Shadow of Nolan
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has the twists we expect in Nolan movies. This is an enjoyable fare but not one of his best.

Not that interesting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Could have had more action in it. Was not that interesting and a much older movie. Seemed like a very long movie. I would not watch it again.

HD digital code only
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.only HD digital code provided. Cannot understand why when paying for a 4K title, the digital copy would be only HD. Rip off. The movie itself is an okay 4K transfer. Good movie. Good cast.

Filled with suspense until the end...like magic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw this movie when it first came out and waited longer than I should have to buy it. Christopher Nolan is in my top 3 favorite directors and he never disappoints. Each member of the cast was a perfect selection for his/her part and the rivalry between Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman is fascinating. The movie starts out with (in a sense) pieces of a puzzle because you are shown both present and future scenes and you know the are put together, but you don't know what leads to it and the suspense only builds higher and higher from there. The story is filled with deception, suspense, jealousy, hatred, and revenge. Two magicians battling to be the best and have taken many risks/chances to doing so. In the end, all is revealed and then you realize that this is an amazing movie and should be part of every collection.

A polished, purposeful mystery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."The Prestige" is that rare specimen of modern blockbuster filmmaking - the type of film that demands you revisit it again and again to fully unwind its tightly guarded secrets. Much like "The Sixth Sense" did several years earlier, Christopher Nolan's film keeps its secrets hidden in plain sight, and yet it's only on a second (or third) viewing that most people will be able to detect them. The less said about the plot, the better. Just know that the story has considerable thematic depth (passion, power, obsession, duality, identity, and revenge are all seamlessly woven into the fabric of the film) and is elevated by the performances of both Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman. The greatest achievement of "The Prestige" is that it ultimately functions as Nolan's own magic trick, perpetuated in front of an audience that views it and is left with the most wonderful question in all of film at the end: "How did he do that?"

Awesome Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw some previews of the Prestige on a few other movies I bought on Blu-ray and the movie looked intersting enough to watch. I had planned to rent the movie off of Netflix but found myself at Best Buy browsing their Blu-ray section and ended up buying it. The purchase is one I do not regret! This has got to be one of the best movies I have seen in a long time! The acting is phenomenal and the script is top notch. I found myself a bit confused in the begining of the movie because the story jumps from present to past to present and it was a bit hard to follow. Though once you understand the story and you reach the end your mind will be blown away. The ending is an eye opener! The movie does a good job of giving you clues to figure out the ending, and some people might even figure it out, but once you watch the ending you still can't help to feel surprised and amazed!

Great movie, crisp picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another stellar movie from Christopher Nolan. Every actor gives a fantastic performance in this film. The cinematography is especially well done, in particular the shot of the train looping through the mountainside, with trees surrounding it on both sides. The plot moves a little slowly in my opinion, but this is one of the rare instances where it's actually a benefit to the film. You can help but feel enraptured by the film as it unfolds, much like the audiences members in the film feel during the progression of a magic trick. A strange sense of wonder, and of the unknown, lurks throughout this film, making it a must see in my opinion.

This Time Batman Is Alfred!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never read the book, but I do love the movie! The Prestige takes you on a journey full of twists and turns as you watch two rival magicians battle it out in an effort to outdo one another. Each cast member seems perfectly suited to their role- I cannot imagine better choices! The whole time you watch the movie, you cannot help but try to figure out the tricks- ESPECIALLY the big one that consumes our main character. Keep your eyes peeled as telltale signs DO pop up during the movie that all make perfect sense in the end, but good luck picking up enough of them to figure it out by the time its all over! One word: DEDICATION. The ending to this movie really makes you smack your forehead in realization, even if it is a bit on the creepy side- I don't think you'll see it coming! As with some movies, this one does suffer from a bit of slowdown at times, but thankfully it is not enough to sour the experience! At the very least, this movie is worth a rental, but I chose to OWN because I know I'll watch this one again from time to time!

one of the best DVDs released this year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With fascinating performance, beautiful musical score, and twisted while clever story line, "The prestige" is undeniably one of the best movies. The movie starts out a bit confusing, with numerous names to keep tract of and it does constantly shift back and forth between the present and the past. However, after 15 minutes or so it'll have your full attention and you won't even realize the movie is about to finish in the end. Depends on how much you think during the movie, you'll likely to be pondering or discussing the ending or even backtract through what happened. All in all, a great flick and an awesome addition for all you movie collectors. High recommended!

Are you watching closely?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Prestige offers superb acting from Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman with great support from Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson. The entire story from the very opening scene grips you and doesn't let go until the groundbreaking and unpredictable ending. It's an absolute thrill ride of puzzles, twists, and turns that has the audience scrambling to figure it out until the secrets are finally released in the last minute. The ending will leave you wanting to see this movie again and again.

Great Film
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first found out about this movie, all I could think about is how Chris Nolan(director), Christian Bale, and Michael Caine were delaying production on Batman Begins 2 aka The Dark Knight. After seeing this film and subsequently buying this film my mind has been changed. This is a very well written, cast, directed and acted movie. Bale and Jackman were great together, Nolan delivers another great film and Scarlett Johansson is a beautiful as ever. I highly recommend this film, if you were on the fence about it don't be, its a great movie that doesn't disappoint

Brilliant movie! Phenomenal entertainment!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this film. It adds all the elements I personally love, intrigue, excitement, comedy, struggles with love/career/commitment. Great cast, role portrayals are spot on, lots of mystery and misdirection. The exact things a magician-based movie should have! I have now bought this film twice! (the first time on DVD)
