Let me say up front I enjoyed Alien and Aliens immensely! The others were not as good. But Prometheus was tantalizing because maybe there was a possibility of learning where these horrifying impenetrable metal dissolving jaw retracting alien monsters originated!! I really enjoyed the possibilities and there were so many unanswered questions at the end of the this film. It was as if the writers weren't sure where to take the prequel sequel next. Having said this, the movie was still enjoyable for me and I loved the suspenseful sci fi action. 3 D only enhances the pleasure by a factor of 10. The next installment finally in the works has great potential. If you liked the Alien series, Prometheus should entertain you as well.

    Allow Yourself to Be Wowed

First things first: this film is GOOD, not GREAT. Looking past that, I think it's important to allow yourself to be wowed by the modern science-fiction movie-making that is possible now. Prometheus is a trip into a slice of a universe with which we're vaguely familiar, but it raises more questions than answers. Maybe that's at least one reason for all the backlash the movie received from fans of its close cousin, Alien. Moreover, the scenes and tension build ups are gripping and relentless once they get going, but that's another issue, you have to wait for them to "get going." With a good suspension of disbelief and casual expectations, this should become a second tier favorite for fans of sci-fi horror films.

I've basically said it all in that waht's great/not so great sections: the film itself is great, and the contents of the disc are exactly what I would expect. Only gripe is how the digital downloads are handled. Had to jump through several hoops and endure an email chain with customer support to redeem my download code. I'm not sure why I bothered at all, since I'll probably never watch it... but it's the principle!

Although I wasn't completely sold on this delusional preclusion... since film had its weak directorial and acting moments... (especially after waiting so long on the 5th follow up) it does have decent moments... visually stunning and its great to see the ship from "planet of the vampires" once again... along with the original awesome Alien interiors,,, But don't think I'll never get over dumb scene where one of the supposed scientists (a severely stupid one at least) puts his face up to an unusually sinister looking large wormlike creature talking to it like a fuzzy wuzzy plush toy for idiots... just before it bites his soon to be unmissed face off... I would hate to be the goofy actor playing the part of a zookeeper at a petting zoo in a not so great alien sequel in a poorly written and directed death scene... anyway.. I've read that Ridley Scott wanted to expand the alien universe to be a multi alien inclusive Utopia... sure... I'm all for it... but maybe he's thinking Star wars with face huggers..I'm just sayin' :-) just hope #7 takes us somewhere else in an alternate more intelligent and meticulously thought out dark universe... because there's no goin' back now.. Sigourney Weaver Kenobi, you could be our only hope....

What can I say, Ridley Scott has some real winners and some real stinkers. This one falls somewhere in the middle. The sorta prequel to Alien has all the makings of a great, heady, sophisticated Sci-Fi film but is just missing a few ingredrients. The story has some great promise and teases some major terrifying moments and then just feels like a different movie in the second half (no doubt due to the multiple screenwriters they involved and all the rewrites and fixes). The characters are a little too one dimensional and cliche. Michael Fassbender knocks in out of the park as David.....the ships resident Droid. Idris Elba is always great even though I feel like we could have seen more of him.

Ridley Scott finally returns to the Alien franchise with Prometheus. This was a movie that was met with a divided audience. People either loved it or hated it. I won't cast judgement on what I think of the story or characters, but I do feel that the movie is beautifully shot and the blu ray comes loaded with a ton of cool special features that will prove interesting for fans and movie buffs. I would say if you're a die hard fan of the Alien franchise, then this is a must own with how Fox seems to be reinvigorating the series. Also, I would say that if you can own Alien Resurrection, then you can certainly own Prometheus haha.

Ok, I am a fan of this franchise and yes I actually like this film. There are many reviews of this movie already so I will not bore you with a synopsis or spoil anything with a review. This movie is not for everyone and that is one of the things that makes it so good. it's not the cookie cutter blockbuster film full of superheroes or over the top special effects. There is an actual story here and that is what makes it unique in this genre. If you are expecting "Aliens" this is not the movie for you. If you are looking to delve deeper into the mythology of the "Alein" franchise then this is well worth the time.

    Prometheus Better in 3 D

I already had the 2D version of this movie in my collection. When shopping at my local Best Buy store, I saw the 3D version was on sale for $9.99 (a big savings). I am a big 3D fan. Due to growing up in the 1950's during the hayday of 3 Dimension movies and seeing first hand most of the 53 movies produced between 1953 and 1955. 3D gives you the feeling of being there, participating in the situation of the storyline. Especially if you are watching in a theatre or have a big screen (65" or larger) TV. I definately enjoyed the movie a lot more watching it in 3D. Especially since the great advancements in 3D projection technology. Gone are the projection/viewing problems that was present in the duel projector method of the 1950's.

    Love/Hate

If you're a huge fan of the Alien franchise of which this film is meant to a prequel of sorts you will have a love/hate relationship with this one. On the love side it does give you some background to where the aliens originated from, it also shows some really freaky forms of the aliens and some other cool background. On the hate side..it's really not a great movie by itself. A lot of questions are raised that are never really answered and nothing really directly sets up the Alien movie. It could be redeemed with a great Prometheus 2..not likely. Check this out if you can't get enough of Aliens or are a sci-fi nut. Otherwise..probably want to skip it.

Prometheus was interesting - it's like all the ingredients for a great movie are there (director, DP, cast, the overall Alien series mythos)... and yet, the result is less than the sum of its parts. There are high points - some good setpieces, characters, and performances. But overall, the story felt a bit predictable and by-the-numbers. If you are a completist, and can catch this on sale, it's worth a buy. But you'll probably find yourself reaching for the other films in the series more often than this one.

Another amazing movie from director Ridley Scott. It’s a terrific look at the visceral opportunity a movie in space can have in showing the vast expanse known to us as the stars, and has terrific casting that creates characters you really feel attachment to by the end, including Michael Fassbender’s amazing performance as David. The copy you get is no less great, with the 4K version giving it even better colors and graphics that will dazzle the eyes. A must buy for any Alien or sci-fi fan

Love this controversial sci-fi original and epic space thriller! The storyline's ambiguous and fascinating, and the film bursts in stunning visual and special effects. Big things have small beginnings. If you haven't seen this science fiction thriller, then remedy that now. This Blu-ray is packed in High/Standard Definition and digital copy with spectacular bonus features; audio commentaries by Director/Producer Ridley Scott, deleted and alternate scenes - including alternate beginning and ending, and a second screen movie application. Prometheus is a thrilling sci-fi journey to the darkest place of the universe. The story and film explores theories on the origins of humanity and relationships to extra-terrestrial visitors. Brace yourself for a whole new breed of humanoid life.

This was my first time watching this movie and I thought I was just okay, maybe some of the plot holes made me knock it down a bit but overall enjoyable movie. As for the 4K experience, this movie looks incredible so much clarity the HDR is great. Saw some still comparisons on YouTube and this is definitely a upgrade over the Blu-ray especially since a lot of this movie is dark scenes. This would be a great addition to your 4K collection.

"Prometheus" is a tremendous movie told in a way that drew me into the story like few movies have. The cast is good, highlighted by Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, and Idris Elba, but the script is what propels this film to "must-see" territory for me. Full disclaimer: I'm a big "Alien" and "Aliens" fan (but not of the movies that came after) and view "Prometheus" as a prequel that adds to the overall enjoyment of the later films in the chronology. Cannot wait to see the sequel to this film. "Prometheus" was thought-provoking and entertaining at the same time. Highest recommendation to any sci-fi fans or those who like a good story that will actually prompt one to question our very existence.

Awesome prequel to the Alien series, it answered many questions, however created a lot more as well. There were a few continuity errors, or at least seemingly so, though if you think about them they can be justified. I however, would not recommend the movie to anyone that has not seen at least the first Alien, otherwise the movie can be a bit confusing. Though it is also a good stand alone, things do not tie up all that well until you see the Alien. I still recommend this fill, but make sure to get it with Alien and either watch that first or immediately after, things will start to click into place when you do.

I loved this movie for at least one significant reason - it assumes the viewer is critical and smart. The questions and answers, of which there are far fewer answers than questions, aren't spoon fed to you. You, as the viewer have to figure it out. Luckily there is a sequel on the way, so hopefully more answers are to come. The the disc itself, I'm very happy this came in 3D. Its a shame 3D TV never really caught on. Its a great format, is fun to watch at home. Now that VR headsets are becoming more popular, maybe 3D can make a comeback as well?

Before i get on to my review, i would say that while this version has a few bonus features, the version to get is the 3D combo pack which includes a whole bonus disc of Bonus Features filled to the brim. Now as far as Prometheus, this movie is a great prequel which provides an entrance into the much loved world of Alien. It takes a while to get going, but don't all origin movies? The back story that is built from the very beginning is worth it. The question that has been asked since the beginning of time. Where do we come from? Well without giving away too much of this movies plot and spoilers, i would say watch this movie, and prepared to be enthralled with beauty, detail, immerse sound and a great story.
