I admit I never got to watch this movie until I was in my first year of college. It was the first Hayao Miyazaki I ever saw and I immediately fell in love with it. The best word to describe this movie is beautiful. Everything about it, the animation, the story, setting, and music is beautiful. Thanks to Blu-ray, the movie looks even better. If I ever meet anyone who has never seen anime, I always recommend this movie. To this day, it still remains one of my top ten favorite movies of all time.

Overall a great movie. If you are a fan of anime you should watch this movie.

This is my favorite Ghibli movie. The story is compelling, the characters are interesting and the action is intense. This is probably the most violent movie to come from the studio. There is dismemberment, but not much blood, so use your own judgment with kids. (Personally I think I would have been fine watching it as a child). Anyways as an adult I still love this movie and watch it every couple years.

I can't make up my mind whether this film or Spirited Away is the best Miyazaki film of all time. So I bought both of them. This film is has a deep respect for the planet and the environment. The characters are well realized, the animation superb. And the soundtrack. A great film that should have won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Heck, this is one of the greatest films released in the last twenty five years.

Many Studio Ghibli fans prefer Howl's Moving Castle or Spirited Away. This is personally my favorite Studio Ghibli film though. I love it's theme on the battle between humans and the environment because this is an issue I focus on in real-life. The characters bring this them to life. The art-style, music, and world-building are phenomenal.

My daughter is into anime and we really loved the story line and overall lesson in this movie.

Good Movie, a little long, blue ray quality good, would recommend

This is the best movie Miyazaki has produced. It's a multi-layered story which has unconventional heroes dealing with the conflict between the forces (gods) of nature and humanity, seeking resolution before they destroy each other. All sides have good, and all sides have bad within, and to bring accord, the good will have to find a way to overcome prejudice and bias even if they have suffered greatly from the other.

People have referred to Miyazaki as the Japanese Disney. But that is an insult to the greatness that is Miyazaki. This film is just an example of how he surpasses Disney in every level. The detail, in-depth plot, wonderful characters, lack of racism; a masterpiece. But remember this is not rated G for a reason. You have been warned if you expected this to be Disney with dancing talking boars. This boars don't dance, they get even.

this is a great movie. story and art. its a bit old, but still modern and the storylines reflect what is going on today. i was always curious about the gibli titles and this one does not let down. i will watch howl's moving castle next. much watch. btw this movie can be watched more than once and shared with family.

I highly recommend watching this movie if you are a fan of Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki. One of the best anime movies of all time as well. I prefer Japanese audio with English subtitles but is just my preference. I also recommend anything that comes from Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki to watch. You will not regret it!!

This movie was awesome!! A thrilling adventure with a strong female protagonist.

I recently bought this movie on sale due to my old copy being misplaced. I am glad I waited as this includes a DVD and BluRay so it is nice to have a backup copy. I really wish it would include a digital copy as well but may be due to license issues that they are unable to do so. Overall I recommend this for anyone's collection, great movie and quality discs.

Not really my favorite movie but I still enjoyed it.

This is a wonderful film, though it's slightly more adult in nature than a lot of other Ghibli movies - not inappropriate by any means, but Ghibli movies often deal with very adult themes in a roundabout, allegorical way and this movie is a little more direct. Still well worth watching and still pretty tame compared to 99.9% of media targeted to the same age group.

Despite being well over a decade old, this animated classic stands the test of time. Miyazaki's most graphic and aggressively symbolic feature, Princess Mononoke revolves around humanity's destructive relationship with nature and with itself. Potentially not for younger viewers, though the messages shown are just as relevant now as they were then. I cannot recommend this film enough.

I had this movie in DVD, and once I saw it I knew I had to purchase it in blu ray... Amazing voice characters and amazing plot the end is a little confusing but it really depends upto you how you interpreted it. I do believe that it lives on and things will change for the best with the forest god but the guardians will become regular animals just like how it was mentioned.

Princess Mononoke is possibly my favorite animated movie from studio ghibli. This movie has it all and to me it’s probably my favorite animated movie of all time. This possibly the most dark film in their library of films but it’s got its moments of light heartedness as well.

Here is one of the perfect examples of Japaneese animation. This film has more heart and pathos than most scifi/action/fantasy films. The animation is top notch and the story is entrenched in Japaneese myth. This is definitely the most violent of Miyazaki's films with plenty of blood and fights. Maybe a child a little older could handle the violence and subject matter of man vs. nature.
