    I purchased this to help raise the humidity level in my house to help with the static shocks we all hate, waking up with the dry mouth and to generally keep my house in a healthier humidity level (40-60 percent). It works well and I have found that I go through about 3/4 gallon of water every 12-14 hours on the highest setting.
