My son is a gamer. He research everything he wants and Best Buy had the head gear he wanted at a good price.

I use these every day for hours and they have the longest staying power that I have seen is a set of head phones.

Nothing fancy, just sound headphones.had to trade in broken ines and these have sound reviews .

After researching for a while, he chose these. He's had them a few months now and has had no complaints.

I did not have very high expectations from this headphone but boy was I wrong. This think is pretty impressive for what it is suppose to do. These are still not neutral sounding headphone and there is some extra oomph or emphasis on bass; which sometime makes you want to adjust the equalizer in bass heavy songs. In such songs the vocals sounds recessed over bass but on high treble songs these do great with there added bass. These are otherwise warm sounding and that extra bass makes some songs a lot fun to listen to for others not so much. If you are a bass head you are in for a treat and these can go real loud. I liked how these sounds with games as well; I have tried it on Metro 2033, Witcher 2, Rocket League and few others. And I liked the sound signature quiet a bit. About software: I think 7.1 in a headphone is still gimmicky and these one are no exception; Synapse calibrate the virtual surround for you; and when you listen to the calibrated test sound you can see what Razer are talking about; and its good. Its just hard to replicate it in game. Buying this software gets you a key to Razor surround as well; which itself is about $20 value; so that is a plus and no you do not need it for these headphones. Its a software if you want to make your stereo speakers go surround.(If they can ;) These are super comfortable for short to medium sessions (I m yet to try them for long; but I could wear them easily with my glasses for over an hour. These are not fully closed but blocks the sounds pretty well. I am very impressed with the overall package offered by Razer. Hopefully these will sound better in songs with time.(placebo or burnin)

The Headset sounds awesome. everything worked fine out of the box, However the cord tangles up bad, its only been 3 weeks and already knots and curl ups have found their way against the headset. Also inside the headband a small cord appears to be longer than what was needed, so that sticks out. Other than that, its virtual surround sound and works great!
