Does not fit older PopSocket car vent clip holder

I assumed it was the same size as my older clip and would fit into my existing car vent companion grip clip holder so I could view map routes while driving - but no, the new size is slightly larger and does not fit so I will need to also buy a new vent clip. I don't understand why they changed the size and made the companion product piece I own obsolete after only a few years. Not happy with that PopSockets decision. And, as an additional note, if size changes were necessary between models and companion pieces, PopSockets should have noted that on the packaging so I would have known not to spend the $15.00 or so dollars for an incompatible grip that is useless to me.
