This mouse is great aesthetically and the mechanics of it, but with Razer products you buy them for the lighting effects too. This mouse plus the keyboard I bought both have issues with Synapse, connecting to the program which causes the lighting effects and color changes. With this feature not working at all, I have a mouse which just lights up, but not what I intentionally paid for it to do. If Razer just fixed this issue it wouldn't be a problem.

The Basilisk v3 I ordered arrived defective. It registered my scrolling/clicking, but the cursor would not move when I moved the mouse. This is the second time I've run into quality control issues on Razer products, so I don't recommend them.

Could you buy a razr mouse that isn't defective out of the box? Unfortunately, quality builds seems to be rare with Razr mice.

Can't beat price for features and responsiveness

. Razer's Basilisk V2 was no slouch, but the V3 is a worthy upgrade and if you are a gamer, pretty much a no brainer. This review is going to be for both a new customer to Razer (perhaps even someone in the office) and the V2 owner. The biggest con for the business guy is going to be the cord. It's a premium cord with a knitted exterior but still a cord. The cord delivers an insane 26k dpi rating on the tracking though. And the V3 is light and a tad small, which makes it responsive for the gamer and easy to grip. I have large hands and actually find it comfortable, but it bucks the trend of bigger is better in the corporate world while actually being a tad heavier in the gaming world. And if it's not obvious, best for the right hand with an ergonomic grip that tilts your wrist 45 degrees. Better for you, but if you are used to flat mice will take some getting used to. But almost everyone is going to love the easy to find and use infinite scroll wheel. The v2 had two small, but definitely there, dead spots on its scroll wheel. Not the V3. Great for gaming and spreadsheets. And you can set it to tactile with click, or free-spin. The buttons are solid and responsive. You get the feeling you can be jamming hard on them as the adrenalin rushes and they are going to hold up fine. There are 11 programmable buttons conveniently placed The RGB lighting really is best in class, and 11 lighting zones to configure with the included software. If you are used to boring mice you can turn it off, but I find the slow chroma breathing to be soothing in all environments. There are going to be people that prefer different shapes, but I don't think you can beat the price for features and responsivness.
