This item helps me to use my phone one handed. It pops down when not in use and then you simply pop it up when you're ready to use your phone. It allows you to hold your phone more securely and worry less about dropping your phone. It has worked very well although I have noticed that over time, the strength of the pull-out does decrease and it is sometimes harder to get the unit to hold the phone when it is fully extended.
