I wasn't a huge fan of this movie when I first watched it on DVD. I decided to purchase it, however, in 3D when it became available at a heavily discounted sale price. The special effects and imagery is much more impressive in 3D and helps you to tolerate the mediocre plot and script. Another positive is Best Buy is really stepping up their game in the area of order online and pickup in the store. If you want something in hours and not have the hassle of a drive to the store only to find it is out of stock, this is the way to go.

If you're a fan of the Alien movies this is a must see... At least to know the story, and enjoy the next chapter Alien Covenant, which in my opinion is much better.

I have been a huge fan of Ridley Scott, all the way back to the original ALIEN film. The franchise seemed to have lost steam in the 90's and the first decade of the new century. Then Ridley announces a pseudo-prequel to the original. This film did not disappoint me in the slightest, because we were given interesting characters that we understood pretty quickly without too much time spent on their development (Just like the original), and some awesome visual effects sequences. Now, i only purchased the 3D edition of the film, because it's the only way to get the extensive bonus features, but the cost was worth it!

Very entertaining if you're into "terror in space" flicks, and perhaps even if you typically aren't. There's not much I can say about this one except that it is well worth watching. The Characters are so so for the most part, but Michael Fassbender shines as the Android who seems to yearn for something more than his mathematical, mechanical existence. Idris Elba is entertaining as the ship's pilot, who also serves as occasional comic relief. The scenery is immersive from start to finish,the creature designs are very high quality, (with some features that may jog your memory of other films...) and the backstory is one of the more intriguing ones of recent cinema. Go ahead and give it a watch.

As a longtime lover of the Alien franchise, I was one of the people looking forward to Prometheus and unfortunately walked way disappointed. I think that while it's a gorgeously shot film, the plot and characters are very weak and leave something to be desired. I held off on buying this blu ray for a long time, but with Alien Covenant coming out, finally decided to pick it up and what makes this blu ray well worth the purchase is the special features. If you're a fan, you'll definitely want to pick this up.

Without giving too much away, this is the proverbial start of the Alien franchise universe and goes on to suggest that mankind was created by the "Engineers" who came from a long distant star system to seed life on Earth. Well, it doesn't go too well for the crew and that's all I will say for the rest of the story. The movie is well shot and keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you're a fan of the Alien franchise, this is a must see! And of course it's the direct prequel to Alien Covenant. Go see that too!

I loved the Aliens movies and this somewhat of a prequel is pretty cool. The story is interesting but you'll be scratching your head as to how dumb these so called scientists are. "Hey look at this alien snake looking thing. I think I'll pet it." The movie is still fun to watch and the visuals (and audio) will keep you interested. The 3D looks really good!! There aren't any pop-out 3D moments but the film looks amazing (even during some of the dark scenes). What I enjoyed the most was the sound. This is one of the best sounding blu rays I own. Lots of stuff happening all around you and it's simply a feast for the ears. I got this on sale for 12.99 which was an amazing deal.

I really love the Alien franchise, and I always find backstory information for my favorite movies very interesting. Promethius sets up the start of the Alien series in a methodical but very interesting way. And it leads directly into Alien:Covenant (although Covenant takes place ten years later). I highly recommend watching them as close together as you can - I watched Prometheus one day and went to see Alien:Covenant the next, and it was a blast. Promethius segues perfectly into Covenant and you will get to see the character of David develop during both movies in such a way that it will blow you away!

Good story telling usually lends itself to either repeating or expanding. The Aliens story has historically been one of those tales. This "sharp" look at the beginnings of the saga does a very good job of opening our eyes to the films that proceeded it. All the elements are in place for great movie story telling ... and though some have a marked similarity to the original movie, they do not rely on them too heavily. It was also nice to see a more "petite" heroine to carry on the tradition started by the first Alien movie.

Ridley Scott's Alien was a genre-defining movie in the same was as Star Wars, Star Trek, and Matrix, making it's sequels somewhat disappointing as follow-ups. Thankfully, the novelty of the origin story of the Aliens help save this movie. We have the typical failure to follow common-sense and abundant opportunities for the Aliens to isolate and attach crew, but we also have a megalomaniac and his soul-less snyth nudging things along. Special effects abound and the overall filming & sound are up to today's standards...go Blu-Ray or 4K for the best options.

"Prometheus" will not likely satisfy certain fans looking for something that continues the approach taken for the original "Alien", and the film certainly has flaws in both plot and character development. However, it does open the series of "Alien" films in an intriguing way... and Scott's eye for beautiful visuals can't be denied. The Blu-ray has a nice selection of extras and the picture and sound quality are top-notch. Recommended if you enjoyed the film in it's theatrical run.

I viewed the first several minutes on someone else's DVD, because my Cyberlink software now claims I need to upgrade in order to watch 3D Blu-rays with these newer movies. This movie will be amazing in 3D! Visually, at least. Cyberlink bundles an ancient version of their software with LG burners, making it only good for a few months, and upgrading costs as much as buying new. So I'll buy a DIFFERENT brand, and then enjoy this amazing movie as I'd hoped to, in mind-blowing 3D.

I found this to be a refreshing addition to the long standing Alien franchise. Dealing with the beginnings of the Alien mythos, and starting the prequel series leading up to Alien, Prometheus really sets up the world and focuses on the faith rather than the horror surrounding the Aliens. This film is definitely different to other Alien films, the special effects are great, and it's not for everyone, especially if you love the Alien movies as action horror.

This is another sci-fi movies from director Ridley Scott. It stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pierce, and Idris Elba. It is a well produced movie that looks amazing on Blu-Ray. It is very entertaining from start to finish and a must have for the sci-fi/fantasy fan. It comes with a HD Digital Copy however the code is expired and no longer valid, just a heads up. Even without the digital copy I got this for like 8 dollars on sale and consider this a good deal.

I actually saw Prometheus the evening after seeing its Sequel at Theater. The action is NOT even close to Alien or Aliens. Movie is better than the 2 Movies after Aliens. A weird happening: how did David operate the Engineer's Ship? A good question seeing that "he" was just a severed Head! If you are a Fan of the Alien Franchise, then Prometheus is worth seeing, specially if ou go and see the latest Alien Movie at Theater.

I actually really liked the build up on this film. I didn't actually realize it was part of the aliens movie series until the end. And unfortunately that was probably this movie's downfall. There was so much good suspense and mystery built up. The ending just didn't seem to mesh to me, maybe a little rushed at the end. Not sure.

One of Fox's better 4K UHD efforts (before Disney took over and seems to have halted most physical media releases). Overall, the 4K UHD transfer is a nice improvement from the previous blu-ray. I noticed a bit of increase in detail and the HDR color grading really gave greater depth to several scenes. This presentation looks very nice for this controversial but beautiful sci-fi/action movie.

The effects, story line, actors, acting, the music, and etc!! Ridley Scott is a film maker mastermind. I don’t understand the hate he gets for his films such as this, alien covenant, blade runner and etc. But overall I love both alien prequels and hoping for the third installment to complete the storyline and also work on Alien 5 with Ripleys return. 4k makes the film more alive and beyond perfection.

Not memorable, but bot bad. Only fair story and acting. Labored a little to get through watching it.

From the first 10 minutes of this film, one gets the feeling and knowledge that this idea of space aliens who once helped in the DNA development of humans is going to be put forward in a very rare form of movie excitement. I have seen many, if not all of the 'space alien' movies, and this one is up there in the top 5! A must see for all who are intrigued by sifi. It's great in HD and surround sound; hold on!!!
