From Dad: Seems to work well although fully expanded you can't keep your phone tilted in portrait mode, only landscape. While she usually uses the popsocket to hold her phone, that's usually when she's using it and people usually drop their phone when they're NOT paying attention. Still, she has dropped it less than I would have expected.

It wasn’t until after I installed it that I realized that it rendered my wireless chargers useless. The back of the phone has to sit flush against the wireless charger; this item prevents that. Cool idea, bad consequence.
