Great Sound for Small-Medium Sized Space

I'll net it out before I get into the long-winded details: - If you're looking to fill big space with big sound, go with the Magnifi Max. Not that the Mini is bad, it's just not as great - Get the SR2 surround speakers for the rear Okay now the details: The Magnifi Mini AX sounds great, don't get me wrong. It will definitely fill a smaller room with great sound. But, there's only so much you can expect from a 14.5" wide bar. The sound is very much concentrated where the bar is versus being more dispersed for a "surround sound" experience. The sound settings do compensate a bit, with the 3D being the most immersive in my opinion. The reason for my Mini AX purchase as a change in TV configuration. I previously had the Magnifi Max SR (now discontinued) but could no longer have the 43" wide bar sitting atop my hutch. Instead, I needed the smaller Mini bar to tuck into a shelf underneath. So, I'm able to compare both systems. There's no way to expect the Mini to sound as good as the Max. The Max SR has 7 drivers and is 43" wide which provides a true surround experience even without the rear speakers (which did come with the Max SR but not the Mini AX). The Max's midrange and highs are warmer as well. My viewing room is 16 deep and 26 feet wide (open concept floor plan). The Mini just can't fill that kind of space where the Max did a pretty good job. Because I ordered the SR2 rear speakers separately from the Mini AX system, the SR2 speakers arrived a day later. This gave me an opportunity to listen to the Mini AX without the rears, which was a little disappointing. To be fair, I'm used to the Max SR WITH the rear speakers. When I paired up the SR2 speakers, the Mini AX really came to life. The sound quality is still great, just not as great as the Max (which is understandable given the size and price differences). One of the biggest complaints with the Max SR was lag and loss of connection. The Mini is 1000 times better as it relates to the lag. I'm not going to say there is no lag, but it's a second or two from when the source is turned on until you hear sound versus 5-10 with the Max SR. The lag is the same whether I'm using the Optical input or the ARC input. The Max SR would randomly drop the source as well. It seems they've sorted this out over the past couple of years since the Max SR was manufactured.

I bought this speaker to go on my PC and fit under my curved monitor. It has great sound, the spatial audio is amazing and the sub gives it the right amount of bass. This is the perfect small sound bar for my use. It definitely fills my home office space up and then some. I have it tied in with my Google Home and that works great too. Highly recommend.

I've had my eyes on this tiny soundbar for a while now and after finally purchasing let me tell you it did not disappoint. It's nice and compact but had BIG sound. Dialog is excellent and the sub puts in work. I got a great deal on an open box unit. I recommend it 100%!

Great for Gaming on Windows 11 (With Some Help)

Incredible sound. I'm using it for music and gaming on a Windows 11 machine. Unfortunately, Windows 11 won't run Atmos through DisplayPort. If you want Dolby Access to provide the signal you can only use HDMI. However, you can't connect it directly to HDMI on Magnifi Mini AX. So you need to use an audio extractor. I ended up using an Arcana VRR that splits off the eARC. Sadly, this sets you back nearly $400. If Polk Audio is reading this, gamers have been looking for a tiny sound bar that does what this can but they aren't going to want to cough up another $400 for an audio extractor. If this is technologically possible, advice to make the next revision a hit is to do the following: Magnifi Mini AX v2 will have an HDMI 2.1 pass-through that you can connect your PC HDMI into and HDMI out that goes to your monitor so the GPU's will recognize the monitor and the Magnifi Mini AX v2 will extract audio and monitor will still be able to keep whatever adaptive sync technology they support (VRR/G-Sync/FreeSync). Create that and you'll have the best gaming soundbar in the market.

      Hello Joe,

Thank you for these kind words. We appreciate the feedback and will take this to heart. Our soundbars are developed for home theatre applications and are not designed with PC gaming in mind which is why we utilize ARC or eARC with our HDMI ports to utilize the capabilities of modern TVs. Your ideas hold merit and will be something to keep in the mind as we continue to develop our products moving forward.

Thank you again for providing us feedback and we hope you are enjoying your system. PolkAudioMarketing

This sound system packs a punch in a small profile. This sound bar is only about 1/4 the size of my previous bar, while offering much better sound quality. Be sure to accommodate the subwoofer by the sound bar as indicated in the instructions.

    Impressive Sound For The Size

SETUP: Setup is easy. You make sure both the Soundbar and Subwoofer have power. Then you plug in the Soundbar into your ARC or eARC port on your TV and you are up and running. On the top of the device, you have several buttons, going left to right you have Power, Source, Bluetooth, Mute, Volume Down and then Volume Up (see picture). On the back of the device, again going left to right, you have HDMI eARC/ARC, Optical, Aux, LED for Subwoofer, the Connect button for the Subwoofer and Surround speakers, the Surround SR2 LED, USB port, Wi-fi LED, and power (14V 4A) (see picture). There is only one HDMI port on this device meaning you’ll be sacrificing one on you TV which is a bit of a bummer. The subwoofer should automatically pair to the Soundbar. If it doesn’t by holding the Connect button on the back it will start to blink for both the Subwoofer and Surround speaker, then you’d go press the connect button on the Subwoofer and SR2 Surround Speakers so they are blinking and then once connected they will go solid green. This would be the same way you would connect the SR2 surround speakers if you purchase them separately as they are not included and will provide you with 5.1 sound. I have the SR1 speakers, and they wouldn’t connect which is a bummer. To connect it to Wi-fi for updates and other functionality you hold the power button for three seconds. It will then change the LED on the front allowing you to connect to that Wi-Fi on your cell phone, which then connect your Soundbar to your Home Wi-Fi. This sounds complicated but was extremely simple and straightforward. Keep in mind that if you use the Optical port that you will lose the ability for some formats due to the limitation of that tech. Such as Dolby Atmos. For Bluetooth, you simply press the Bluetooth button on the remote or the Soundbar, it will say Bluetooth Mode, Bluetooth Ready To Be Paired. Then on your cell phone under Bluetooth you choose Polk MagniFi Mini AX and it will jingle and the LED will say connected. And you are all set. I found that there were very noticeable differences difference between the Four Sound Modes (Music, Movie, Night, 3D) and that selecting the correct one for the situation provided the best sound. For example, Music worked best for well Music, 3D was best for any surround format, Night was best to limit overall sound (and worked really well by turning off the Subwoofer and overall bass and allowing you to focus on voices and not bother other household/apartment applicants), and Movie I honestly didn’t use. I did find that Music through Bluetooth on Music mode sounded better than when I was running it through my Apple 4K TV. Which was interesting to me. The remote itself is very nice. Going top to bottom, left to right, you have Power, Info, TV Source, Aux Source, Bluetooth Source, Bass Increase/Decrease (+/- 4), Volume Increase/Decrease, Voice Increase/Decrease (+/-4), Mute, Sound Profile (Movie, 3D, Night, Music), Delay, and then goes into your surround Volume Increase/Decrease and Left/Right Balance. It is small, comfortable in the hand, has a rubber top, plastic bottom, and membrane keys. There are no LED’s on the remote so if you are in a dark room you won’t be able to see them. But they do have white font on a black background so contrast is high. Along with having raised bumps for increased tactility. The most complicated part of the setup is making sure you have the Subwoofer and Speakers setup in the right place. As sound can be dramatically different depending on environment and where you place the Soundbar and Subwoofer. The Soundbar should be as centered to the TV/you as possible and about even with your ears when you are seated. The Subwoofer is more complicated and comes down to individual setup. So, if you aren’t getting good sound try moving that around to different places. Then you’ll need to make sure the settings your TV are set to the correct settings (to allow Dolby Atmos) as not all TV’s can pass that through, along with whatever you are using (Blu-ray player, streaming box, etc.). SOUND: For the size this thing packs some serious sound. The room I have it in is small, maybe 12x12 feet and the soundbar was centered in the front of the room, which was even with where I was seated and at ear level. Meaning the room size for this device is probably ideal. However, it is a bedroom and I’ve got a desk, bed, carpet, and a bunch of other stuff that is going to severely limit sound waves moving effectively making it so things won’t sound as good as they theoretically could. Despite that I still think it sounded great for most things. It’s got very nice bass response (when given the correct material and subwoofer placement), great soundstage, and does a fantastic job at allowing you to hear very quiet parts and then going loud to deliver the correct atmosphere. Vocals were always easy to pick out and hear. I did occasionally have to increase the vocals by +2 but that was only because they were extremely quiet in the original recording. They never got drowned out during heavy action sequences. I did notice that imaging suffered quite a bit and was one of my biggest cons. As when a lot of things are happening at once everything will blend together, sound will soften, and be less impactful. Directional sound (Dolby Atmos/Surround) worked but won’t blow your socks off. I was able to hear things happening overhead (helicopters, rainfall, etc.) along with left and right channel. I almost never heard something behind me. And overall directional sound was rather limited and small most of the time. Volume was never an issue. I had it on 35 (out of 95) which was about 65 – 75 dB. Which was plenty. I noticed if I went louder in my environment that sound quality would suffer as sound waves would interfere with each other so keeping it lower was better for my environment. Night mode worked great by reducing overall sound dramatically, turned off the subwoofer, and allowed me to focus on vocals. I do notice a difference between Movie, Music, 3D, and Night mode. I chose 3D as I felt like it was the flattest EQ sounding (meaning vocals, bass, etc. was all around the same volume) while having the most expansive soundstage and best bass. Music was good on it. By good I mean 5/10. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t all that impressive either. As I noticed overall bass wasn’t super strong, the tops and bottoms of most notes were absent, and imaging suffered a lot as it was exceedingly difficult to find the nuances in songs. But sounds were accurate. As mentioned earlier I got better music response via Bluetooth and on the Music setting than through HDMI. To give specific examples of sound. I watched The Batman, and it was stellar and reminded me how fantastic a movie experience can be when you pair it with fantastic sound, fantastic HDR, and a great story. I had to bump the vocals to +2 as there are a lot of scenes in the movie where they are practically whispering and then you have really epic loud action scenes, and it handled that volume disparity wonderfully. I was also able to get a bit of overhead from helicopters flying over and the rain sounded good. Bass response was punchy especially with the introduction of the Batmobile. The HDR in that movie is also spectacular. So, if you are looking for a great movie to test out a TV and sound system that would be a good one. I also watched some Top Gun and No Time To Die. Both of those also sounded fantastic and were like The Batman. Collateral was hit and miss as the gunshots and dialogue sounded great, but it didn’t handle the score all that well. Again, hitting more of the good/satisfactory category over great. I also watched John Wick 3, Baby Driver, and Fast and Furious 8. Those movies didn’t sound as good as the others. With Baby Driver being the weakest of them as it is so musically focused, and these speakers don’t handle music well. As again, music is heavily layered, and it struggles with that (or at least in my environment). I was expecting more impact with Fast and Furious 8. John Wick has so much going on, that again it suffered. But I was able to tell apart the different gunshots, but directional quality disappeared and overall bass was reduced so it wasn’t as impactful. But this is me being nitpicky as I find this to be very expensive so I’m expecting fantastic sound. At no point in any of my testing did I think this soundbar sounded bad to the point I wanted to turn it off or use something else. It’s just that when you get times where it sounds amazing you always want that experience and that wasn’t always the case. I also noticed a big difference in the quality of sound when listening on a Blu-Ray player compared to Streaming (Apple TV 4K). Which is to be expected as the bitrate for Blu-ray is much higher than on Streaming. But again, no matter what I was listening to it sounded good occasionally getting into the great and fantastic category. CONCLUSION: I think if space is an issue (which it is in my case) this is an absolute BRILLIANT device. As it is tiny but packs some serious sound while delivering a bunch of other features (Bluetooth, Aux, Airplay, etc.), all of which worked well. Across the board it is at least GOOD/SOLID sound that is much improved over any TV speaker. Other times and with the right material can sound GREAT/FANTASTIC. Also, Dolby Atmos helps elevate the sound but isn’t going to blow your socks off performance wise. I had no issues with it working correctly. I never had any issues with the device not working, popping, or anything else wonky. The soundbar’s ability to tell you all the info you need and want to know is easy and then the LED turns off after a short period as to not distract you which is something I really liked. Overall, I am very impressed making this the first time I’ve recommended a soundbar. But is going to be best in smaller rooms over larger ones.

The Polk MagniFi Mini AX is a 3.1 channel ultra-compact soundbar system that, despite its diminutive size, packs a punch with full-sounding, clear audio and a wide and deep soundstage. Its design is simple with soft, curved edges and clean aesthetic. The soundbar’s dense and weighty plastic housing is wrapped front and back in dark gray mesh fabric. The control buttons on top are integrated into a soft-touch rubber pad and allow you to change inputs, enter WiFi and Bluetooth pairing, mute, and adjust volume level from 0-100. Fair warning though, this tiny soundbar has 3 drivers in it and puts out a lot of sound. In my 250 sq ft living room a volume level of 50 is plenty loud for listening to music and watching movies and volumes above 70 shake the walls and floor enough to bleed through to other floors. We tend to keep it set between 30 - 40 for regular use. There are three wired input options on the back: HDMI eARC/ARC, optical, and AUX-in. You can also connect wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi for wireless audio streaming using AirPlay or Chromecast, so you won’t have to download a Polk specific app. Adjacent to the rear inputs, you’ll also find a ‘connect’ button for pairing the subwoofer and/or optional surround sound speakers, a WiFi status LED, and USB input for MP3 playback. The unit will start playing MP3 files loaded to a thumb drive (in alphabetical order) as soon as you plug it into the USB port, however, there are no playback controls like play/pause or track skipping, and it’ll loop continuously until the USB drive is removed. When changing settings a small LED display behind the mesh on the left-front face of the soundbar illuminates with text/numbers for a few seconds. The included wireless subwoofer in this system pairs to the soundbar quickly and easily by pressing the ‘connect’ buttons on both the soundbar and subwoofer for 3 seconds. Since it’s wireless, you can place it anywhere you have an available outlet to plug it into, though the recommendation is to place it along the same wall and close to the TV screen, if possible. The 7” driver for this down-firing subwoofer is located at the bottom, so the sides and front of it are smooth and minimalist; a 3” passive radiator is located in the back. The bass delivered from this sub is deep and satisfying with low rumbles that add weight and gravity to low registers in music, sound effects, and baritone voices. However, if you want to prevent the subwoofer's vibrations from transmitting through your floors and muddying the sound, I highly recommend placing the sub on an isolation pad or a carpet remnant square over bare hard floors. You’ll get the best performance out of the soundbar if you use an HDMI cable hooked up to an ARC or eARC output, as this is the only connection-type compatible with certain features like audio delay adjustment, Roku TV Ready, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. However, that doesn’t mean the sound over an optical or AUX connection is bad; on the contrary, it’s still excellent, but without the spatial awareness and immersive-ness of the enhanced formats. The audio produced is crisp with lots of detail and clarity, and at the highest volume level there was very little distortion. As for audio placement, even without the additional satellite speakers, you’ll get a sense of depth and sound moving from one side of the room to the other with a decent amount of left and right separation. However, if you want the full 5.1 channel surround sound experience, you can purchase the wireless SR2 speakers separately to add to this system. Connecting the soundbar to your WiFi network is simple and straightforward and also enables it to download firmware updates from the internet automatically, which it did immediately after I set it up in Google Home. Streaming music and other audio-only content like podcasts or audiobooks over WiFi works great, however, if you want to stream audio while watching a video on the source device, note that there may be a significant amount of lag and delay between the image and the audio output. With Bluetooth wireless streaming, the lag is much shorter and barely unnoticeable though the sound and image will still be slightly out-of-sync, even if your source device supports Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX, since the soundbar does not have aptX. Still, I find using it with my projector over Bluetooth an acceptable viewing experience while allowing me to place the soundbar below the screen in front of us for accurate sound placement and without requiring us to run any cables across the room. In addition to the on-board controls, the remote control can adjust other sound settings like bass, voice, mode, delay, and left/right balance (when paired with surround sound). Bass and voice enhancement can be adjusted from -4 to +4 and work well. The different modes are Music, Movie, 3D and Night and each sculpts the EQ settings accordingly to focus on musical content, dialogue and sound effects, enhance spatial and depth perception, or minimize volume and bass, respectively. For most TV and movie viewing, we leave the speaker in movie or music mode. If you prefer using your TV’s remote, there’s a 'remote learning' mode that you can enable by pressing the source button for 3 seconds which allows you to teach the soundbar to respond to your TV’s remote. Overall, this soundbar and subwoofer combo deliver an amazing audio experience that is full, rich, and immersive with a number of different input options and enhanced audio capabilities and is definitely a worthwhile upgrade over the sound quality of our TV’s built-in speakers. The soundbar takes up a remarkably small amount of space, and while the subwoofer is somewhat tall and deep, it’s wireless and has a narrow footprint, so it’s easy to move around to find the perfect spot for it.

I can’t believe the quality and volume of sound Polk’s MagniFi Mini AX can deliver! Truly amazing! I just can’t believe how good this thing sounds and how full the room becomes with music and movies! The balance of base with the audio of cinematic dialog is impressive! The music is room rocking fun! I have a small home gym and I was using a stand along Bluetooth speaker for workouts but that was just not cutting it, especially if I was running on the treadmill. When I was streaming shows I would listen through the TV’s native speakers or Bluetooth to my treadmill speakers or the stand alone Bluetooth speaker in the room….Fail! It all sucked. I could just wear headphones, but I don’t like to do that in my home. I never considered a soundbar because the wall I have the tv on is small (see pictures). I have a Samsung 32” smart tv on the wall in front of my treadmill and a full size sound bar just would not work. Then I saw the MagniFi Mini. I did not know someone could make such a sleek compact unit that sounded better than most full size soundbars I have heard. It truly is remarkable! So clear and crisp! Set up was also effortless! I mean plug the units in and boom your set! It plugs in eARC which is awesome. With eARC you can use your native remote to control the soundbar. After the simple set up, I started out with some movies. Just amazing. The bass was deep and filled the room with action. The dialog was crisp and clear (even when watching Tenet)! The Subwoofer tucks away nicely. So compact without sacrificing anything! I also checked on Polk’s web site and you can add surround sound speakers (Polk SR2 wireless)! The music is also room encompassing! Super easy to connect to my phone and ipad. Rap, Country and Pop all sound amazing!!! I wish they would have provided some low-profile HDMI cables and power supply plug in. I mounted mine under my tv and had to go with a shelf instead of a straight wall mount due to the HDMI cable and power supply plugin. They do provide cables though which is nice. If you set on a tv stand it doesn’t really matter. Overall, if you need a small footprint but don’t want to sacrifice the sound quality…THIS IS YOUR SYSTEM!!! It’s almost magic how good this sounds from such a compact unit. NOTE: Keep in mind that my pictures show the MagniFi Mini AX under a 32” tv! 32” inches is small folks but the sound…Huge!

Polk Magnify Mini AX Produces Exceptional Sound

The MagniFy Mini AX is really compact, even the subwoofer is slim. The main unit is a five-speaker array and only 15 inch long. The subwoofer down facing speaker is 5" by 7" oval shape not round, this make the subwoofer as slim as possible without sacrificing bass. Because the subwoofer is slim and wireless, it is very easy to place it anywhere. Even though this speaker is compact in size but the sound it produces is not tiny, it is rich and powerful with a lot of dynamic, easily fill the whole living room. I mostly watch movie and this speaker is amazing for movies; watching movie, the bass is deep and shakes the floor. I like that it has voice adjust feature, this makes movie dialog easier to understand. I also found that you don't need eARC to get ATMOS or DTS:X, my TV only has ARC and watching Star Wars on Vudu, I was able to get ATMOS to the Magnify Mini AX. I can get DTS:X to go to Magnify Mini AX from my 4K blu ray player watching Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom after I set the TV to pass through the audio signal. Beside watching hdmi content, this speaker can stream over Wi-Fi via Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, you can also connect using bluetooth and this speaker support bluetooth 5.0 Even though movie is where this shines, playing music through this speaker is pretty good too. I like the punchy bass it produces. For connect using wires, beside hdmi input, it has an optical in and 3.5mm analog input labeled as Aux-in At the front of the speaker array, is a LED display that shows information such as the input mode, sound mode, input audio signal type, volume etc. It only comes on when you do something, like change the volume, change the input mode or change the sound mode etc. It goes away after a few seconds. Talking about the sound mode, I mainly use movie mode. The 3D Audio Mode seems to only transforms stereo audio to surround sound. If you want to make this a 5.1 system, this speaker provides option to add Polk SR2 wireless surround speakers. Setting this speaker up is very easy, connect hdmi, connect power cable and turn it on, it just works. I can even use my tv remote to control the volume of this speaker. To connect to your Wi-fi network, you use the Google Home app. The app walked me through to finds the speaker and getting it connected to the network. After it was connected, the app updates the speaker's firmware. A very nice touch, this speaker comes with hdmi cable and AAA battery for the remote.

Polk made a magnificent little soundbar that impressed in a very BIG way. don't let this size fool you at all. going into this I also didn't think this soundbar would deliver the expectations of the promised features but it sure did. I initially tested this out in a bedroom and moved to a living room to get the full effect. MagniFi Mini AX Atmos Soundbar is one of the best soundbars I've tested this year and I have a smile every time I use this device. If you looking for a shorter review; easy to set up, ARC works perfectly, Chromecast/Airplay 2 connects with other speakers, Atmos is amazing and it's simply POWERFUL. Worth every penny! Design: It's compact and it's dense. You can feel the weight of the speakers inside the device. Five speakers sit inside this nicely designed black housing with buttons on the top of the device; Power, input, Bluetooth, Mute, Volume -, and Volume +. I definitely don't understand why "Voice Assist" is plastered on the front of the soundbar; it's a technology that can give clear voices to the dialog of movies and such. It works but they must be really proud. There is a mesh covering on the speaker with the LED indicator on the front. LEDs are easily readable in the room of the house. MagniFi looks amazing with any TV setup and it doesn't take much space at all. The subwoofer is also nice looking that's can sit anywhere in the room being wireless. Ports: 1x HDMI (eARC) 1x Optical 1x Analog 3.5mm 1x USB-A (for firmware updates.) Setup: Easy. Once all the inputs are in you are good to go. Using the ARC HDMI port of the TV everything just connected without problems. I was able to use my old remote on the soundbar to adjust the volume. Placing the subwoofer in the desired location was nice being a compact sub. moving it around isn't annoying either. The remote that comes with the Magnifi Mini AX is extremely good and handle to keep around. All the features to adjust modes are there. Features: It's completely packed with modern features I think a soundbar should have these days but this thing excels at what it does which makes it great. Wi-Fi, Google Chromecast Audio, Apple AirPlay2, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth 5.0, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X to name a few. Using Airplay 2 was so great connecting it to other speakers to have a sound all over the house bought a huge smile on my face. The speaker can also connect to Polk's own SR2 wireless surround speakers that are sold separately. Something I'm personally going to invest in. Polk's Voice adjusts works great again you can clearly hear voices from around the room especially when it's set to the max. there are other modes on the speaker like Music, Movie, 3D, and a Night mode. Sound: It sounds like a movie theater in my room, It's so rich and clear with the sound I had to look around the speaker to make sure this is where the sound was coming from. EVERY SINGLE EXPLOSION from a movie I can hear the debris fall to the ground. Playing any FPS like Doom Eternal was booming with each shotgun shot. Forza had me in a sound trance. I was not expecting the sound to sound this good. The subwoofer only added to the rich sound with the downward-firing speakers. LOVED IT! Music shakes the room if you push the soundbar to its limits. Really don't let the mini size full you at all the full experience of sound is there. it's just shocking to me that they manage to put all this into both a soundbar and sub at this price point together Compact Wireless Subwoofer: This is a nice addition within itself as it's extremely powerful shaking the room. it's also small and can fit into some good spots in the room. The bass is perfect letting the speaker fire down so you can feel it if you have hardwood floors. so much to love here in this package. Overall; I'm happy with it and it gives me exactly what I was looking for in a soundbar. HDMI cable, AAA batteries, and the quick start guide are included so you get started as fast as possible. Polk's Magnifi Mini AX is powerful and surprising. Gives theater rich sound to any room in the house and it has features I know are needed in today's technology. from playing games, music, and movies this one sounds paranormal with all. I highly recommend it.

I needed a compact soundbar for my bedroom setup. It seems that most manufacturers have a smaller soundbar, but they didn’t fit the bill. That’s where the Polk Magnifi Mini AX comes in. This Soundbar has the perfect size and features that I was looking for. It includes the soundbar that is meant to sit on top of a cabinet or TV stand and not mounted on a wall like some others do. This compact Soundbar is approximately 14”x3.5”x3.25” and fits in nicely under my TV. The included wireless subwoofer works well with the soundbar. The Magnifi Mini AX has one HDMI eARC, one optical input, one mini jack input, one USB and WIFI connectivity. eARC makes it easy to connect to your TV and send quality surround sound audio to the Soundbar. Included in the box is a HDMI cable and a remote. The soundbar has several sound settings, (Movie, 3D, Night mode, All channel music mode, and Music mode) for the type of listening you are doing. The remote allows you to adjust the bass up or down and increase the voice up or down, as well the usual volume, power and input change. Both the sound modes and the volume levels are displayed on the soundbar behind the grill cloth with blue LEDs. Set up is very easy. Plug in your soundbar and sub and connect the included HDMI and you are up and running. One nice feature is the wireless connection that allows you to stream music from your mobile devices. Polk says that most TV remote will control the Magnifi Mini AX, but I didn’t try that because I use a Harmony remote for my equipment. The sound quality for this mini soundbar is nothing short of amazing with smooth highs and mids and thunderous bass from the wireless sub. Movies sound incredible and music clean full.

    Small Package but HUGE Sound

Over the years I've had many home audio systems from top to bottom of the line. Some worth thousands of dollars and some barely breaking a hundred bucks. I have to say for such an inexpensive home theater system, the Polk Audio - MagniFi Mini AX Atmos packs a huge sound for such a small package. This had to be the easiest home audio system I've ever set up. Everything was well packaged and all I had to do was follow the simple instructions by plugging everything in. The only programming that was needed, was to connect to the Polk Audio soundbar via WiFi to my cellphone and link it to my home WiFi. This was very straight forward and simple. That was the hardest part of the entire setup. I have to say that for such a compact system it puts out a ton of sound. Over the past week we have watched the entire Pirates series of movies, and man this thing sounds amazing. It surrounds you in a great cinema sound that lends to a great movie watching experience. You have the ability to adjust the base and vocals from the remote control, and you have multiple preloaded sound effects at your finger tips. You can not only use it as a home theater system, you can also stream music from your cellphone via Bluetooth. All in all the Polk Audio - MagniFi Mini AX Atmos is an amazing home system. With this system I have removed my outdated bulky system which freed up tons of space and looks much better. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking to spice up their home theater enjoyment.

Polk Audio MagniFI - BIG, pleasing sound

Legendary Polk Audio’s MagniFI Mini AX Atmos Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer is anything but mini in the bold, powerful and voluminous sound produced from its diminutive 15” soundbar containing five speakers. Yes, it’s not much more than one foot in width and only about three inches in height. Product highlights from Polk include – In addition to Dolby Atmos, get DTS:X 3D listening. Polk uses its patented SDA technology that is said to eliminate what they call “intra-aural crosstalk” that “smears” the sound between speakers in other sound bars. Polk explains that what the user hears in music, gaming and movies is a much wider, more accurate soundstage that is comparable to soundbars three times its size. We shall see! Multiple connections make the MagniFI Mini a music streaming hub. Mobile sources use Wi-Fi to send audio using Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect and any Works With Alexa compatible music services. In addition, stream music via Bluetooth or directly from a connected Smart TV’s music apps. Patented VoiceAdjust technology allows users to raise the volume of only voices to hear every word. BassAdjust allows the blending of low frequencies between the soundbar and subwoofer for maximum effect. Presets for Movie, Music and 3D modes is said to automatically optimize the sound to match the content. NightMode automatically turns down the bass and turns up the dialogue for late night watching. The supplied remote is connected right out of the box. It can pair with most TV remotes and is Roku-Ready for even easier integration and control. While Polk says the MagniFi Mini AX sounds great on its own, it can also be paired with Polk SR2 Wireless Surround Speakers completing a 5.1 setup. With the supplied remote control and down firing wireless subwoofer, this system is also easy to set up and to use. Featuring the versatility of Bluetooth connectivity with external sources, HDMI eARC and compatibility with Google Chromecast, Apple AirPlay 2, and streaming audio sent from smartphones that is converted to room filling simulated surround sound. Inputs include HDMI with eARC, optical, analog 3.5 m and USB-A for firmware updates. Speakers include a pair of L and R .75” tweeters, L, Center and R 2” midrange and the wireless subwoofer. Output wattage specifications were not stated and not available at the time of the review. **WHAT’S IN THE BOX** • Soundbar • Subwoofer • Remote control • Soundbar power supply • Subwoofer power cord • HDMI cable • 2 AAA batteries • Quick Start Guide • Registration card • Safety doc **THE SETUP** Following the steps in the Quick Start Guide, bing, bang, bond, it was up and running. Wi-Fi was connected as was Bluetooth. The soundbar discovered and applied a needed firmware update over-the-air. The remote was clearly marked and intuitively laid out for ease of use. The Polk is connected to a new 65” TCL Google TV by eARC. That’s the only wire from the soundbar to the TV. Firing up the TV with the soundbar on, it knew something was connected to that input. The internal TV speakers were turned off. Sound was sent to the soundbar. Knuckles cracked, it’s time to . . . **PUT IT TO THE TEST** Doing nothing more than turning on both the TV and the Polk soundbar, I hit the road, so to speak, launching streaming apps to find content that showed 5.1 audio and Dolby Atmos. There is plenty from which to choose. The first impression that struck me was the huge sound delivered by that little soundbar and powerful subwoofer. I was not prepared and was almost in disbelief that it could be cranked up to be much too loud, yet still produce sound that was never overmodulated. This was most impressive. Using the buttons on the remote, I adjusted both the Voice and Bass to my liking. Bass at Max setting as shown in the display behind the fabric covering of the soundbar, I could sense the powerful bass from the sub. Similarly setting Voice to Max, there was no vocal track on any video tested that became too much to bear. The effect was found to be subtle on sources displaying Atmos. The remote was used to set sound to 3D on those sources, then to Movie to discern the differences. My two compatriots felt less effect than I, so clearly the effect is going to be individual according to each listener. After watching and listening to several movies, it was time to stream audio from my iPhone. As per usual, I have favorites that exude deep bass, crisp vocals and allow visceral comparison with other components tested as best I can recall. Fortunately, Apple Music offers enhanced technology on many of their artists’ works. The Eagles Hell Freezes Over album’s Hotel California, Take It Easy, Get Over It and Desperado have all I need to put systems to the audio test. This was done with the setting to Music. Once again, the soundbar impressed with its capabilities for depth and clarity, as well as room-filling sound that, with the room’s door open, easily filled the house. Clearly, this soundbar is at its best in rooms where more and larger components are either not desirable or even prohibitive. Atmos 3D virtualization is not a substitute for the real thing, for actual rear speakers with a soundbar and sub. Now, let me address the value equation of THIS product. The soundbar market has exploded in recent times and prices are quite reasonable for powerful, excellent performers with the same capabilities as this product. Make no mistake, THIS soundbar is no slouch, and its voice clarity settings work well, but so do other makes and models that have adopted vocal clarity technology. This technology is so necessary today for a variety of reasons. Movie makers have made it harder to pull out the main voices of productions due to the way the movies are recorded and the dialogue delivered. Have you ever been in gathering where everyone is talking at once and you find it difficult to understand what is being said TO you? When movie makers do this, it is intentional and deliberate, all in an attempt at realism. The audience be damned! Any soundbar that lacks a dedicated center channel and technology to pull and deliver the focused player’s sound is going to be at a loss. Fortunately, there are complete systems, with center, R & L fronts, R & L rears and wireless sub, that do a credible job for about the same price. OR, a larger soundbar with dedicated center, widely spaced R & L fronts, and a wireless sub, also priced similarly or for less, this may provide better separation. That’s the buyer’s conundrum. **CONCLUSION** A qualified recommendation is due here. For small rooms, for settings in which the boss of the environment does not want more parts and pieces, this may be a pleasing choice. For rooms in which THIS product meets the need, even the requirement for simplicity and lots of crisp sound from a very small multi-speaker soundbar and sub, I know of nothing better in its class. **WARRANTY** Manufacturer’s one year limited warranty

    Small Footprint, Big Sound

The The MagniFi Mini AX soundbar at just 14.4 inches wide, 4.1 inches deep, and 3.1 inches tall is tiny compared to what you would normally expect. The unit houses clearly labeled buttons on top: Power, input selection, Bluetooth, mute, and volume up/down. Behind the grille is a is an LED display that show your current input, volume/sub/voice levels, and the speaker’s various sound modes. The body of the soundbar lacks wall mounting hardware. The soundbar is powered by and external power supply to keep it's compact footprint. The included subwoofer has a more standard footprint, and the power supply is housed within its case. It also comes with a farily standard remote. Basic setup is very easy, and the wireless soundbard connected for me automatically once I powered it up. If you want to listen to Dolby Atmos or DTS:X content, you must use the HDMI input connect to a TV wwith an HDMI ARC/eARC port that transmits Dolby Atmos or DTS:X via that port. As the soundbar has no HDMI inputs, if your TV can’t transmit Dolby Atmos, there’s no other way to deliver an Atmos signal to the speaker. On the other hand, it may not really matter. The biggest disappointment for me was the fact that the soundbard doesn't do much in terms of Atmos support. Yea, it's there, but frankly whether it's used or not doesn't really make much difference. With no upfiring speakers, and rear surrounds or upfiring speakers, Atmos support is uninspiring. Polk uses digital signal processing to virtualize these overhead channels for Atmos support, but even the best-virtualized height and surround channels can only do so much. The upside is that for a soundbard that requires so little space, you do get a very impressively wide soundstage. The soundbar is equipped with two tweeters and three midrange drivers for left, center, and right channels. While I felt it lacked a little midrange, overall sound was quite good, and the bass module provides a good puch without being overbearing. Polk’s Stereo Dimensional Array (SDA) technology, which projects sound outward at various angles rather than just straight head, does a good job of filling a room with punchy, dynamic sound. Movie/TV dialog was clear, and music was good other than the previoulsy mentioned midrange. If you're getting a new soundbar specifically because you want Dolby Atmos support, you may want to look elsewhere. If you're limited on space, and you don't have lofty expectations from the Dolby Atmos support of overhead sounds filling your room, but appreciate giving your movies and shows a huge overall sound upgrade while keeping the soundbar as small as possible, the MagniFi Mini AX might be exactly what you're looking for.

I always tend to buy a complete home theater system with at least 5.1 and have a movie theater-like experience. In addition, I use a soundbar occasionally but primarily AVR and 5.1 or 7.1 system. Because I wanted to retire my old soundbar and plan to find simplicity and a small footprint since my area around the TV is crowded. I got this Polk MagniFi Mini AX and I was impressed by its performance and sound execution. It amazes me how such a compact size creates a powerful room-filling sound without compromising the sound quality and clarity of dialogue voices. I do know very well that Polk is a leading company in the audio segment and it does not disappoint at all. Unboxing was easy and simple and inside all accessories and equipment are well-stored and protected. Because this soundbar offers plenty of ways to connect, I set it up via iPhone by pressing the power button on the soundbar for 3 seconds and went to iPhone wifi to complete the setup and the whole process took me less than a minute. I set it up on my iPhone so I can use AirPlay to stream from my Apple TV and stream music from my Apple devices. Also, I added it to Google Home so I can use Chromecast. In addition to wifi streaming, it does offer HDMI Arc/eARC and optical cable besides Bluetooth which is good to have. The subwoofer was connected automatically to the soundbar without any hassle. Experience, I used the remote control to turn it on and then pressed and hold the control center button on my Apple tv Siri remote to access the AirPlay and selected Polk MagniFi, and unselected the TV speakers, and then the sound was coming out only from Polk soundbar. The soundbar is elegant and looks neat with its good size screen that uses to display volume control and sound mode. The remote control is compact and good in the hand. No doubt the sound is amazing and I could feel the clarity and clear voices to the extent I can compare to my 7.1 sound quality. Sound mode on the remote provides an array of options to choose from movies, 3d which enables Dolby Atoms and DTS:X multi-dimensional surround sound, and night which I liked the way it focuses on improving dialogue voices and reduces the bass to keep the surroundings quiet and undisturbed. The Polk's voice adjust is a built-in feature that can be used to control the soundbar via voice. I liked the size and its sound quality and remote functions. Great experience and happy with the sound quality in a compact size that satisfies me as an audiophile person and the simplicity of streaming music via wifi whether on Apple or Google devices.

I first got interested in the polk mini because of it’s size. The quality is excellent for its price. was able to get it on sale. The small size enables you too place this thing almost anywhere. The wireless subwoofer has a lot of punch. great for movies . syncs perfectly with my Big screen tv through the HDMI Arc port . TV remote also controls the sound bar and it is flawless. Different built in sound modes are a plus. The bluetooth and airplay options work perfectly when listening to music from my cell phone or tablet. I was comparing to the sonos beam 2nd generation and i’m glad i chose trhe polk. The added subwoofer gives it a better over all sound than the sonos .
