I was skeptical due to the size of this audio system, but I am not sure how Polk did it, but the sound far exceeds the size I am using this for my TV and to stream music from my phone (multiple source options) and they all sound amazing The base is deep from the small sub, and the surround matches center speakers far larger in size Overall I am blown away by the output, and value is spot on

Soundbar is really a soundbox because it's compact. Rich sound from such a small form factor. Sub woofer not very loud but tech support said they could replace it. Bluetooth and casting works fine. WiFi enabled but don't need it. Still learning all the features so may provide feedback at a later date.

I received the Polk magnifi mini sound bar as part of the Best Buy tech insider program. This sound bar replaced a Polk SB5500 sounbar which I really like. The mini does offer a few more features that made it a potential replacement for my old sound bar. The mini, like the sb5500 has bluetooth connectivity to play music from a smart phone or a tablet. The Polk mini also offers google cast capability. The sound bar is compatible with my google home as well. I was a little concerned about the small size of the sound bar. The room that the sound bar is being used in is 22 by 34 with 13 foot ceilings. I have to say, however, that the little sound bar is fully capable of filling this room with sound from the main speaker array and the subwoofer. The Polk magnifi mini allows you to adjust the volume for bass and for voice seperately from the main volume. A nice feature to help fine tune the sound coming from the unit. The unit can also be programmed to work with your tv or cable remote so you only have to use one remote. sound quality is good. volume is more than loud enough and the feature set is very good. HDMI ARC, digital and bluetooth allows lots of ways to use the soundbar. I am pleased with this device.and would recommend it for anyone looking for a very solid, lower mid priced soundbar. It is well worth the money.

Easy Setup and a Bang (well, Boom) for the Buck

I have set up and tested a similar model of another brand sold at this price and aimed at this market (small room, no tech headaches) and this was a better sounding result. It comes with all the various input style cables (including an optical cable) and has available ports for USB media and LAN. It supposedly works with the Chromecast devices on your home network. It has available Bluetooth so you can rock out your phone or tablet. Comes with a simple little remote which lets you tweak voice volume as well as overall volume and bass. Speaking of bass....the wireless remote downfiring woofer (still needs AC power) sounded awesome when placed on a hard surface floor to the rear of where you are sitting. The center speaker module is where all the brains for the set are, as well as many small but heavy powerful speakers. I get better bass and midrange out of this little thing than an old-school 5.1 system I have connected to the same TV with a woofer double the size. There are buttons on the remote to get preset sound schemes for sports etc. and the sound is very lifelike when watching sports and movies. I am giving it 5 stars because the sound is great for something in this price range (there are VERY small bluetooth systems meant for cell phones at this price) and it was that easy to set up.

upon unboxing I was impressed at the simplicity of this set up. I didn't read any of the instructions. literally just plugged it up and started playing with it. i'll start with the subwoofer. this little guy isn't so little but not huge. however, I have tucked under a small shelf and forgot it was there until im in the next room and I can hear the deep sounds it puts off. so in all, the subwoofer does exactly what I need it to do. give me a little base or a lot depending on how I feel. next the treble soundbar. I love love love the size. you can put this little guy anywhere. under over besides, doesn't matter. mine is 8' high, so I never touch it. I don't need to power it on or anything. once the tv goes off, the power is removed from the soundbar. the sub stays on but not active. again the sound bar is super small but give me full 180 sound for my 45" tv. the remote is also small and simple. love the pictures (movie, sports, etc) one thing I would like to see next is fully lit remotes, on all remotes, everything, no more cant see in the dark remotes. one good thing though is this remote is texture or has different feels for different buttons. so ive memorized the volume level area and the mute area. all in all, I really like this system.

    Great Sound & Easy Installation

The install was simple using the supplied HDMI cable ... I plugged it in to my HDMI 3 (ARC) connection on my TV and to the HDMI on the Mini Soundbar ... I plugged in the power cable to the wall and inserted it into the Mini Soundbar and my Samsung TV instantly found and configured it as a Home Theater and changed the output ... I plugged in the power to the Subwoofer and it was working within one minute without any setup ... My remote now controls the volume of the Mini Soundbar with no additional settings or changes on the TV. *Highly Recommended for Easy Setup and Great Sound for a Room no larger than 15' x 15" (Master Bedroom)

I have a LED TV, and the sound is pretty bad. This is pretty amazing, love the bass. I have tiled floors, not carpeted floors, so the bass is incredible. Only con, can't get the remote to work with my cable remote.

    Beats television speakers

Like most, I bought this to replace the inadequate speakers on my television. Initially I was attracted by the size and the Polk name. I was impressed that there were extremely few negative reviews from purchasers and reviewers alike, so I thought I'd give it a try. Setup was the easiest thing I've ever done next to my Roku setup. Was very impressed that all three cables, one for each connection scenerio, were included. No running out or ordering extra items in order to make this work. Even though my Samsung television is only 2 years old, I had to opt for the optical connection as there was no HDMI ARC on my tv. Since this was a setup for the bedroom used primarily for streaming via Roku, I did not connect the subwoofer as I'm not a fan of a lot of bass anyway. Love the smaller size. Looks so much nicer than a standard sound bar that runs the entire width of the tv. The sound from broadcast television is amazing! The sports setting is really great for, well, sports! I still have a little trouble with voices while streaming and using the movie setting even though I have the voice setting up to the max. I have to compensate by turning the volume up another notch which makes the rest of the sounds a little louder than necessary, but it works. Not sure if this might have been better if I was able to use an HDMI ARC setup or not. Maybe I'll try the sports or music setting and see if that helps. Other than that, the only downside I have found is commercials. Regardless of whether I'm watching broadcast or streaming, the volume is extremely erractic. As expected, some come on blaring so loudly I scramble for the remote to mute them, while others are so soft you can't even hear their voices (no complaints about that.) All in all, I'm pleased with the results and would definitely recommend giving this one a try.

I used to have a cheap Onkyo 5.1 surround but it died after about 5 years. I have been living with the TV speakers for a couple years now. The rear speakers would freak out my wife late at night so I didn't want 5.1 again. This Polk system perfectly fit the bill. We are both getting on in years so the voice boosting feature was important. More importantly to me the sound was very good. It is surprising to me just how much sound comes from such a little package. And the little sub woofer is noticeable without being noticed if you know what I mean. The price point and the Polk name were bonuses.

If you are getting this for a small living room or bedroom, this is great. Really, it is the best for this niche. I have the JBL SB300 for the living room. I needed a little boost in the bedroom audio. I bought the Bose Solo 5 first, big mistake. I returned it for this and I am super glad. The Bose has 2 speakers. The Polk SB has a total of 6 and a wireless sub. It isn't even a challenge.

This is a buy, buy, buy now! I was first interested in this system because I was looking for a Google Cast enabled sound bar with a small footprint. This is literally the only soundbar that meets that criteria. I was delighted to find that Polk delivers these features and much more. The sound is great and beats my expectations. I appreciate having the HDMI ARC connection- so cool being able to use my TV remote to adjust volume. I also like the digital signal processing sound fields. I actually use them. All of this for a couple hundred bucks!

There is very little bad with the Polk system. But there is also very little that offers a great improvement over my TVs internal sound. To be fair, our TV has the best sound I have heard from a internal speaker. Added features like Google Cast, Bluetooth, etc are nice features but I have a hard time streaming music to the device attached to the TV. It is usually in use by someone. Like: - I do like the sound adjustments made for Sport mode. Watching the Stanley Cup Finals allows you to feel every check and hear the puck slamming against the boards. I swear I heard a tooth hit the ice. Meh: - My wife prefers the sound of the internal speakers, when properly adjusted, to the sound bar. - Ability to adjust the voice level is nice, but it is not consistent when streaming or over satellite. - Bass, I have not found a good place for the sub-woofer that enhances the sound. Dislike: - The sound controls are very minimal. Internal settings and then bass, volume and voice. Need more control for my liking. Issues: -I could not get the HDMI ARC To work consistently. My TV has a ARC/Optical I have to use to get consistent sound and performance. - Bass, When received, I spent a good hour trying to get it to pair as factory pairing did not work. It started working as I was picking up the phone to call support. Overall, if you have a nice picture TV with bad sound, this would be a good add. Otherwise, it is a marginal improvement on better sounding internal speakers. If planning to use as a music streaming speaker, there are other better sounding and smaller options available. I wanted to like this speaker, and I do, it just doesn't do enough to justify being added to my system.

    Audio Sync Problems

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The sound from this soundbar is good, and it sounds nice when in use. There are several difficulties and problems I've encountered though that have made me regret purchasing it. I'm going to list them below: 1. If I pause, rewind, or fast-forward a TV show or movie I'm watching, it will often lose synch between the audio and the video. This forces the person watching the TV to turn it off and back on again to resolve the issue. 2. The soundbar has a power saver mode that cannot be turned off. If, for whatever reason, what we're watching is paused for more than whatever the internal power save timer is set to, the sound bar stops producing sound. The only fix is to take the remote that comes with it and turn it back on again, since it does not wake back up upon resuming watching the TV. Sometimes it won't respond even then and has to be unplugged from power and plugged back in to get it to response. 3. It has Wi-Fi capability, but the instructions to connect the soundbar to the Wi-Fi network don't work. It's supposed to be compatible with Google Home, but the only way to add it to the network is with a separate Android app called the Device Utility App. This isn't included in any of the documentation, and I had to Google the problem extensively to find mention of this program. When trying to manage the soundbar over the Wi-Fi whether to ensure the firmware is up-to-date or do anything to it, my Android phone will often not detect the device. I'm a tech enthusiast and have worked with computers and other electronics in the IT field for years, and this setup is unconscionably difficult to use. I can't even begin to the difficulty someone who isn't a tech enthusiast would have at trying to put this device on their Wi-Fi network. Unfortunately, this was all not discovered until regular use and not evident out of the box except the Wi-Fi setup issues, and I was unable to return it upon discovering the deficiencies present. I don't know why it has such a good rating when it has done nothing but upset and frustrate my family. I will be far more careful with purchases of this type that have good reviews, since that obviously is not an accurate reflection of the quality of the product itself. On a related note, I purchased this back on January 3rd, 2022 but for whatever reason it doesn't show in my purchase history, so Best Buy may not mark this is as a verified purchase even though I have a record of purchasing this through Best Buy.

Richer, deeper sound than most sound bars. Can now clearly hear the dialog along with the music and effects. Tried out one that was half the price with supposed 300w output. Barely any bass and the dialog was muddled at best. Running the Polk in a room about 12x20. Barely have this half way up volume wise and its like sitting in a movie theater.

I've had this soundbar going on three years now. It sounds fantastic, never had a problem with the subwoofer or the sound quality of the soundbar. However, there are times when the soundbar does not turn on, and I would have to unplug it and plug it back in to work again. On top of that, I recently have been having Bluetooth connection problems when that was never an issue before. For the price, it is a great purchase quality-wise, but from a hardware standpoint, $250 would be more reasonable. Maybe they have improved since 2017 but overall is still an amazing product.

Love the sound and ability to adjust settings to sports, music, etc. and the night mode which lowers the base. When it's working properly it sounds great. I do however have a common issue where the sound just cuts out for no reason. We will lower the volume at times using our universal remote and the sound just cuts off. Other times we'll just be sitting there and the sound just cuts off. It gets frustrating. I am getting to the point where I am going to go out and buy another brand that will work. We purchased a return and I guess I can see now why it was. I had an LG for years zero issues until it started to fail, but at least when I wanted it to work it did. It seems to be a fairly common problem with this unit and I just don't understand why Polk hasn't even tried to figure out why this unit does this. I should have went with my first instinct and returned it when it did this on the 2nd day of use. I get a little tired of having to beat on the Polk remote until it finally decides to start playing sound again. I've changed batteries and removed the remote from view as recommended by some still doesn't do the trick. Getting a new set soon if I have the same issue with a new TV then this soundbar will goto to the recycle center.

Even when did not mach my expectations, it's still a very good product/purchase. I have to say that I have a JBL400 in my living room and I was looking for something similar for the bedroom (smaller JBL have no HDMI interface) when found this Polk. Obviously this one does not works like JBL, but gives very good sound and of course enhances TVs poor quality sound. I think subwoofer is the one that .... could be much better and should give more quality bass. Subwoofer's size make you think it will be very powerfull, but is not (in my opinion). My portable Harman Kardon might give more bass! Anyway, you will not find any similar product for this price and size, so: Buy it and enjoy it in your bedroom.
