It is strong enough to use as a kickstand to prop up my phone on a table and keeps my phone secure in the car when attached to the dash mount. This design has a texture, the top is not smooth.

Good for stability with big phones

I can set it on the table and watch shows too. I don't recommend it with the pop-socket car-mount as it is not stable. And if you want to mount it in your car using something other than the pop-socket mount it will be difficult because the popsocket gets in the way.
