Weak sound for a hefty price, stick to klipsch it sounds better than this, I purchased this and returned it the next day and bought the klipsch for cheaper and has deeper and better sound

Paired with a Denon receiver, and we still can't get spoken audio on all channels. A lot of money for no performance.

I am 74 years old and have had several Center Channel Speakers over the years. This Polk S35 is by far the best I have ever had. Once you hear the dialog coming from this speaker you will be very pleased. Music is also awesome. In the past I have always had to do a lot of tweaking with my surround receiver to get the dialog where i could understand what was being said. Not with this baby. I knew I was keeping this one as soon as I started listening.

I think this speaker sounds better than $300.00! I listened to it in the store on Best Buy's display and was very impressed with the voice clarity. I don't understand why people think there should be a lot of bass or "umph" (as 1 review stated) in a center channel speaker. It's primary function is to clearly provide dialogue, which it does beautifully. It isn't meant to provide bass or rattle the windows. That's why they make subwoofers. It looks and sounds great. You won't be sorry. I plan to renovate my entire system with the "S" series speakers.

Bought 1 of these on sale before Christmas at a great price. Placed at front stage flanked by Polk S55's L&R Channels, 2 Polk PSW-108's Subwoofers, Polk S10's Height Channels, Polk S50's L&R Rear Channels which are complimented by 2 more Polk PSW-108's Subwoofers. What an amazing sound these speakers produce working in unison with one another (crisp, clear, & thunderous). Completely satisfied with my purchase. Thanks Bestbuy, keep up the good work!!!

Great design, sound and overall beautiful speaker series

The Polk S35 replaces a Polk CSI A4 center channel. It is a great upgrade. The best thing that I can say about the S35 is that it doesn't draw attention to itself in any way. It provides a seamless presentation with improved low level intelligibility. I recommend this model.

The polk s35 L/C/R speaker is part of the new signature line of speakers from Polk Audio. It is a slim version (I also tried out the s30) that by its design is supposed to allow multiple placement arrangements, and especially placement in front/below a television without interfering with viewing of the screen. This speaker is only 4.5 inches tall, so it accomplished that goal and definatey fits the mold of soundbars that are becoming increasingly popular. You will find that dedicated center channel speakers can often be very large (sometimes up to 3 feet long) which makes placement difficult, especially when space is limited. I found the sound of the s35 to be ok for basic voice when watching television; however, the sound had a tendency to become strained and rigid during action scenes that had any lower frequencies. I had my receiver set to small for fronts and center as recommended by Polk fo this model, but even with lower frequencies being diverted to the subwoofer this speaker still seemed to strain at times. Also, listening to any music was very difficult with this speaker used for a center channel, and I had to essentially turn it off when switching between music and television. I suppose the speaker isn't really designed for that type of use given it only has 3" drivers, but larger center channel speakers including the S30 in this signature line seem to mix better with all types of use. In the end, I returned the s35 speaker and picked up the s30, which I haven't been entirely happy with either but it seems to balance better with the polk s20 bookshelf speakers I have them matched up with. The polk signature speakers including the s35 are a good choice for the money/beginner surround system buyers! (as a side note: I am also trying the Klipsch RP150M with the RP450C setup to compare before deciding on my final setup, a bit more expensive but we will see how the performance matches up with polk signature series).

center speaker before, and that is rear firing ports on both sides of the speaker. That way, if your want to use this speaker alone and get sound on all levels, it is very capable. In fact if you wanted to use it alone I recommend this speaker for doing just that.
