When you "pop" out the holder it makes the phone easy to hold. I caution you to make sure it does not get in the way of your car phone holder. I had to take it off and re-attache it after finding the phone would not mount in the car. It works.

I used it during our trip west and it made it so much easier for me to hold my phone steady when taking pictures and not drop it.
