I've been using the Razer Barracuda X Chroma for a week and the sound quality is pretty good for a gaming headset. The Razer TriForce drivers do deliver. They provide a well-balanced sound profile that's great for gaming but also holds up well for music and movies. The bass is pretty deep and driving without being too overwhelming. Explosions and gunshots have a satisfying bottom to them, but they don't drown out other important audio cues like footsteps or speech. In the midrange, voices come through clear and not tinny. The highs are detailed without being harsh, adding a nice high flavor to the overall sound. The sound isolation is decent for a gaming headset. It won't block out everything, but it does a good job of muffling background noise, helping you stay focused on your game or music. It doesn’t have active noise cancellation which i think should be included, even if it’s rudimentary, especially at this value level. More on this in a second. Music-wise, these headphones perform better than I expected. They handle different genres well, from bass-heavy dub and funk to more nuanced acoustic pieces. The sound signature is slightly V-shaped, which means the bass and treble are a bit emphasized compared to the mids. This makes for an exciting listen, especially for pop and rock tracks, but it’s not that good for me in contemporary orchestral, movie soundtracks, or classical. This can mean the more cinematic background music may make you crank up your volume. Audiophiles might find some more nitpicks, for most gamers and casual listeners, the Razer Barracuda X Chroma delivers a sound quality that's pretty good. Latency: not much latency at all over bluetooth wireless, but you can still “feel” it. If you want to decrease the latency, just use the 2.4 dongle that comes with the headset. I wish that Bluetooth was faster, but we live with it. I WISH that these headsets today would quit not including a 3.5 jack. Why not? It’s ancient and cheap technology that most people really really like! Ok, at the end of the day, if you are a Razer enthusiast or you want to be because of the LED color control through Synapse or the Chroma studio, this is your new headset. You don’t give up much to get really nice nice bling. Because I have a Razer Laptop, a Razer TB Dock, and a Razer mouse, it’d be crazy for me NOT to get these.

Overall – I was not impressed with this, nothing really stood out as well as I would have expected something in this price range to have a key feature that separates it from the others, that said overall nothing I dislike but nothing that jumps out as better than others. Touch and feel – I will say these were very comfortable, the memory foam is a nice touch. They did feel solid however a bit concerned about the longevity of the band with constant use. Setup/Connections – they connect automatically to my PS and I was able to get them to connect to my computer with the USB dongle and phone via Bluetooth. All pretty much self-explanatory. Functionality – Let's start with the sound – it was OK nothing I can really point to to say I didn’t like but nothing that really stood out. I did have to make some adjustments in the app that helped. I would recommend using the computer app vs the mobile – there seemed to be more control in the computer app – that said it may be that they are in the mobile app just not as obvious. Next the mic – not much I can say – it’s crap – it's useable if it’s all you have but be ready for your friends to complain and housemates to tell you to stop streaming. Battery life – I charged it every night and found no issues with the battery life. Other – The lighted ear cup is kinda cool but really of little value in gameplay. Overall I would give this a 3-star rating again outside of the mic there’s nothing I really dislike just nothing I really like. I think at this price point there are better headsets available.

I was really excited to get these headphones because my last pair (different brand) are falling apart. I will say that I was impressed with the build quality of these right out of the box. They're lightweight but feel premium, with soft breathable ear cushions and the same material along the top where it rests on your head. Easy to adjust and the chroma lights are awesome. The head band has tons of flex, to the point where you can twist it and it won't break. That's a big plus for durability if you carry these around in a bag. Unfortunately, that's where my good experience with these ends. I did the initial setup with my PS5, and it connected to the dongle. I was able to hear everything (the audio is crisp) but the microphone wasn't working. I double checked that it was plugged in completely and correctly, and it was. I went into the PS5 settings and it said the mic was muted, but it wouldn't give me the option to un-mute it. Toggling the mute button on the headset also did nothing. So I downloaded the Razer Audio app on Android and paired the headset via bluetooth. That's when things got worse. Initially, I was able to change settings, play with the lights, etc. But the headset stays in BT pairing mode with a flashing blue light, even though it's paired. Pushing the Switch button did nothing to return it to the 2.4ghz dongle in my PS5. Stuck, I held down the power button and after about 10 seconds the headset powered off. Powering it back on, it connected to the PS5, but the audio was 100% volume and couldn't be adjusted by using the wheel on the left ear. The microphone still wouldn't work. I decided to try it with my PC instead and see if it was a PS5 issue. It connected, but I faced the same problem where the switch button wouldn't switch to BT. Holding it down for 3-4 seconds puts it in pairing mode, and it connected to my phone, but it wouldn't switch back to 2.4ghz until I held down power for almost 10 seconds and it powered off, then powered back on. Maybe it's just my unit that has a bug. I downloaded Razer Synapse on my PC to see if there was anything I was missing, but nothing changed. It's really frustrating to have a headset that won't connect properly and a microphone that won't work. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this. Hopefully there will be firmware updates or something to correct this. Other reviews seem to love it so maybe I just got a bad unit.
