I've loved this movie since it came out almost 25 years ago. Christian Slater plays alienated teen who takes to the airwaves on a shortwave radio set with a mixture of cool songs and plain talk about the struggles of teenage life and soon finds he has a following amongst his fellow students, which threatens the status quo at his tightly run high school. Great soundtrack, acting and dialogue, the premise is interesting and even if it rushes to wrap things up at the end it doesn't go for the obligatory happy ending. One of Christian Slater's best performances, which along with Heathers and True Romance had him at the top of young actors in the late 80's and early 90's. He has several monologues in this which are terrific.

My thoughts on purchasing this movie was that it was going to be dated and not as cool as I remember. I was wrong. most of the topics are still relevant today minus the technology. plus, Christian Slater. I really enjoyed it. Aged well

I like how they're bringing back the older movies to bluray so you can enjoy them with what you grew up with, with your kids to give them the aspect of what situations we dealt with and how it continues to this day.

I like this film Pump Up The Volume on DVD, it's seem like will make me think about myself back in my high school daze without express my feelings in my own pirate radio station, Christian Slater had a brilliant performace in that film, Slater plays as Mark Hunter, who is a shy high school student who moved from New York to Arizona in an new high school, but at night Mark becames as Hard Harry, a pirate radio VJ who have a sound-like voice as Jack Nicholson talked about anything in life and high school, then Mark have meets a girl named Nora (played by Samantha Mathis in her film debut.) Plot, Cinematography, and Acting is great, and the soundtrack in the film is so cool, featuring the songs was featured in the sountrack album, and some songs was featured in the film including Leonard Cohen's Everybody Knows and Was Not Was' Dad, I'm In Jail was not featured in the soundtrack album.

Behind the mask of anominty Christian Slater railss against the establishment. His barbs at the school administration and in life in general ranles the tyranical principal and the school board alike. Developing a cult status for his show Mark Hunters alter ego H.H.H causes the authorties to resort any means nesscary to catch him. When a couple of tragic turn of events accure even H.H.H. realizes he needs help and recruits his "greatest fan". The monolougs that Christian Slater are well worth the movie and Samantha Harris is wonnderful as his "greatest fan".
Not for children but a fantastic movie.

'Pump Up the Volume' is a movie I enjoy, but not one I can necessarily say is outstanding. The subject material caters to a very select audience, and while the film has developed cult-like status, I'm not surprised it never hit the big time. Bare bones dvd, but at least it offers both widescreen and full-screen viewing options.
