The covering is half elastic and solid plastic. My biggest fear is loosing one of the AirPods fumbling with the protective cover. Accessing my headphones or putting them in should be easier. The earbuds are too expensive to lose.

Took me a minute to figure out how to use it, as I was quite surprised that you have to flip the rubber inside out to access the airpods.
