I had in mind a Bose unit that is specifically designed for that purpose. Sales staff strongly pushed the Polk because I had other Polk speakers. The larger Polk does not clarify dialogue any better than the smaller Polk it replaced. Just blew $200. Should have ignored sales people and bought the Bose.

Would need help from a crossover AVR, but the limits are set by the size of the thing.

Ended up taking it back and trading for Klipsch R34C. There was nothing wrong with the center channel just didn't do it for me,

I replaced my old surround system: a 17 yr-old, low-end, plastic Sony 5:1 system. I also have the S10 surround speakers and the PSW10 subwoofer. Lightyears beyond what I had, yet all affordable, entry-level Polk components. The sound is comparatively fuller with more bass than the plastic little box I had. I never expected to hear much bass from it! Not disappointed at all.
