    BEAUTIFUL SET, HORRIBLE HANDLING

Beautiful boxes set, however: metal box delivered damaged, with 2 huge gashed on each side. I wasn’t going to complain, but it looks like multiple people, nationwide, received the same damaged item, exactly the same way... highly disappointed with an item that cost so much to purchase.

Excellent collection for the Rambo. Movies beautifully restored especially in 4k. The movies look they were made now. Recommend for gift for a fan or to enjoy 4k picture quality on 4k tv from movies from the 80's.

The 1980s were dominated by some of the best action movies of all time. Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, Ford, Willis, Gibson, and Stallone were masters of the cinema. Especially Stallone with his numerous franchises, none more iconic than the Rambo films. Not all of them were in the 1980s but they were the best as the others come from the 2000s and 2010s. All five collected here in a magnificent set. The first three movies are phenomenal because these are a special restoration and while I notice it to a degree in the Blu-ray, it is undeniable in 4K, and I cannot say how much I love it. These movies are over thirty years old, but it looks like they filmed them a year ago. All the colors, the details on people, places, and things from wrinkles, muscles, sweat, lips, eyes, hair, window reflections, and more are phenomenal. Starting it off is First Blood. John Rambo just wants to see a friend from their time in Vietnam but sadly the man died of a disease, so he moves on to the next town where he is unwelcomed by a sheriff by the name of Teasle who wants him out. But Rambo is hungry and just wants a meal, but this sheriff is an arrogant man who sees Rambo’s long hair, stubble, and Army jacket and sees a vagrant. Rambo snaps and causes trouble and that trouble spills into the town. Regarded as the most realistic of the Rambo movies with the mistreatment that Vietnam veterans endured coming back to their country but with an extravagant amount of violence and action. It a great start to a wonderful franchise. Next is Rambo: First Blood II. Rambo serves time for the events he caused in the previous film as he is offered the chance to redeem himself for his actions but also to gain payback for Vietnam by going back on a special mission to search for POWs illegally held in the country. Despite the support by the US government, a bureaucrat has a hidden agenda as Rambo ends up betrayed all while facing Vietnamese and Soviet enemies. This movie made the franchise as the title First Blood was forgotten to be replaced by the man himself. The action and violence are multiplied several times in a story that was the epitome of 1980s action movies – a message of patriotism and hope. The best film of the franchise. Next is Rambo III. Rambo is called upon to help the US government’s efforts against the Soviets in a war that has become like Vietnam was for the US. Afghanistan, a country in the middle east has humiliated the Soviet Union and is prepared to push them out but they still need help as Rambo’s mentor Colonel Samuel Trautman needs Rambo for this one last fight. Rambo, tired of having to fight for the US government refuses at first, but when he learns that Trautman has been captured, he joins the fight to bring back the last friend has left in this world. As phenomenal as the previous film and would have been happy to end it here but the following movies are still appreciated. Next is Rambo/John Rambo. I know that there are two versions of this film and I am glad to get both cuts in the collection. After the events in the previous film, Rambo returns to Thailand and after losing just about everyone else that he knows in his life, he lives day by day in the waters on the border of war-torn Burma. Then a Christian missionary group needs to go across that border to help out the downtrodden Christians. Rambo sees these people as naïve, but he gets to know them and when they get into trouble, he sees it through to help them with a group of hardened mercenaries. It had been a long time since a Rambo movie came out and while its premise felt real it would not have been better had he gone back to Afghanistan and fight Al-Qaeda to tie events with Rambo III, as well as more people from his past. But the Trautman actor was dead and Stallone was moved by the struggles of the people of Burma. Still, the young boy and the guide could have been great to see again. Finally, Rambo: Last Blood. After the events of the previous movie, Rambo returns to his childhood home in Arizona where his family is dead, but the family of a dead maid lives in the house and though they are not blood, they are family, the maid’s mother, and her granddaughter Gabriella. Gabriella is a beautiful young woman on her way to college, happy thanks to being living with Rambo who has been a man more of a father than her own, an abusive man that left his own family. She is a good person, too good because of her sheltered life who does not believe evil exists in the world without a reason. She makes a great mistake to seek out her father and ends up in a dangerous position that has Rambo come after and save her. Movies like the Taken Trilogy and the John Wick Trilogy show that age is only a number when it comes to old action stars being convincing as ferocious warriors. Stallone lives up to it and more. I hope there is another but if there is not, I am glad that Rambo’s glory lives on. As I mentioned before this movie set is phenomenal for its special collection cases but as well for its phenomenal picture quality in the first three movies. The last two movies are fine but not as groundbreaking. The behind the scenes features on the discs are phenomenal with dozens of hours of recorded footage. The making of the movies is amazing. With the original writer of First Blood to all the directors of the movies and performers providing their memories, with John Rambo being Stallone’s diary of daily events. It is unavoidable to mention the political aspects of the first two Rambo movies with Vietnam as some uncomfortable documentaries on the subject with liberal professors and protestors condemning the war alongside conservative veterans and politicians defending the war. I do love that the first three movies have professional bodybuilder Franco Columbo showing how he got Stallone in shape for the second movie, and you cannot help but try these moves even without weights to lift just performing the sit-ups, squats, push-ups, and stretches give you an idea of how taxing it is. Half the time I felt like cussing out the good doctor. The deleted scenes are impeccable for the most part, but I wish they had included a scene that showed that Rambo in the first movie tried to get something to eat in one town but was refused and charged for the condiments he put his hands on, showing Rambo pushed back with Teasle because he had enough. I did find it cool seeing the fabled alternate ending of Rambo being killed in the first movie, nice but thank goodness it was not added. Rambo III had some nice, deleted scenes, I would have liked the alternate scene where Rambo stays in Afghanistan. A phenomenal collection! Thank you Best Buy for this collection.

    Another Steelbook arriving dented.

How can you not love Rambo? Psyched to add this to my collection, but....it arrived yesterday. Dented. Again. Every third Steelbook I order arrives dented and I have to do a return/exchange. It’s frustrating, hence the 3 stars. Any way Best Buy warehousing can greatly improve the packaging? It’s terrible.

Mine didn’t come dented but it came with 2 box cutter slashes across the side. This is literally the 4th Steelbook in a row I’ve ordered with problems! Best Buy do a better job with packaging and not hiring idiots. Going to return and now I have to wait once again to receive my item. Basically a roulette with what you get in terms of damage
