a nostalgia trip (with quality to match)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Specs are mentioned in other reviews at great length and on the spec tab of the product itself, so I'm going to avoid repeating all that stuff. I am, however, going to jump immediately into my only grip with the Polaroid Now+...consistent quality. One photo to the next you are going to achieve very different results even though no variables seem to change. You can adjust nothing on the camera while also not allowing much time in your environment to go by which would account for lighting or subject alterations, yet you will have one photo turn out amazing and the next 3 or 4 not turn out at all. As in, they might be blurry, poor lighting, or simply BLACK. But, I'm pretty sure that's how polaroid's worked back in the day when they were all the rage, so maybe it's a pro...depends on how you look at it. Do you want an authentic nostalgia trip? Or merely the appearance of one with all the perks of modern technology? Possibly with some more time messing with the settings (and throwing more money at film to test said settings) you can really nail down what needs to be done and when, but you are certainly going to burn through some film, which is not cheap. Aside from that, it is a great little device when it does work. Our daughter loves not just the look of it, but the analog process of it all as she has commented numerous times about how refreshing it is to not just have a photo of her friends, but to actually HAVE a photo (right then and there) of her and her friends to put on the wall or hand to someone. That right there is what this is really all about, so if you can tolerate the cost of film and the trial/error of getting a "good" photo I think you will really enjoy/appreciate the Polaroid Now+. Just don't expect stellar results each and every time you snap a shot. I'm still giving it the recommendation because it is a fun device and a great bit of quality for what it is, it doesn't feel cheap or look bad at all. You can leave it out as a bookend or conversation piece when not being used, it doesn't have to go into hiding and get forgotten about. I realize that is a very superficial use, but it is definitely something Polaroid took into consideration when designing it, so why not lean into that a little bit?

A Fun retro camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If your camera game isn’t strong you may not enjoy this camera to its fullest extent. For the camera itself, I love the retro look, it is a statement piece in and of itself. It’s not the camera you are going to have on you all the time, it’s the camera that you are going to take capture certain fun pictures that you can throw on the Christmas tree or hang around the camper to have that homey feeling as the picture definitely have that retro look to them (a little darker and not sharp defined lines). It comes with a pack of actual physical filters including just a cover to protect it while you’re not using it. The filters are fun, I will say I used most of my first package of film just re-learning how to use a non-digital camera to really get familiar with the filters. The Bluetooth functionality is an added benefit as you can set a timer or just take the picture with your phone if you are trying to get a family portrait. It even has a self-portrait mode that will direct you to be a certain distance from the camera. It doesn’t provide an actual picture of what you are seeing. There also the ability to mess with the aperture from f11-f64, which may be helpful for those with really strong camera game. It charges via micro USB which is a tad annoying but survivable, the battery lasts for quite a while though (I haven’t had to recharge it). Overall, the quality of the pictures are lacking, it may have something to do with the user but overall the lines won’t be as sharp, the low light ability just isn’t great, and the overall quality of the pictures aren’t amazing. However, they do have that cool old school look to them. I love the camera but it won’t be my go to just take pictures… It will be the one that I grab for that special picture that I want to hang up immediately.

Posted .Hi Benb, Thanks for your review! It's true that the analog photos won't look quite the same as digital images but your overall results should be great! When shooting in low light, we always recommend using flash, and for best results, make sure your subject is about 3-4 feet from the camera and has a backdrop or wall behind them to bounce the flash back to camera, making brighter photos. If there is a big empty room behind them, for instance, the background will be very dark because the flash can only reach about 5-6 feet maximum.

WOW-Great Technology!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was the owner of the original polaroid back in the 1970's and let me tell you, this Polaroid Now+ is nothing like the old one .... thank goodness! The new technology is this camera is incredible. Using the free mobile app you are able to access so many cool features! The self timer is always fun to use when taking a group photo. It still has the unique feature of printing your photo out immediately which is the best! The autofocus features does great with making the quality of the photo sharp. The look of the camera is sleek and even holds some of the characteristics from the vintage Polaroid. My grand kids love getting to see the photo ejected from the camera of themselves & actually so do most adults! I'm very happy with this product!

Nostalgia with a boost in tech and cost.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a perfect gift for someone with an artistic itch and wants to get the Polaroid experience of taking and printing photos. Although the process isn’t identical, it’s very close and this unit is packed with more features than any model from the old days had. The first feature that sticks out is this lens! It’s huge compared to the original cameras this is based on. The flash on this is large as well but unfortunately taking photos with this will require a lot of light. More than what this provides normally. It works so much better in a lot of sunlight or plenty of indoor lighting. As with any new camera, or printer for that matter, it takes several photos to be able to dial it in and get a feel for it. So, if you are committed or getting this as a gift, I would definitely recommend getting extra film for it. Additional features available through the app are also something you certainly won’t find on the models of yesteryear. Which makes this as fun to use for 90’s kids as it is for today’s kids who are itching for immediate and tangible media in the moment. And the construction definitely gives you some confidence in its structural integrity when being handed around in the presence of children who might be less careful with it.

Polaroid Now+ New Look with a lot of improvements
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have already been a fan of instant cameras for a few years and I even bought the polaroid original onestep+ analog instant film camera but after seeing the new eye catching polaroids (white color was irresistible) I decided it was time for an upgrade. The new Polaroid Now+ i-type instant camera offers much more than the regular polaroids. The first feature that drew my attention was that it includes a lens filter kit. There are 5 lenses total with the colors starburst, red vignette, orange, yellow, and blue. They easily snap on to the camera lens and give my polaroids a new whole new look! The new and improved features of this camera include autofocus, accurate flash, tripod mount, 15-pack battery life, and the camera is adaptable enough that it works with both i-type film and 600 film. The most popular feature of this polaroid is that it's made to work with the polaroid app. The app changes the way polaroids are taken which complement the lens kit. The app is not needed to take and pictures, but I highly encourage it. The way the app is set up is very simple. It has different settings like manual mode, double exposure, light painting, and self-timer. A cool feature that the app provides is that you can change the setting of the flash for a better picture! If it's darker environment I can just make the flash setting higher or I can easily make it lower or turn it off in a bright setting. People who are more familiar with camera settings or work with cameras professionally will love manual mode. Manual mode allows you to change the aperture and shutter settings for a more captivating photo! Overall, this camera is great for anyone wanting a "point and shot" right out if the box, with good quality picture and willing to have great polaroid collection or at least physical pictures, which is something missing nowadays, so this camera is definitely worth the investment.

Good Old Days...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera packs nostalgic excitement of yesteryear. Design and styling is very retro. It's a fun to have and use for quick pictures. Picture quality wise, there's not a major improvement over the vintage Polaroids. The app is were the improvement in picture quality lies. The five lens filters provide some quick customization to your photos. The good is the design and vintage feel and look. the bad is the price of the film, at around $2 a picture, mistakes and learning curve add up real fast. It's a great looking design and could be put on display and used on social occasions as a conversation piece. BUT definitely too expensive "for me" to use on the daily. If film were cheaper, I would definitely recommend, alas, that's not the case.

It's a refreshed Polaroid with phone connectivity
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's just an upgraded Polaroid of the old Now. It can use an i-Type film so you can use that with the Polaroid Lab as well. It's nice to use and the included lens filters are a welcome creative addition. The fact that it's connected via phone so you can get your photos to your phone is also very nice. The photo quality is also really nice and the app companion gives a bit more features to the camera.

Nostalgic fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really excited to try this Polaroid Now+ camera because I thought Polaroid cameras were just the coolest thing back in the 90's. I must say after my initial use, I am a bit disappointed. The camera has a similar feel to what they were like in the 90's but a bit more compressed in size, with a more modern body. I thought the lens filter kit was a cool add-on feature, but after trying each of them out, I would not recommend using them. The camera itself still takes the same quality level of photos as it did in the 90's --thus no filter needed for a vintage effect. Also, most of the lenses made the photos too discolored to make out the image very well. (I tried them in both indoor and outdoor lighting.) The camera only holds 8 photos at a time, which means if you plan on taking a bunch of photos, you will need to carry around numerous film packs. The empty canister is still a bit of a wasteful item too - not recyclable. Using the camera in a very selective manner is best, as it was back in the day as well. The app is a nice modern add-on feature, especially if using it to remotely take photos. I had a bit of trouble getting the camera to connect initially, but after a few tries it did and then it worked without any problems. My main annoyance with the app is that it can sense whether you have good lighting for a photo, but it doesn't show you the active image on the app. This would help tremendously with testing the app features and figuring out how the lenses look for photos without wasting film, and seems like something that could have been easily included but wasn't. Overall, I did have fun testing out this camera and it did bring back some fun childhood memories. Yet, with the cost of film packs still being pricey, it's hard to justify using this camera on a frequent basis. Definitely a fun gift or purchase for a camera enthusiast or amateur photographer / artist.

Best Upgrade Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i have a old school polaroid and the film was always getting stuck but ive already been through 80+ film and fell in love with the first click, in my eyes i consider it an investment for every photo and mamory that gets saved. And allowing it to pair with the phones gives you a better chance at not messing up the photo with aperature settings

Fun novelty, but expensive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to try out a new generation of Polaroid cameras after growing up with one and loving it as a child. Sadly, I am disappointed considering the price of the camera and the film. It seems like they could do better on either the technology or the price. The camera definitely has some fun and impressive new features for the 21st Century. I can use my phone to control the shutter activation and speed, and add in special effects like writing with light, catching motion in the dark, or doing a double exposure where two images are superimposed on one another. As someone who has embraced digital photography, it is intimidating to have to be extremely conservative with the number of images I take, then I have to wait 15 minutes to see if I even got the shot. Sadly, none of my shots so far have turned out great. I have tried multiple lighting environments and they either come out too dark or too light. One image didn't come out at all. I do not know if the film was bad, or my living room lights were not enough, even though the camera's automatic light sensor did not feel that it was necessary to fire the flash. I at least like the app's ability to scan in the pictures. It does a great job of scanning the exposed film, while avoiding any glares, to show a great representation of the original image. I also like that the camera can be mounted on a tripod. This allows for some great low-light capabilities and group shots when the photographer wants to be in the picture. I can either set a timer through the app, or I can remotely activate the shutter with the simple push of a button in the app. Both are extremely easy to do. Speaking of which, the app effortlessly connects to the camera. Simply open the app and turn on the camera - that was it. I did not even have to pair the camera to the phone. They just knew they were meant for each other. I am really mixed on whether I would recommend this to a friend. If they want the nostalgia of Polaroid, go for it. But, if they want the ability to instantly print good pictures, it's cheaper to buy a photo printer. Maybe my expectations were too high. I am disappointed, and I would not consider this a toy considering the price of the camera and the film.

Expecting this to be easier to use...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I was a teenager, my dad’s Polaroid instant camera was one of my favorite photography toys. I loved the softly muted prints and the little edge to make a note of the date and people in the picture. Because the price per picture was steep, it was a special photo that was taken with the Polaroid. I had the same feelings of nostalgia when I first got this new Polaroid camera, but I have been disappointed with the picture quality and film expense so far. I thought that I would like using the app to be able to have more control over the picture quality, but the app is a bit difficult to learn and not intuitive to maneuver. And while there is a timer, you can’t see and set your picture inside the app so when you set your camera down (or put it on a tripod) you then have to hope you are in the right position when the timer clicks the picture. The lenses are fun to play with, but don’t really do much besides tint the picture. The time it takes for the picture to “develop” is quite long at around 10 minutes. (So much for the instant gratification of watching your film develop in front of your eyes with the vintage Polaroid camera!) The flash must be really weak because if you are more than 2 feet away from your subject (so RIGHT in their face), your picture will be dark and forget about using it indoors. I wasted the entire first pack of film just trying to get the lighting to look normal. So in summary, if you think this will bring back any joy you had with the vintage Polaroid camera, think again. I don’t recommend this if you want an easy, nostalgic Polaroid camera.

Not a fan
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let’s just say I grew up with Polaroid and I’m quite the techy person and the App was annoying. Just trying to learn the App caused the camera to take pictures when I least expected, causing waste of film. Tried some of the filters and it just didn’t come out as expected. Poor quality hues. The picture quality is poor. I couldn’t get the double exposure to function, and it became more and more frustrating to use. Sometimes it’s best to bring back the old and leave the technology out of it. No need to reinvent the wheel. There’s just too much to remember to just try to take different kinds of pictures. Push x button twice for it to do this or that, when the color indicator is x, y, or z, Do this or that….. i don’t think taking a pic with a Polaroid needs to be this complex.

Very dissapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My new polaroid now+ camera doesn't work properly. It doesn't switch on from time to time, it doesn't accept polaroid i-type films - which means it doesn't work with them at all, and it doesn't connect to iPhone app at all(i tried 3 different iPhones to make it work). I wrote to polaroid support and service teams - they responded only once with copied instructions on how to reset it, which I made before more than 5 times. I sent them a bunch of videos, but they do not respond anymore. They didn't return the money, they didn't try to fix it or help somehow.
