Super bad smoky smell

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The pad was ok but when I was using my PC I kept smelling a super strong smoky odor I almost thought some of my neighbors were smoking (which would be super weird because I live in a smoking-free apartment), until I finally found out the smell came from this mouse pad - when I use my mice on it there's friction so creates heat and makes the smell even stronger. The smell even got onto my table top as well as the bottom of my mice. I tried wiping it with cleaning wipes as well as water but didn't work. Really frustrating and I have to return it to store.
