My fridge warns me about changing the filter every 6 months or so. The filter is a bit expensive but it serves its purpose so can’t complain.

There are no generic alternatives of quality like there are for other brands, so you're stuck buying Frigidaire's filters. Which do not last anywhere near as long as they claim, I consistently find the water pressure to decrease about 2 or 3 weeks after putting a filter in. There's no way we're using 150 gallons from our water dispenser in 3 weeks. But of course, what other options do you have?
