheap for a reason. I will return this and look at getting Samsung SSD.

I got a good deal on the ssd usb drive. I haven’t actually used it yet, but I’m sure it is worth what I payed for it. About $35 with tax.

I had a hard time transferring all of my pics from my pc to this device. It transferred only half.

Had to immediately return the item. USB connector was loose and connection would get lost as soon as the SSD moved a tiny bit.

I received a defective unit. Didn't work out of box! Returned!

For someone who travels with a PC tablet or laptop who is concerned with keeping the size of the system they carry within limits this is an option to consider. This drive is based on an SSD drive like the system drive in many small footprint laptops or a Surface Pro tablet. The PNY is about 1/8th the size of the conventional USB portable hard drive. The storage per dollar for the PNY SSD is several times more then an USB hard drive about the same as USB Flash drives. But the PNY SSD drive has much higher read/write rates then a Flash drive and many USB portable hard drives. If you don't need Terabyte external storage then the PNY SSD drives deserve a serious look. The PNY I bought slips into a pocket of the case that I carry my 11.6 inch Laptop in and increases the mass storage of the 128GB SSD system drive by 220 GB at the cost of a similar capacity Flash drive.

Doesn't work with my Mac, had to return it for a refund..

I have been searching online for something I could use for Windows To Go. And this device works. The windows to go setup detects this device and it is compatible. I have booted up windows on this device and do not see any lag or slow performance. Task Manager shows below 14% performance usage for the drive. For anyone looking for a device to use for Windows To Go. I would recommend this device.

This SSD works great - when I bias the cable connector a certain way, and don't move. If I just plug the cable into it, the LED doesn't come on, and the computer never sees it. I was able to retrieve my data from it before it complete died - but some have not been so fortunate. Check out the reviews at Axxxxn. Spend a few more $ and get a better one. Steer clear of this one.
