Beautiful design but a few gripes

Bought this yesterday to complete my full Razer Chroma collection and was suprised by it's quality. Here is a full list of items I either liked or disliked about the Razer Firefly. 1. Beautiful Design and Sleek - Minus the head of the pad it's VERY THIN literally maybe 1mm thicker than my old cloth Steelseries mousepad. My DeathAdder Chroma glides across the surface as though it's weightless . 2. Razer Synapse functions - Both a like and dislike Loved the full Chroma capability in Synapse for this mouse but Razer still has not come up with mouse/surface calibration which is one of the two reason I deducted a star. 3. Price - This item is VERY VERY overpriced and Razer took advantage of Chroma owners in this instance as many like myself wanted to complete their Chroma set but for $ 59.99 you REALLY have to want it. 4. Lighting - The Chroma lit edge illuminates very nicely and looks amazing at night but I would have like to see Razer make the lit edges of this mousepad a little bit larger . Not really a negative 5. Mousepad surface - This thing is slick VERY slick and if you are not used to a hard mousepad like myself I would not recommend it as it's VERY hard to get used to this thing. I'm primarily a first person shooter player and the transition from my Steelseries soft mat to this was TERRIBLE. I must stress though this is not Razer's fault as I have only played on a smooth cloth surface. Razer really need to get Synapse updated to calibrate this pad because it's VERY difficult to get used to . In ending thoughts I really love the Firefly even though it needs to be about $20 cheaper and needs full synapse support in the form of calibration.

I saw this in the store one day when browsing and had never heard about it. Decided to look it up online and it seemed like a pretty cool idea! I know I know, "$50 for a mouspad. You are crazy!" you say. However I don't honestly feel like it isn't worth it in any way so far. The design is sleek and smooth like all Razer products. The new chroma features make the mouspad light up and show off brilliant colors along the edges. The best part of the lights are the options within the Razer Synapse program. You can change the style in which the mousepad lights up, including colors on most options. One of my favorite ones is the reactive option which lets you choose the color emitted from the mouspad upon mouse click. The mousepad itself seems to be made up of some type of plastic surface without feeling cheap. Personally I prefer the feel of it compared to your typical cloth mousepad. The surface has very little friction felt when using my Razer Naga across the surface of it. It gives off a little bit of a vibration when moving across the surface which I actually like as it gives the feel of its doing something. All in all my impulse buy has paid off. I would recomend it to anyone who enjoys cool gadgets that are worth the prize. The only downside is that I now want Chroma everything to ago along with it. RIP my wallet.

This mousepad ticks all the right checkboxes for me. First, I have always liked hard surface Razer mousepads, as an all-around mousepad. I find myself effective with it whether I'm gaming highly competitive games, casual games, or general PC use. The surface for this Razer Firefly mousepad is just of the right texture, it even has its own mouse calibration surface via the Synapse 3 software. Second, the size is just perfect for my needs. Not too small and not too large. Third, the solid build makes it look classy overall. You know it's an expensive mousepad just by looking at it. Fourth, the chroma RGB lighting is cool, not directly visible to the eye as it is slightly recessed. Perfect in the sense that you can see the glow via the table reflection and by the light it casts from underneath. Fifth, the glide is smooth and quiet, providing just enough friction. Overall, this is a mousepad I would like to use for long and would buy again when it's time to replace this. If you are a Razer fan, this would easily complement the rest of your accessories, and lighting is controllable either by itself, or as part of your overall system.

I'm giving this 2 stars because while the mousepad itself is great, the software Razor uses, Synapse, slowed down my boot up time to about 5x over. Synapse is of course for the RGB lighting effects which perform as advertised. No complaint there. Before installing Synapse my boot time was about 20 seconds, after installing my boot time was about 3-4 mins and about half the time Synapse was the last thing to boot and sometimes would get stuck booting and I would have to manually close it. I've tried everything under the sun and found on a lot of Razor threads that it is a common problem for some people and that Razor has never made a fix for it. My pcs new and the components are only 3 months old. Its an incredibly stupid problem for a product to cause. I give it an extra star because I got it when it was on sale for half off and because as a mousepad (without rgb effects), its wonderful. I love the texture of the top of the mouse pad and it doesn't slide at all on my slick desk. Its also comfortable to rest my wrist on. But I think Ill stick to Corsair from now on as I have their software for my mouse and keyboard on my pc and I have no problems. Best of luck if you do buy this, hope it works better for you than it did for me.

Straight to the point: Pros: -Awesome customization options with Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) -Larger surface for adequate mouse movement area. -Decent track surface to provide minimal resistance of mouse movement. - Additional USB 3.1 port to preserve ports. Cons: -Power cord hub placement is slightly irritating with wired mice. Summary: This is a great gaming mouse pad and it was the last component that I purchased to tie my corsair RGB gaming rig together. It didn't feel like a necessary purchase for me being that it didn't really add anything to my gaming experience, but it allows for people to have a glass gaming/work station and still be able to use an optical mouse while gaming in style. The placement of the wire hub always makes contact with my wired mouse while im gaming and it moves my mouse pointer to unintended areas which may be a problem on games requiring precision. However, I really enjoy this product at this time and haven't had any problems beyond the typical buggy nature of CUE. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to keep the RGB theme or people in need of a mouse pad surface.

I bought this as a gift for my mom who, like me, loves colorful things. She does not care about gaming at all, so we don't know how useful it is for its intended purpose. Last year I got her the Black Widow Chroma keyboard, and this mouse pad, in addition to the Mamba TE Chroma mouse, this year. The lights on the mouse pad are awesome, my only complaint about them is even at their brightest, they're still not that bright, since you're mostly seeing the light cast on the surface beneath it, and not the lights themselves. Since she has the other Chroma peripherals, it was awesome seeing them all do the rainbow wave together. Unlike the other peripherals, though, the rainbow wave is all the mouse pad can do. You also cannot program the logo in the upper right hand corner separately, it just does the rainbow wave too. I would have liked if you could program it to be a single color, while the parameter lights cycle through the wave. Also, since she doesn't do any gaming, its size is almost inconvenient. The cord and little plastic covering at the top get in the way when using a wired mouse.

I recently bought a new gaming rig and was looking for accessories (new mouse, mousepad, keyboard, headset). I had already had a Razer Molten Naga mouse, so I replaced it with the Naga Chroma. I had already had another Razer mousepad and it needed replacing. I was going to get the same thing, but then I found the Razer Chroma Firefly. I noticed that the mousepad and mouse had the ability to change colors and thought it would be interesting. I believe they have two versions of the Firefly (smooth and textured) and bought the textured one. I have not been disappointed. The mouse is very responsive on the pad and I have had no "skipping" issues at all. The ability to change colors to whatever suits your mood is a very nice touch too. You can choose preset colors or "custom mix" one to your liking as all the Chroma peripherals boast a total of 16.7 million color combinations if I remember correctly. The pad isn't any higher than my previous one that had rubber "feet" and looks very nice on my desk. Over all, I'd say that it is a great mouse pad. Check one out today!

I used to use the Razer Vespula (dual sided hard mat), and it always left a little to be desired on both sides. It was either too much or too little traction. I moved to their Goliathus Extended pad for a while until the Firefly went on sale. Happy to say that the traction on this hard pad is perfect. The RGB on this is pretty decent as well of course. The illumination on the sides lights up a good amount, and works perfectly in sync with other Razer products/profiles you have (which was why I picked this over the Corsair Polaris). The only problem is that after using the Goliathus with all that space, the Firefly's area just seems to be a bit small, especially the vertical space. With the pad's cord coming out the top with a large base, it can get in the way of your mouse's cord. Often. I don't own the Corsair Polaris, but having tried it out, I'd say their traction is about the same. The Polaris is also more square, opposed to the Firefly's rectangular shape.

    Very Bad Tracking

I was replacing a cheap $5 mouse pad when I bought this. I already have had other Razer products that I think are great. So I figured I'll pay a little more, and it has lighting so I'll buy it. It worked fine with the Razer Software. Though the "in-software calibration" was horrible. This calibration is made harder, in that it's not easy to reset after the initial calibration. So the vertical tracking is horrible, it stutters like crazy and I don't know why. The horizontal tracking is great though, (weirdly). The only reason I calibrated it in the first place was to try and fix the horizontal tracking. I have it on a flat surface so I don't understand the issue. My only guess is that the wire to my mouse is slightly tugging and causing it to stutter. But that would be giving the mousepad the benefit of the doubt. So I'm returning the mousepad, and going back to my $5, 5 year old mousepad.

So, you've got to be a hardcore nerd to want this mat. Its over $50 for a MOUSE PAD. At initial glance, thats pretty ridiculous since mouse pads are quite often freebie giveaways. The second you get this home, all of your buyers remorse will fade away once you plug it in. Its pretty, the surface feels EXCELLENT (I am using this with a G502 Proteus Core) and you have a ton of mousing real estate. Other bonus if you have a Corgi like I do - you can just blow off the hair and wipe off the spills and dont have to worry about a cloth mat getting wadded up with gunk and fur. My single gripe is that to access the (very limited) color patterns of the Firefly, you have to install Synapse, which is one reason why I moved away from Razer products in the first place. If you dont mind the mat just cycling through colors then you're good to go and dont have to install a thing. I decided I was fine with that and ended up removing Snyapse. Questions, let me know. All in all, this is a KILLER mouse pad. You're not just getting pretty lights, but one of the best mousing surfaces out there.

I'll just start off by saying my only real complaint about this mouse pad is that I wish that bump in the center either just didn't exist, or was moved off to the left. It being in the center even with using a mouse bungee on the right corner of the pad there's the potential for some snag, but otherwise it's a minor issue. Other than that, has a great surface, easy to keep clean, the lighting zones are a nice touch and work well in Synapse 3. The rubber bottom is very grippy, doesn't slide around at all unlike a G440 I had. Might not be large enough for very low DPI/Sensitivity players but is still a fairly big pad in that regard, using 1600 DPI/3 Sens in Overwatch and Black Ops 4 for instance, can do 1 360 with the entire length of the pad.

This is a great mouse pad. It's a lot of fun to set up coordinated lighting effects with other Razer peripherals. The mouse surface is responsive and quick. Quality is excellent. I do have a few complaints: It's too large for my desk. I have to overlap my keyboard to get everything to fit. This loses some surface area, and covers up some of the lighting. The lighting options could be better. There are only a few, with no customizations available. Hoping for software updates, as the capabilities are certainly present. The lighting is best viewed from farther away. Lights are on the underside. Looking straight down on the pad (in other words, while you're using it) the amount of "glow" really depends on the reflectability of your desktop. My glass desktop reflects very little. Overall, this is a fun addition to a Razer Chroma set, if you already own other items. It's great for impressing your friends, but it's not essential.

    Lackluster integration with Chroma

It lights up, and plays through the RGB spectrum as advertised, but to date (November 2018) even keeping up with Razer's updates, Razer Central, and Chroma still have lackluster integration with the firefly pad. I currently own all Razer input hardware - keyboard & mouse, but outside of the mouse, the Chroma integration and customization for the rest is just dismal or downright frustrating. If you simply want some ambient light for your setup, they do the trick. Forget trying to program feedback or event-based lighting changes, though, unless Razer happens to get their software to work properly. Definitely an overpriced mouse pad that will waste valuable USB ports if you're not concerned with the RGB stuff. I'd move on to something more worthwhile.

I have the Ornata Chroma keyboard as well as the Lancehead Chroma mouse and together, they are absolutely awesome! The color capabilities with the Synapse 3 Beta allow for some really cool control. As far as the actual mouse pad capabilities, it seems to be a nice mixture of accuracy and speed for gaming. It's also very large so I never have any trouble with my mouse getting too close to the edges. Not much else to say; it's a great entry-level gaming mouse pad. I'm sure at some point they will release a more expensive version with the wireless charging for your mouse, and I may upgrade, but I'm a casual gamer, so the wires don't bother me. One note: I did have to remove/re-install the module inside Synapse 3 Beta to have it detect the Firefly, but that was a small hiccup and have not had any issues since.

As far as just this product goes, i love how astonishing it looks. The way it lights up is so flawless and it barely adds any noticeable thickness to the mousepad. I moved from the goliath to the firefly and I don't regret it at all. The texture on it allows for good control and speed at the same time. Bought this, along with the Mamba TE, blackwidow chroma stealth, and the Man O War headset. In combination they are all absolutely beautiful. You can sync them all up so their LEDs react together, or separate for situational use. The program you use to do all this (Razer's Synapse) is super easy to use, has downloaded developer additions, and helps save profiles usable across multiple games, and computers. Razer's other additions of software (such as comms, arena, and cortex) also help increase your game time and play immensely. Their company truly is for gamers, by gamers.

I was using my laser mouse directly on the surface of the desk and it was working fine for me. This mouse pad was on sale and has RGB lighting, so I wanted to add more lighting to my set up. I had to turn the sensitivity way down as the mouse tracked much better in this pad, I’m quite pleased. The only complaint I have about RGB is you can pick a static color only, so if you want effects such as color changes, pulsing or chasing light patterns those are not available. I have not read anywhere on Razer’s support site if they plan to do software updates to allow those features.

In comparing this RGB mouse pad to the Corsair offering, the surface is much better and to my liking. The newest Razer Synapse software is now stable and although not as customizable as the Corsair with respect to the discreet LED control, it no longer interferes with my other Logitech devices AND - more importantly - the customized light pattern can be saved to the actual pad without the need to have the Synapse software loaded at boot-up. Outstanding! Synapse could offer more in the way of 'Wave", "Breathing" and 'Cycling' speed control but beyond that - the true gamers will love the cloud based profile controls. So it's all godd. I can now recommend this RGB mouse pad - especially when it is on sale.

If you're looking for something cool and flashy that matches you set up, then this is the right choice for you. The Led lights make way all around the perimeter of the pad, except for the top where some of the hardware is fixed. It's a very study pad, much lighter than I expected. The surface of the pad is very similar to the Razer Destructor 2 hard mouse pad. It's a hard gritty surface, very good for a tactical-precision feel. I think it's a good pad, and the appearance is appealing. However the price is pretty high. You are basically paying an extra $20-30 for the lights and brand. Also its BEST used a on Black surface desk. The lights don't show well on a white desk which is what I used to have. It looks much better on black.

For the Razer fan that has everything else or even the casual gamer looking for something different, this is a great addition to your kit. With an outstanding, smooth surface that's super thin and suited for both control and speed gamers, it's hard to count this pad out. The ability to pair up with other Chroma enabled Razer gear is a nice touch and gives a seemingly endless array of color choices. The ability to enable different modes to cycle through all the colors, pulse, react to mouse presses (with Razer mice), and or remain static on a color of your choosing are all very nice features. Despite all that, it's bit cheap; that said, I personally feel it's worth the price. A standout piece of kit and a definite recommended buy.

Stopped by my local Best Buy to check out some PC gaming gear and found this gaming mouse pad, i've been needing a new mouse pad for awhile now and have read a lot of reviews, this one fell into the category that fit my needs. I had one of the older style Razer mouse pads that had two surfaces "one on each side" that worked great for The Division for a while, but as used it I wore out the surface to the point that my mouse would keep sticking which fouled up my accuracy. The Razer Firefly has an excellent surface for smooth and accurate gaming, I will definitely buy Razor products of this quality in the future.
