YOU CANNOT TURN THIS DEVICE OFF.

I am absolutely more than happy with the sound of this sound bar. I simply don't have room for one of those long sound bars with big subwoofers, but I certainly had room for this system. And I think the sound is substantially better than many alternatives you might try. For instance, I was able to audition at length the Denon 550 soundbar, and I just wasn't impressed at all. This has clearer sound, far better bass, and controls that truly work. How many sound bars have you experienced where you thought "that's too much bass -- I need to turn it down?" Indeed, I had to turn the bass down a bit from its highest setting. And the voice control truly works to balance the voices with the rest of the sound. All quite good, so far. But setup was a real pain -- a real, MASSIVE pain. I utterly couldn't get it to work. I simply unplugged my previous soundbar -- a Yamaha -- and plugged the optical cable I had plugged into the Yamaha into this Polk system. And it absolutely, utterly WOULD NOT WORK. No sound. Nothing. I tried an HDMI connection, and while I could get it to work, I couldn't separate it from my full-blown audio/video receiver system, which controls all of my audio and video inputs, and is something I only use for video when I'm watching movies at full volume. I utterly could not use the Polk soundbar without also having the full system on and playing. "No, that won't work, either." I finally got the Polk system to work by trying a 3.5mm cable, but of course, "that's not an optimal connection." Eventually, I tried using the cheap, tiny little thin optical cable that came with the Polk system, and that worked. I have some considerably nicer optical cables that I've used with all of my TV sets and attached sound equipment that have always worked just fine -- but not with this Polk system. I haven't the foggiest notion why Polk's system wouldn't work with these far better cables. Anyway. But the last straw was when I turned the Polk system off -- and it turned itself back on, around a minute later. You can do that all day -- turn it off, and it turns back on. YOU CANNOT TURN THIS DEVICE OFF. You have ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL, WHATSOEVER -- if you have your TV turned on, THIS SOUND BAR WILL TURN ITSELF ON. And there appears to be absolutely nothing you can do to change that. This is "day two" with the Polk system for me, and I have sent a support request to Polk, but the Internet is full of stories about how you utterly can't turn this pile of junk off if you have your TV on. "Why would you want to buy a sound bar, and not listen to it??" Trust me, the people who go along with "I don't need any control over my technological life" are perhaps the most irritating people I have ever encountered. Well, in my case, I have the "full system" that sounds better, but I don't need to use it for common, ordinary sound -- that's what I bought this sound bar for. I also have some excellent powered speakers attached to another TV set -- which are considerably better-sounding than this sound bar could ever be -- but read the first part of this review again. I just don't have the room for something like that in my main system. So, this is the "third best TV sound system" in the house, and I might be doing all sorts of other things while the TV sets are on -- like watching videos on my computer. I JUST NEED TO BE ABLE TO TURN THIS SOUND BAR OFF, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? And, yes, with Polk, THAT'S TOO MUCH TO ASK. Try some work-arounds? Fine, let me tell you about that. So, let's just give up on the optical connection, and go back to that 3.5mm cable I mentioned previously. Certainly that can't be a "smart enough" connection to make the Polk system turn on all by itself after I've turned it off, right? Nope -- even with a 3.5mm connection, the Polk system will turn itself back on should you dare to press its power button to turn it off. I presume the same is true if you use an HDMI connection -- the only other wired option -- but I never got that far with it. So, it's all so very simple: The only way to get this pile of garbage to not turn itself back on after you've decided to turn it off is to NOT PLUG IT INTO A TV SET. Simple as that! No more frustration! You can go back to a normal life again, in which turning the power off on some device actually turns it off until you turn it back on again. And I'd like to remind you that you can "not attach this Polk system to a TV set" without paying whatever Best Buy would charge you for it -- and then you can use that money to buy something from some other company that respects your human choices. "But wait, there's more!" So, why don't you just use one of those remote control power outlets, like the ones that are controlled by the various "automated assistants" that you can yell at when you're so frustrated with the lot in life you got when you brought this thing into your home? Well, I tried that, too. And it goes like this: Yes, you can use one of these things to turn the Polk system off. Turn it off with its power button first, or just use the remote controlled plug. And then, when you use the remote plug to turn it on, well, "you're back to step one" with the Polk system -- it'll sit there and "warm up" while it blinks a red light at you for about 20 seconds, and then you'll have to use your remote control to set it to the input you're actually using. So, after about half a minute, you can get sound from the system. Not very optimal, but you can certainly do that. But in the end, unless you're expecting to use this system one hundred percent of the time you have the TV set you have attached to it turned on, you can either be frustrated out of your mind, or I suppose you can just leave it powered up, running up your electric bill, and turn the volume down to nothing, and let it run all day. So, I'm happy with the sound, and I'm happy with how it's small enough to fit into an area where little else will fit. But -- as you might glean from my review here -- I am frustrated out of my mind. It's just something to be aware of before you consider giving Polk your money.

Love the sound quality. I did have to play with home theater and tv to make sure they were in sync. My wife did notice first couple days that the words from people on tv were not coming out of the sound bar the same. But overall great product.

Look, I looked at 7 different Sound bar systems. Let me tell you this thing ROCKS! Works better in a smaller size room( in my condo) but the sound is surprisingly good. The bluetooth connection to the Sub is great, turned on and boom , it was connected. The Bluetooth connection to my cell or tablet works great and simplet to connect. Surprised by the sound for the price!

I like that all cables are included to hook up to my TV. There are multiple choices. After some time and some glitches (controller didn't seem very responsive) I got my sound. It's very nice . I like that I can raise and lower 'voice' volume. I am very happy with the sound and I like the small amount of space being taken up by this speaker.

Surprisingly good sound from a small package. Good bass and clear voices. The remote looks good but the buttons lack feedback. It just uses blinking dots for a display so it can get confusing.

We originally bought this to use in a hotel room because my husband could not hear the tv. We are having a house built and staying at an extended stay. It connected easily and has a great sound! We will definitely use this at the new house. Has great quality sound and easy to use.

Great sound, connectivity is terrible. I've had this for about 2 years. There have been consistent issues from the beginning. Bluetooth has never been able to maintain a connection. I gave up using it to stream music from my phone for that reason. I paid $250 for a soundbar intended to fully integrate with my smart tv. The sound is excellent but I'm now severely limited in how I can use it. It ended up costing me more money b/c I bought UE Megaboom speakers so my family can stream music in the house. My soundbar in real dollars cost me closer to $500. We've had it connected via HDMI to our TV with much frustration. It requires rebooting the Polk soundbar multiple times before it communicates with the TV. Yesterday, it stopped communicating via HDMI completely. We now have it connected via optical cable...which means we must use our TV remote AND the Polk remote and we will have to remember to set the soundbar to optical. Bookshelf speakers would be more integrated than this soundbar and that cutting edge technology has been available since the 1970s or so. Again, I love the sound. It is really good. No complaints about the sound. Better than many soundbars. At the end of the day, I could have purchased nice bookshelf speakers for less and had *better* functionality. I *wish* I could recommend this product but I don't. Not for the price point. You can spend less and get decent sound with full functionality or spring for Sonos to get even better sound with trustworthy connectivity.

Hello, thank you for your feedback and understand your frustrations. Have you tried upgrading the HDMI cable to a 2.1 Ultra High Speed cable? We have often found this to be a solution to the EDID(Extended Display Identification Data) issues between the TV and Sound Bar. If the optical input is necessary, the Sound Bar can be programmed to your TV remote. Further assistance required, please contact https://support.polkaudio.com/

I bought this sound bar because I did not want a very big sound bar. I was very nervous, since this was my first Polk product and I normally buy the same brand as my TV. I just bought a Samsung 4K HDR TV and wanted a sound bar. I am incredibly impressed by the sound quality and surround sound capability for such an affordable price. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and will be looking into more Polk products.

Great soundbar/subwoofer combo. The soundbar is small and compact but dont let that fool you, it is very powerful. The voice function alone sets this soundbar apart from others as it really makes a difference when playing video games/watching movies when dialogue is extremely important.
