I purchased thinking it was going to be faster than the 2.0 version, but in fact it's very slow to download.

Great, but minor note for Mac users!

I quit! As a full-time photographer, I need my images backed up, using more than one method. For years I've backed up my images on an external drive, and DVD's. As file sizes have gotten larger, and since I shoot in RAW and not JPEG, it isn't unusual to have one wedding exceed 30 GB. Now, think of the time involved in burning 7 to 10 DVD's of each wedding that I photograph. Of course, the external drives are not solid state, so are susceptible to lost data. Effective today, I quit DVD backups.
Now that thumb drives have gotten much larger, and much cheaper, I've switched to backing images onto these large thumb drives. Speed to back up my files is so much quicker. USB 3 is a great asset as well. Who knows how much longer we'll be able to read DVD's (remember Floppy disks, Zip disks, Syquest?) Having a handful of these will cover a year of photos and video.
The one caveat for Mac users is, you will need to erase and reformat this thumb drive before using it on your Mac. No biggie, just go to your disk utilities and erase the drive.
I can't tell you how excited I am to reduce the time I spend burning endless DVD's! One week could be an event and a wedding, and involve 8 hours of DVD burning, a little bit at a time.
By the way, I encourage you all that if you shop at Best Buy, that you purchase there as well. Don't use some on-line store that doesn't offer face to face shopping, and a staff that is able and willing to answer your questions.

Transfers data super fast

I bought this for work just so it would be easier for me to transfer large chunks of data between 2 computers and this worked perfectly. I recommend buying it when it's on sale if you want to save a few bucks.

Great value for its large storage capacity. I really like that it slides in and out of its case, no more caps to try to keep up with.

Utter garbage

128 GB flash drive for less than $50? You get what you pay for. Since day one, this device has been flaky. It intermittently disappears from Windows Explorer while plugged in, and file transfers take ages. Today, after a few weeks of use, it just died on me. Disk management on multiple machines recognizes that a removable storage device has been attached, but they claim the device has no media. It's the equivalent of plugging in a USB card reader without having a card installed. I'll be contacting Best Buy and my credit card company to see if I can get a refund for this utter piece of garbage.

Worked for a while

I purchased this item a few months ago. At first it worked great. But now the write capability has severely degraded. When copying a group of files (all of similar size) to the drive, it will copy the first 4 or 5 very rapidly but then slows to a crawl. Sometimes it won't even finish at all. The copy action just times out after a couple of minutes working on the same file. I have tried erasing all files and starting with a clean drive and also reformatting, all with no success. The drive is now useless.

Writes block often and it takes forever to backup anything using this. I am using a 3.0 port.
